Chain brush, paddock stand on the rear, let it idle in 1st gear and use wd40. Clean in seconds
@@dannygatland1353 do not do this.
You will lose fingers
@@JelloThatsMellow yeah. Never idle the bike in gear. If something gets caught, say bye2 to your fingers or hands.
Or just dont put your hands too close to it 😂

To be honest your videos weren't love at first sight, but I gave you a chance and I was not disappointed. Keep up the good work man! Really good content and I'm sure you helped a ton of folks.
This is by far the best no bs content!
I use the “Grunge brush” because it cleans all sides at same time wrapping around the chain. I put bike on rear stand, start it, click into first gear and just let tire free spin while cleaning/re-lubing. Quickest way it can be done imo.
I won't even call this chain "dirty"

That's a good thing too because this is only cosmetic cleaning of the chain.
@@thereinthetrees_5626 Actually no, people watching video expecting the processing as well as result, it's good that this video shows how to proceed, but even better showing the outcome.
@@darrellb6583yeah dont change oil until your engine is seized
This video is so helpful, thankyou. Im a new rider and have just made a complete mess of my garage with all the dripping chemicals and dirt.
I also use brake cleaner, just make sure you use non-chlorinated, its less harmful to the O rings and anything else you get it on
Clown boy doesn’t get that. He claims “brake parts cleaner never harms the o-rings and even Honda tells you to use it” fucking clown 🤣 gonna make these kids need new chains every week. Probably recommends 530 chains too
@@Youre_SmoothBrained the manual for my R1 and FZ09 says to use kerosene lol. I used to use it, its just too messy and stinks up the garage. I use non chlorinated brake cleaner the same way he is in the video, i just don’t spray it directly on it so it doesn’t get on anything I don’t want it to mess up
@@RapidRedRider kerosene is fine on rubber because it’s not as harsh as advanced auto brand brake clean. I’m 90% sure that’s not non-chlorinated BPC
@@Youre_SmoothBrained i know kerosene is safe and idk what brake cleaner he was using in the video but probably not non-chlorinated
It would take forever for brake cleaner to harm the o ring and the material used isn’t rubber
I lube with 80/90 transmission oil (very cheap) using a small squeeze bottle with a cone resealable tip, it gets into the bushes through capillary action and that which is excessive stays on the outside of the bushes until it flies off due to centripital force from riding taking any dirt or grime with it because oils have detergents and dispersants in them.
When you buy a new chain the box packaging has printed a recommendation to use 80/90 gear oil.
After a mile or two I stop the bike and give the chain and wheel a wipe with a rag.
It all just wipes straight off leaving a clean lubricated chain using no harsh chemicals .
Finally, someone with some sense...
is it safe on o rings?
@@fanhur6973 it is when chain manufacturer's instructions specifically calls for it.
@@leeengelsman1855 I used to, but it flings off quite a bit of spatter which can make a mess (and it smells bad when you're putting it on).
I've used the chain degreasers in the past but brake cleaner works just as well and cheaper too. Nice video mate
Thank you for saving me money and teaching me something new in a simple way.
Agree!!!! We also use kerosene for chain cleaning cheap but messy.. but brake cleaner will also do the fast clean 😂 for chain lub. I recommend sticky lub.. like motul and motorex
I’ve heard good things about simple green cleaning solution as well. I haven’t tried it myself, but I have tons around my house&spray bottles in my work trucks&warehouse. Thinking about giving it a shot tomorrow when I clean my chain.
That little amount of lube will not spread out to the rest of the linkages. It might cover a couple of the surrounding linkages but that's it.

Brake cleaner is a good idea. Never tried that. I lubricate with gear oil all the time. The chain is smooth, it flings off dirt, high loads are not a problem and it never rusts.
Personally, I've been using kerosene, but if people are worried about brake cleaner harming o-rings why not CRC electrical contact cleaner instead? It's safe for plastic and rubber, dries quickly, and degreases beautifully. I've used it to clean carbs, wire harnesses and other stuff on a bike and you don't need to worry about overspray; it also doesn't smell as nasty as brake or carb cleaner. I've been using Maxima lube but will def check out the PJ1.
Use gear oil for lubricantion. It's cost effective.
Oosh your channel is like a gold mine bro!
Mad respect for this brother making ez tutorials for noobies like me
Wow Great video short and to the point with basic tools!!
I use one can every time I lube the chain and it does cover the whole motorcycle
Yooo is that an 848 streetfighter?? That’s exactly what I have and was looking how to clean my chain haha. Appreciate the knowledge!
The pj1 lubricant i got puts out black lubricant & just makes my chain nasty again, ima try what you have, thx for the video, helps a good bit.
"The chain lube will spread all over the motorcycle surface area". 😂 You got that right!
Best bullshit ever
After 150 miles it’ll spread all over the dust cover and tail of the bike 🤣 clown boy doesn’t know what he’s talking about. Lemme lube an inch of a 4 foot chain and hope it spreads 🤣🤣
Awesome how you maintain the cleanliness of your motorcycle.
Great vid. Thanks for the advice!!
I advise against using brake clean as it will dry out the Orings and cause them to fail prematurely
Yepp use WD40
Not the case, The o rings are a silicone rubber instead of aflas or polyurethane. It can't harm them
@@69VAJRA remember wd40 is a degreaser, so if it does get past an O ring you're actual lube trapped inside is gone.
I use grease it wipes off with all the dirt then just re apply.
O ring chains aren’t all they are cracked up to be
You better have that conversation with Wurth then, they sell chain AND brake cleaner.
Damn bro, your chain so clean😮
The mechanic where I go with my is saying that I shouldn't use to many solutions because it will take out the lube from inside the O ring. That I should just clean it with a cloth or brush and just add more lube. Unless it's super dirty. But when it is dirty and if I need to use chemicals to clean the to make sure I dry it out and clean properly before putting lube and to put extra lube so that the o ring isn't damaged or the chain is rusting on the inside.
Don’t use brake parts cleaner. I’m going through comments to warn people of this clown. Use “clean up” chain cleaner. Blue and yellow can. Use “maxima chain wax” in the brown can. The cleanup will clean the seals and get everything out (dust that is, let’s some grease stay in it depending on how much you use) and the wax will keep it lubed up. You’ll have to do it more often with the wax due to it holding sand and dust. But it’s amazing lube. If not that can PJ1 or Lithium grease
Bel ray super clean chain lube is the deal. Won’t sling like the other stuff.
As a gsxr rider I have never cleaned the chain ive only added more lube. Never had a chain snap on me yet
I use white grease cause it will last longer and the company claims it is better against rust and rain. What are you thoughts about this?
Sounds like it will work fine. I use lithium grease in my bearing dust covers to help keep crap out.
Lithium grease is pretty good. It’s what they put on them from factory. I daily ride and I use “Maxima chain wax” the brown can. No issues and it doesn’t spit shit all over your bike when you go to ride. Acts like a glue almost but you need to clean it more when using it. It’ll cause dust and sand to stick to the chain. Just keep up with maintenance and you’ll be good. Don’t use BPC either
i use gear lubr just as my owners manual tells me to lol, cheap and proven to be effective
I'm sure I'll get alot of backlash from this, but I've used wd-40 to clean my chain and wash it off with water, being that wd-40 is not oil based it comes right off along with all the dirt and grease. Air compressor to get all the water off and chain lube, cuts the time in half
In tests, WD-40 has been shown not to protect the chain internals, probably by rotting the O-rings.
No compressed air, it gets behind O or X rings displacing the factory grease and forces crap behind them
There are autolube solutions available with cleaner fluid of your choice as well. They'll drip a constant amount till empty for 5-7 months, and in between you can manually change to cleaning solutions. Not very expensive, about $200-300, and the lube cartridges are $10-50 range. It is helpful if you ride a lot.
I have brush and it have 3 sides pointing towards inside to clean the chain it works stunning well saves work and time ❤️
Grunge brush. I have that too. I like the versatility of the tooth brush better

What does riding a Suzuki GXR have to do with it? Are you, in some way, superior to the rest of us mere mortals? 😂
I get it running on the stand at idle in first and clean the chain then pour a small stream of 75w-140 on it works with o ringed and non o ringed chains
Hey man. You’re fr a godsend. Thank you for all your helpful moto content 🫶
Could you please let me know in what kilometre range we should clean and lube our bike chain.. and please suggest me best chain cleaner and lube. Can I use gear oil for lubrication??
I use Kerosene, it's really and time consuming and messy job. But when the chain gets clean it so satisfying
I’m just getting into motorcycles and you’ve shown me so much thank you
great job. you should talk about lube sling and chain wax/paraffin in your next chain video tho. most people don’t know what it is. it’s also better to lube chain right after a ride while chain is hot as well.
Great video. How often do you lube those chains?
PJ1 is best out there, tried many other brands, 40K miles riding experience. Also it's better to put some cardboard behind the chain to cover the tire, if you spray on tire it gonna be slippery, not safe....
Very close to what I do some guys use diesel or WD-40 it's it's all about the same ⚡️⚡️been using up 80-90 gear ⚙️ oil up then the new molybdenum type to lock in the 80-90 ⚡️⚡️
I guess there are different types of brake cleaner. Years ago on my old bike I used some automotive brand brake cleaner to spray off my front discs and it ate the paint off my front wheel. Seems like some brands are fine though.🤷♂️
Non chlorinated is what i use
I take mine off, but I'm kinda ocd. While it's off I check for any abnormal wear or stretching
That’s a lot of work lol
Kind of ocd? Taking your whole chain off to clean it is a bit more than "kind of" lol!
Most guys run riveted masterlinks and would have to remove the whole swingarm. No thanks...
@@mscustomknives Pull a rivet, reinstall. Ready with the right tools.
Bruhh, you take your chain off every 500 miles? TF 🤣
I skip the cleaning part and just make sure the chain has lube on it. I usually lube the chain every 2nd or 3rd tankful. My bike doesn't go off road though.
This, I use a pretty thin lube and I clean with a rag and the lube then I lube again after
So don't give a quick spray to each section of the chain just that one quick spray to that one section correct?
Don't use kerosene, it destroys the orings. Brake cleaner as well.
Well done cleaning a clean chain
I use wd-40 and a chain brush, follow with a rag, then lubricant
Been working for me for a while
Thank you, nether the dealership nor my friends told me anything about cleaning the chain, if not for Reddit I’d probably have ridden until the thing broke on me
A word of advice from a mechanic. Brake cleaner is not good for rubber or silicone. It eats away at it. It will erode your orings on your chain.
chain manufacturers call for gear oil like chainsaw bar and chain oil. also they make brushes and systems that clamp arind the chain and make this way easier.
It’s called a grunge brush. I have one. The toothbrush cleans better.
A good tip is to cut out a guard from cardboard that you can stick behind the chain
I clean mine and relube ever 250 miles and my chain stays nice looking and last many miles
What do you recommend if the links are frozen/ stuck together? It happened to mine and there is no slack whatsoever when I spin the wheel. Then the chain droops down a lot until the tight spot spins around, then there is no slack.
This guy always on point no BS just straight to the point 👌🏻 💯 🫡
That's already so clean.
I have been using chain cleaner spray (which is like parts cleaner) and a good layer of WD40 after the cleaner is dried and wiped down. Is WD40 going to lessen the life of the chain if I do this every 2-3 weeks?
No, you’re fine
Hi can you use diesel fuel instead koresene? Will diesel hurt the o ring? I just use diesel and i really clean my chain. But im afraid the o ring rubber will not last 😅
2nd bottle in fifteen years? Hmm I would call that under greased
How often do we need to clean our chain?
You should really see Ryan f9 videos bro
Ito pinaka mabait mong video
Just use oil that you get from changing your engine oil, its free and works just like we all need:)
Yeah and the abrasive metal filings in the dirty oil, are great for wearing out your chain and orings early, I'll have to give it a try, thanks 👍🤣🤦♂️
Thanks for tips. 👍👍👍
i reccomend Soapy Water and for lubeing up chain i use luiquid called Lancol (Croatian type of Chain Lube simmilar to 2 stroke oil for Mopeds and Chainsaws)
alright a better way to do this no hate btw is turn the bike on and put it on a stand then spin the back wheel and use chain lube or either things he uses and just hold the toothbrush on it while the chain keeps spinning or get a squirt gin and squirt it on then use a rag and wipe it all off while the chain is spinning then squirt it again ! and it’s clean and oiled up now
Chain cleaners are easier than brake cleaners on o/x/z rings
You are amazing 👍🙏
Could I just clean the chain with water and like soap or do I have to use a special cleaner
Personally ive used wd40 to clean and 75-90 gear oil to lube
You can also use diesel fuel, it lubricates and cleans since it's an oilier liquid
Does koby chain lube needs to be applied the same way?
They make a 10 dollar brush that cleans 3 sides and you can just dump the brush and spin the wheel.....
tried one, the bristles were so stiff they ripped my X rings after 5 or so cleans. bought a new chain and went back to a soft toothbrush.
get a rag and a bottle of WD40, spray on chain and rub with cloth, done, no need to use toothbrush, also break cleaner can dry out the orings if u got oring chain
WD 40 Silicone Spray would be better than regular WD 40 but using proper chain cleaner would be probably the best. Just my opinion.
I used wd40 to agitate the dirt. Spray the dirt with water. Dry the chain with rag. Lube the chain with chain lube. The chain is almost 2 years. Still functioning like brand new
Good tips adobo! Hey, what do you think of Amsoil motorcycle oil 15-50? For my Ducati SF V2
I like amsoil
Nice Ducati
First time cleaning my ninja 400 2023 and I detailed it... got chain lube on my brake and they aren't gripping right... any suggestions...? 😅 I used muc-off
Boil your pads in water
What bike stand do you use?
Brake cleaner really, gonna have to try
When I ride, the chain lube gets all over my tire and wheel and causes me to slip during turns, any advice?
How often do you clean the chain?
Watch out with brake clean tho over time it’ll wear out the o rings on the chain, I recommend just doing a little clean when it truly needs it and just keep up with the lube
I've been using a fingernail scrub brush, its like a tooth brush but a little bigger and longer. My girl ain't happy about it but what can you do?
I think also chain lube should be applied after a ride. Not when the chain is cold and rigid. If the chain is cold the grease will be going everywhere on the wheels. Apply it after a bit of ride and its gonna stick to it like a dream
Can I use starting fluid?
Does brake cleaner eat away at your O RINGS on your chain? is it approved for rubber O Rings?
My honda Manual says not to use brushed as it ‘ can damage seals on the rings ‘ ?
One sec! So you apply the chain lube on only one spot and then run the chain?
Brake cleaner dries out quick.WD40,let it soak and then clean it.Apiece of cardboard works better with a bit of finesse you wont have to hold it,so you can spin and spray at the same time. Also, all the chain sprays, you should not press it all the way.Moderate the pressure so that you wont overspray.Wait 5min and wipe excess
my motorcycle, i ride it everyday for work, just spray it with pressure washer and let it dry then lube it with used motor oil, that's fine, over 3 years the chain and sprocket still in a good shape
how often u clean em?
That's still a clean chain, at that moment I won't even Clean
