Ahhh. You are right. We own one. I hated my RX450h. I confess I am a retired Nissan service manager. However. The brand went to a very sad place. 18 months ago. Japan kicked Renault out with a 19% interest. Eventually completely gone. Now Japan is in full control. The mission is to make the best vehicles in the world. And yes. That V6 is a legend. I am so honored you love it. 👍
I had no idea that had happened, so thank you for sending me down a rabbit hole to learn more! But it really explains why Nissan, Mitsubishi, and Infiniti have published these all new “bridge to the future” roadmaps we’ve seen come out of those three in the last 8 months. I’ve always been such a huge fan of the Nissan/Infiniti brand because I grew up in the 90s with Nissan of that age and so I’m so incredibly happy to see the brand having a renaissance. The new QX80 is incredible (as I’m sure the new Armada will be too) if you have a chance to go in and see one. They will be hitting dealers in July.
I'm going to buy a 23 or 24 QX60 with this nice v6...what is the secret in years to come to keep the back of the valves clean (since there aren't port injectors) ? And I guess carbon builds up in other places, so what is it an owner can do to keep the carbon from building up?
Al thought the Lexus might have lost the luxury design which I agree with you on Lexus but Lexus resale value will hold more than the infinity. If I was to buy a Infinity yes they are nice cars but they depreciate like crazy I would get a CPO one.
@midiman they don’t depreciate “like crazy” but they do depreciate more than Lexus. However, a lot of Lexus owners and Infiniti owners buy to keep for ten years at which point the experience they’re going to have over that decade is more important than whatever they’ll get in 10 years anyway and I think that’s the benefit of this QX60.
@@joshjamescars Josh why lose all $ a 2 year old CPO will have the depreciation built in. the New Lexus is unknown at this point but Infinity is know for major break downs. Now like you have said in the video these are new and could be a whole different ball game., but based on previous Infinity's they are not reliable. What I really hate about the new Lexus is that 4 cylinder Turbo in the RX and also them removing the classy Lexus logo from the back.
@@joshjamescars I might have missed when you described the engines it but the Lexus V6 fks has both port and GDI does the infinity? Also Lexus said they need to met Fed MPG standards that is why they went with the 4 Cylinder Turbo how did Infinity keep it?
@midiman5045 The 2GR FKS does but it’s only used for a periodic cleaning cycle. The VQ to the best of my ability in researching it does not. Also, Lexus and Toyota use that as an excuse for a lot of things they’re doing and it is true that strict emissions regulations will end V6s and V8s, but ultimately Toyota’s moves to smaller engines is because that helps them reach their carbon neutrality goals, it’s not because they are being forced to. Nissan, Honda, Acura, Ford, Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis also still use NA V6s in their midsize SUVs.
Haha, yes!!! I’m not here to amass a huge viewer base. I’m here to speak my mind to like minded people. :) Probably the GX460 because it’s old Lexus quality and reliability. This QX60 is great (and better than the GX in some ways), but I just love the GX460. Ask me what I want to be driving in 50 years? It’s the GX460. Though, 2021 was also the last year of the LX570 so take a look at those as well if you’re willing to drive something larger.
test drive this car yesterday. Absolutely the best car I drive this year. Really smooth and the car is the very quiet. Definitely miles ahead of this gen of rx350.
@NasheBeLike It’s all about emissions. A turbo I4 pollutes less than a naturally aspirated V6. Government regulations set standards for how much vehicles can pollute, and so that’s why you see even full size trucks like the Chevy Silverado coming with a turbo-4 today. Unfortunately, Infiniti won’t be going back to V6s even if you do leave feedback.
I think there is an inherent obsession over resale value. To think people buy a vehicle to maximize resale value as opposed to maximizing enjoyment and ride quality
I think there are valid arguments both ways, but I think when it’s a car you intend to keep for a long time, maximizing enjoyment and ride quality is absolutely the number one priority. Especially with something that should also be reliable and have low cost of ownership like the QX60.
Yes! The MDX was far more luxurious in its last generation. The interior was more plush, the materials felt better. The new MDX is great but feels a little too much like a Honda inside (same with the RX, feels like any old Toyota now).
just got my 2024 qx60 autograph love it thank you for all the good info we have always bought Lexus and Toyota but when looking at the 2024 and 2025 they are all riddled with problems
Wow, finally watching a very objective review of this QX60. I’ve always said Infiniti makes top cars though went off rail with the introduction of CVT. Now they’re back at the top. Josh, you’ve gained a subscriber!
Welcome aboard and thanks for watching! Yes, Infiniti is really coming back strong. The decline of Nissan and Infiniti both was really a result of the poor management and the power struggles in the Nissan Renault Alliance. Now that Japan has control back over their products I think we’re going to be seeing some truly outstanding cars.
Amazing vid! Lexus fanboy thinking of upgrading to an RX from the ES.. I have been watching this new QX60 a lot lately and your video has me going into my local infiniti for a look around next week lol
If you like it, buy sometime soon as it’s going to a 2.0L turbo for the 2025 model year. The upside being I’m sure the 24s with the V6 will have a ton of incentives and discounts on them in the next 4-6 months.
Wow - completely agree with you. I've been inside the Lexus TX and it feels so cheap. Dull looking door cards, flat design - super basic. Out of place for a $72 CAD base vehicle! The RX lost all the luxury of wood and leather. Now Infiniti is looking convincing. Never drove one but I'm happy to hear it's not a turbo 4. Uh - Lexus isn't even trying anymore. What's the use of paying $10-15k over the Toyota counterpart. The Lexus interiors look so cheap too. In Canada alone, it's #1 on most stolen vehicle, and most people say it's in port city or major areas (Montreal or Toronto). But living in Edmonton AB - back in Aug 2023 around 5-7 RX were stolen in 24-48 hrs! Lexus RX, SUVs or off-road GX/LX are stolen, shipped to Africa or Middle East so the thiefs can pocket 2-3x what the car is worth here. We are subjected to insurance premiums so I would stay away from Lexus! I want an Infiniti QX50 when it gets redesigned. Infiniti needs hybrids badly because the VQ mpg isn't great now in the age of TVs and PHEVs. I love classic, comfy cruising and Lexus is going German. Stiffer ride than usual, engine noise etc... Love this brand.
Agree, Toyota and Lexus product overlap makes no sense because the same engines and materials. Sometimes the Toyota version has better options at lower price. Camry vs ES 86/BRZ vs RC Corolla Cross vs UX Venza vs NX Crown Signia vs RX Grand Highlander vs TX Land Cruiser vs GX Sequoia vs LX That means IS, LS and LC are the only unique Lexus left.
Agreed on all points. Especially the VQ getting poor gas mileage by modern standards. Actually, you were too kind- it’s horrendous. Wonderful engine, one of the all-time greats, but it’s Achilles heel is the fuel economy. It sounds great, is smooth for a V6 (not as much so as an inline-6) , is bulletproof reliable, and makes nice power. But the mpg is horrid. My first-gen G35s with the port injection VQ35DE get about 15 mpg city in winter fuel.😱 A silver lining to go along with that V8 gas mileage is V8 torque- this motor MOVES on throttle tip-in around town. The equally reliable, smoother, and more efficient N52 L6s in my BMWs just don’t provide the same shove in the back when you first get on the throttle.
Thanks Josh. As an older buyer ready to buy my last car, this is food for thought. It's between this Autograph or Sensory trim and the 2024 Toyota Venza Hybrid. Yes, it's an unfair comparison budget wise but if I spoil myself I want to make sure I'm getting my money's worth.
Hello! I would think most about the long term costs to run either. The Venza hybrid is incredibly efficient so if you ever think you may get to the point where you’re on a fixed income and so your money is going to have to go further, the Venza is going to be cheaper to run over your ownership term. The Venza is also way smaller as you may know-it’s a compact versus full-size and both have their benefits. Venza being smaller is easier to drive and place on the road and great for a couple who may no longer need to carry around kids. But the QX60 being a solid midsize crossover is going to seat grandkids or family/friends more comfortably.
I just found your channel, and I'm so glad I did. I couldn't agree more with you on the interiors of cars these days. I'm sick of the sea of black everywhere or just the seat tops being a different color. When I saw the new Lexus interior design, I thought, "Where's the luxury?" and wrote it off my list of desirable cars. They seem to be focused on technology more than luxury, and I want both.
Well welcome aboard! Glad to have you here, and thanks for watching! And same!! So many of these cars are just lackluster inside to cut costs… not appropriate for luxury, IMO.
I appreciate your disclaimer up front but your integrity has never been in question. Having said that, it's hard to believe you can make such great reviews, work a full-time job, and keep your marriage strong. Thank you so much.
Haha! Thank you, I appreciate you saying so! This is “fun work” for me, if you will, so I don’t mind spending the time. And I don’t have kids, so that gives me more time than some others might have to invest in their hobbies!
Hi Josh, just found you on YT. I have a 23 Sensory trim and love it. I think it’s the best car I have ever owned and in the last few years have had 2 Subaru Ascents and a Telluride. Looking forward to your future reviews.
Terrific!! Glad to hear you love it. The Sensory trim to me is the perfect, no compromises option in the range. And both Telluride and Ascent are great but the QX60 is truly a level above.
Great video as always! I would take this over the current Lexus RX 350 for that naturally aspirated V6 and interior design. Lexus just does not build them like how they used to anymore. Infiniti is sadly slept on nowadays because its name isn't as prestigious. It should've evolved more into what Genesis is right now.
Thank you! And could not agree more. Also, yes it’s sad that they are now but with the new business plan coming out of Nissan/Mitsubishi/Infiniti, I think all three brands have a really bright future if they can execute it right!
Thanks for your review on the QX enjoyed the whole thing. Not a Lexus owner but grew up loving Lexus , attended their Taste of Lexus back in the day collected brochures, etc. Like you I miss the old school Lexus days! The new interiors just don’t do anything for me. I went to my local dealership GX release party other than the exterior looks the interior feels inferior to the previous gen. Took a look at a TX also interior is just sad. Like I said in your Tacoma review I think Lexus is being Toyota and overpricing lately , just trying to sell in it’s name and forgot about everything else.
Wow, very nice. The FX was years (decades?) ahead of its time. If you look at the current gen RX, it resembles it a bit. Infiniti have always been very nice cars, reliable and actually, quite popular in my city which has a large Italian community probably because it’s just so stylish.
Yes! I loved the FX. I think it was a little too ahead of its time but it fits right in with the styling of cars today. And I’m looking forward to them bringing the QX65 to market which is supposedly going to resurrect the FX’s styling.
Hey Josh, JPMC Alum here again. Didn’t realize the QX60 got refreshed lately. Glad I caught this vid. Btw, did consider the RX500h, 4 cylinder angst notwithstanding, but a $75k MSRP seemed absurd. Loved my last Infiniti Q45 (‘93) but we’ll never see that v8 again😢. Did test a Genesis for the first time (GV80) … instant HUGE fan. Would love to see you do a vid on that Bad Boy, especially a “Coupe” trim that hasn’t been introduced yet into the US, maybe later this year?! 🤷 cheers, BA
Hello again! Be happy you’re retired; JPMC was making my life difficult today haha! But yes! This is an all-new generation that came out in 2022 (the platform is technically the same but everything else was completely revamped) and it’s really impressive. There will also be a coupe-UV (FX-esque) coming out later this year as well and if they nail the design on that, I think that could also give the GV80 coupe a run for its money. Though if I remember right, the GV80 gets way more expensive than this and I think the coupe was going to be the halo model. Anyhow, yes I’ll have to see if there’s any way I can snag one! Cheers!
Yes, and thank you! There’s also a QX65 coming out which will be a 2-row, slightly smaller (or shorter) crossover based on this QX60 that will be a true successor to the OG FX which will directly target RX!
I think you might like the Lexus IS, RC, or LC. Maybe an ES, but that’s front wheel drive. I think the days of great handling rear wheel drive Toyotas (and Infinitis) might be coming to an end.
My wife and I had the 2016 Q50 & 2016 Infiniti QX60 we really enjoyed them they were very nice we traded them in my wife got the BMW X3 I got the BMW 330i x drive my wife did like the Q X6 the new one, but we really didn’t need anything that big. It is a beautiful SUV though.
Can’t beat BMW drive and handling! The Q50 is outstanding too. They’ll be coming out with a QX65 later this year which should be a slightly smaller more coupe-UV type crossover based on this QX60 which I think might be a better size for folks who don’t need something as big.
I agree wholeheartedly with your assessment of the QX 60. to me, It’s like the sleeper luxury SUV with the finesse that the Lexus RX used to have! Sadly, the next QX60 will be getting a turbo 4 cylinder though!🤷♀️
I enjoyed your review of the QX60. I agree with your assessment of the car since I have own a 2024 QX60 for the last 6 months. I did get the Autograph trim since I like the captain's chairs in the second row. The only comment I have is the engine is a little underwhelming compared to my 2017 Q7 which I traded in for the QX60. Don't get me wrong, the QX60 engine is sufficient for most driving situations; it's just those times you would like a little more HP to navigate traffic. The other comment I have is, I found the QX60 the best value overall when compared to its major competitors. In most cases, I would have paid $8-$10,000 more for one of the competitor's cars in order to get the same features.
Great choice! To be fair, with regard to the Q7, I’m guessing you had either the turbo I4 or turbo V6. Either one is going to feel faster off the line because you had the advantage of forced induction engine, which typically allows the engine to hit max power much lower in the rev range than a naturally aspirated V6 which has no forced induction and hits its max power much closer to the redline.
Never thought I would consider leaving Toyota/lexus but I will be looking elsewhere after my 2 GX460s go to the wayside in hopefully many years. Great video brother!
Well, depending on how old you are and they are, there’s a possibility that they could outlive you! That’s what I’m hoping for with mine! 😂 (somewhat kidding). And thank you!!!
@@joshjamescars my GX’s are 2022 model year and I’m 42. One GX has 10k the other 3k miles.. we keep my wives as a garage queen knowing very well we might never replace it with anything of such quality. We drive mine as a daily driver. We hope both GX’s outlive us and hope yours outlive you my friend!
@@donaltemus3565I’m in my late 20’s and my ‘20 GX only has driven 16,500 miles in 4 years. At approx. 4k miles a year, it’s going to take 50 years for me to reach 200k, and 100 years for it to reach 400k, so I think mine will DEFINITELY outlive me. At my projected lifespan of about 55 years my car will only have about 120k miles on it. Will make a great car for someone in 2052!
You’re correct, my Q7 had a twin turbo V6. It just would be nice for the QX60 to have a little more “getup and go” when needed. But obviously not a deal breaker for me.
I often wondered about this as a loyal Toyota Lexus owner since age 16. Explored briefly Honda, Acura, Sentra, Jeep then back to Lexus and Toyota since 1998. But since the lost of V6 and V8 and down regulating to 4 bangers with turbo with or without electric one kinda wonders. My neighbor who always had infinity for several years swear by it! Now this review makes me wonder
Same here! It’s a brand that I feel like a lot of us never had to explore since Toyota always made great cars but now that they’re not… I think it’s time for a lot of us to look elsewhere.
@@joshjamescars The question is, would Toyota since they suspended their EV production and preferred to be penalized by the powers that be (for the sake of Green energy), would Toyota bring back the V6 and V8? If Infinity / Nissan retained V6 and V8 naturally aspirated Direct, commit to these type of engine, likely a large group of loyal Toyota users may exodus to Infinity/Nissan. The sweet hum of the V6 was clearly heard and I trust that was not coming OFF the speakers like the current 5th generation Lexus, which I personally dubbed as a FIRST GEN RX inline 4's be it turbo or hybrid or combined. Testing a new car benchmarking it with the older car always instantly make me want to get rid of my older car. Not this time comparing the 2023 RX to my 2013! But then I did not realize this was an INLINE 4. An avid RX 500H however posted in FB that hands down the 500h will smoke the older V6. I retorted I did not buy a race car and wish those users luck driving hours sustaining speed above 80 mph. But only time can tell. Does this Q60 take PREMIUM or 87 Octane? You gave me hope Josh, as I thought I will be stuck buying USED, cars. Bought last fall the 2022 RX F sport my preferred line with only 5600 miles. But I have no control on my preferred first oil change at 1000 MILES then change it every 2000 miles to 10,000 miles then follow every 6 months change. My first car a Toyota Corona in the Phillipines when back to ZERO kms and went all the way to over 100's thousands km. True story.
@rogerventorres7234 Well first I just want to set the record straight here, Toyota hasn’t suspended any EV production-they’re moving full steam ahead into EVs and alternative fuel vehicles. In case you’re not aware, Lexus is going full EV by 2030. No gas cars and no hybrid cars will wear the Lexus badge in the next 5-10 years. Here’s the thing to understand: Toyota is such a huge company that they don’t need loyal customers to buy their cars which is why you don’t see them catering to people like us. They’re catering to the off roaders because they can milk a ton of profit out of them (with a $65K Tacoma, $85K GX550, etc.). But make no mistake we are never going to see a U-turn from Toyota toward bigger engines, and it honestly won’t be long before Nissan/Infiniti and Honda/Acura also ditch bigger, naturally aspirated engines too. The QX80 as you probably know is losing its V8 for 2025 and will also be a twin-turbo V6. So if you value that, you have probably the next 2-3 years to find a car that meets your needs if you want to buy new. As for the QX60, it recommends premium but will run perfectly fine on regular gas too!
@@joshjamescars thanks for the information. So in other words, we consumers have no voice on all these as we are given the alternative as No more fossil fuel in the next 20 years.
@rogerventorres7234 No, not really. Because like it or not, we do need to move away from fossil fuels. We need to reduce our carbon footprint. People protested when seatbelts became law and when smoking was banned in public, but change happens and over time, we adapt. I love my V6 and V8 cars but I know they’re not great for the environment and that’s why I daily drive a PHEV and only take the V8 out on the weekends.
I agree 100% with every single point.. every single point. Great review, love Lexus but the last one I drove left me feeling lack luster. The Qx60 will be my next car.
Awesome review! I've been waiting so long for Lexus to introduce a true 3 row Suv and the TX was such a disappointment, between the 4cyl and the blandest interior ever. This QX is beautiful and looks like our next ride.
Disappointment is putting it lightly for me! I just drove one for review and it was appalling what they’re trying to pass off as a luxury car. Especially having driven this QX60 not long ago.
@stevencook5808 I can imagine that. It was adequate for driving with just me in the car. I wouldn’t want to add another 500-800 pounds of people to it.
YOU ARE SO RIGHT WITH THIS REVIEW. LEXUS HAS LOST IT'S WAY! I CURRENTLY HAVE A 2020 RX350 SPORT. I DECIDED TO HOLD ON TO IT IN 2024 BECAUSE NOTHING BETTER HAS COME TO MY ATTENTION. THAT IS UNTIL NOW! THANK YOU FOR YOUR GREAT REVIEW!!!
I don’t know if I’d give up a 2020 RX-that’s such a new car that you can easily get more life out of it. Unless you want a new car, in which case the QX60 is great. A 2-row QX65 which will be like the older FX is also coming out later this year which will go head to head with the RX.
I came Really close to buying this vehicle in Summer 2023. The only thing that stopped me was the fact that there is no cargo cover in the back. It is not available as an accessory. I know that may seem silly, but if i am parked somewhere with expensive items in the back, i don’t want to tempt someone to break into my vehicle. I ultimately decided to buy a 2023 Lexus GX460, instead.
As a fellow owner of a 2023 GX460 you most definitely made the right choice there. This is a great car but the GX460 is a gem from a time long since past and 23 was our last chance to get it! Also, that is so beyond strange!! I just assumed the car they gave me didn’t have it included but wow… that’s a really odd omission. Thanks for letting me know that.
Great comparison video! I am an owner of a 2017 Rx350. How you compared the QX60 to the RX350 v6 is admirable. Great comparison within the QX60 trims, as well. Seems like we have the same taste because I would get the sensory trim. Thanks to you, If I were in the market today, I already know which crossover and trim I would buy.
My wife and I went and drove one of these. When we sat in it, we loved it immediately. I loved everything about the interior and the included options. However, that all changed when we drove it. The power was not there and it sounded like a tractor. To me the Lexus 4 cylinders just drove better.
I wholeheartedly disagree but some people do prefer the more instant power of a turbo which is what you’ll get with new Lexus products. I also really don’t care for the transmission programming the Lexus cars hunt top gear like a hound dog and constantly leave you flat footed.
Love your videos and agree with you on Lexus luxuary and quality going down with the current models. Was this model the AWD version? Is the AWD responsible for less body roll than the suspension?
Thank you! Yes, all Autograph trims are AWD, and I’m not entirely sure. I didn’t get to drive a 2WD version but I have heard some people say that other QX60s do have more body roll.
Well this now has a turbo-4 for 2025. The trend is due to emissions regulations. Manufacturers HAVE TO meet government (US and abroad) standards for the overall average emissions of their portfolios. When they don’t meet those standards they get assessed penalties. And that’s why you see even Chevrolet moving to a turbo-4 in the Silverado. It’s not the automakers wanting to do so, but that the only way to force them to make more environmentally friendly cars is to get them into compliance by penalizing them financially.
It’s a great car! I always advise people test drive and make sure it’s the right fit for them, so definitely do that, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
Buy the 2024 model if you can find one, for 2025 it’s switched to a turbo-4 engine. Also on the Q7, I would hold off if you can the current Q7 is ANCIENT and we should be seeing a new one next year.
Thank you Josh for such a great review! We are on the fence between the 2024 QX60 vs the 2022 GX 460. It's a tough decision, but your review is helping.
Oh well personally I would go with a 23 GX460 if you can swing that. That’s what I own (and talk about a ton on this channel) and as a GX460 owner I would not trade mine for this. 😂😅 And I say go with a 23 GX because you can find them out there in almost new condition versus a 22 is going to be older with more mileage and closer to the expiration of its warranty.
Thank you for this. I am so disappointed in what Lexus is offering now. I will definitely check this one out. My RX is 10 years old and still runs great. It has 140,000 miles and still runs great. Every time I take it to get serviced they always tell me that I can get another 100k out of it. I just want a shiny new vehicle.
Yes! So agree at being disappointed with what Lexus is offering now. And while there isn’t anything wrong with your RX, I do firmly believe that now is the time to get one last great V6 crossover before they all go away. So definitely check out the QX60 and the MDX as well.
I agree. As much an NX and RX Lexus cost, the interiors look like you are sitting n a Toyota brand car. Also, the interior trim of color options are too limited. If Infiniti came up with hybrids...that would be a winner 🏆
It’s refreshing to hear someone giving credit where it’s due. So many reviewers approach Nissan and Infiniti with an immediate bias that they don’t truly allow themselves to appreciate the strengths that are there. The QX60 is a solid product in this class. I do think there are nicer options, but you’re going to pay way more. But yes, it’s nicer than any Lexus competitor. I have been SO underwhelmed by Lexus plain and mostly black interiors. I really feel like they’re taking advantage of their reputation. The TX is so blah and the fact that it shares so much with the TX. They literally only changed the front and rear end on the exterior. But you won’t see people calling Lexus out for that, but somehow people complain the QX60 is too much like the Pathfinder when they share not one exterior panel and even have a completely different roof line. Inside the only thing they share are the bottom of the door cards and lower bits that you really don’t see. And never mind how much better the QX60 rides. This thing should be flying off lots but people really shop badges versus the best actual product. But I have a feeling once the new QX80 is on sale, and they update the QX60, QX60 sales are going to go up. I Agree, Infiniti should be watched. The QX65 should be interesting. The fact that it’s taking a while to come to market and shares the same underpinnings as the QX60 means there is some significant difference between. I’m hoping they debut a more powerful hybrid/plugin hybrid option.
I completely agree with everything you say here. It’s why I wanted to do a video on the QX60 because a lot of my viewers who are Toyota people are so stuck in their ways and will just blindly buy the Lexus badge without regard for how mediocre the quality of the interior and drivetrain is today. I was just driving the TX yesterday and it’s abysmal to say the least. Hard plastic everywhere and the most synthetic feeling upholstery.
@@joshjamescars I get the feeling the GH and TX were rushed. I haven't been in either, but they just look so lackluster. The first time I saw a GH on the road it looked dated. Now with this recall and stop sale... Not very Toyota.
@@Simon-oq6ds I'm sorry, but this notion of Nissan going out of business is so annoying to me because it's clearly not the case. Sure they are in a rough spot, but no where near the point someone has to wonder if they're "going to be around". Though not at the top of the charts, they are profitable and trending in the right direction (profits up 51% FY2023). Nissan ain't going nowhere. When I mentioned a badge, I was speaking moreso of how so many people blindly purchase things without considering other options and doing research. I get that Toyota/Lexus has been historically reliable, but that doesn't mean they're always the best option to buy. And it doesn't mean that will always be true and the shift to being unreliable can be a very quick one. Never mind how they are now taking advantage of that reputation and charging more while they're clearly de-contenting/cheapening some of their vehicles. And to be honest, reliability is NOT and should not be a luxury... that's a very basic requirement of any purchase.
@Simon-oq6ds do some thinking on your own rather than parroting what you hear on the internet. What @bigd7386 says is right and now that Nissan has broken free of the tyranny of Renault, they and Mitsubishi have a goal of making the best cars in the world. While Toyota struggles with recalls and stop sales on Prius, Grand Highlander/TX, LX600, Tundra, and many more (they’ve issued about 9 recalls in the last 6 months).
This small channel has an oversided influence on my buying decisions due to the logical presentation of facts and opinions. Might be my next vehicle and would not normally be on my radar.
Haha! I’m never out to be an influencer, just here to share what I think. ;) But both the QX60 and QX80 are huge steps forward for Infiniti and I’m excited to see where they go!
This is where Lexus fell asleep and is just riding on their reputation. Their interiors are easily, and I mean easily being outmatched by this and newcomers like Genesis. The TX is prime example of bland and generic interior and exterior design.
Oh Acura does a better interior than Lexus, and so does Honda for that matter in certain cases. And that was never the case before. The TX is probably the worst Lexus car they’ve made. Especially the 350 which is so underpowered.
Like any car, you can get different wheels depending on which trim you buy, and of course you could always buy another set from Infiniti after market if you’d like.
Beautiful car!! Thoughts on Infiniti reliability though? It seems like Mazda has been stepping up their game as well. Toyota/Lexus should watch your videos and take notes!
Infiniti reliability especially with this engine should be quite good. As for Mazda, they have a lot of issues to work out with the CX90. Go look at the long list of recalls that have been issued on that platform. I think in 2-3 years a lot of it will have been ironed out but I’m passing on them for the moment. Also, the new I6 and PHEV power trains are brand new from the ground up and incredibly complex… it won’t cost BMW money to fix down the line but complexity and novelty inherently lead to problems in early years.
I’ve been debating trading my 2020 X5 in for a Japanese brand. I’ve had a lot of cars in my days. My last few has been all BMW. I use to love Infiniti. I use to own the M35X. One of my best cars ever but as you stated Infiniti fell off. After watching this review, I’m heading to Infiniti next week to perhaps trade my X5. Great review and was the sign I was looking for. Thank you!!!
I currently have a 2014 QX70 with 150k miles and have been thinking of trading for a Porsche Cayenne. I had a 2009 and 2012 FX and QX70 previously and have always loved the driving experience with these SUV’s. I drove the 2024 QX60 and yes a beautiful car. I am looking for something more sport and that is why I was leaning to the Cayenne. I have heard there might be a QX65 and am therefore holding off buying. Do you know anything about the QX65? Any thoughts? Great review.
Yes! Murano and QX65 are coming sometime between now and the end of the year and the QX65 will be an FX-like coupe-UV. The big difference between your QX70 and the QX65 is that yours is rear wheel drive (or RWD biased AWD) and the QX60/65 is front wheel drive (or FWD biased AWD). The Cayenne is great, but definitely make sure you are prepared to spend the money on Porsche servicing and parts (most people say to set aside about $2K a year for routine maintenance and wear items). It’s a pretty penny but to some, it’s worth it! The other one to keep an eye on is the Genesis GV80 Coupe which looks hot and should slot in between the QX65 and Cayenne in all respects (pricing, driving dynamics, etc.)
Made-in-Japan is a big feature for me. Also, direct injection is another thing to put in mind. Beautiful car though and more value for money as compared to Lexus/Toyota.
Direct injection is one of those things that was an issue back in the nineties and early 2000s but has evolved to not be problematic, especially with routine maintenance and care; but that people can’t stop complaining about today.
I used to own 2019 previous generation and didn’t like the CVT in a heavy SUV. This looks much better than that one based one your great review. Almost tempted to try one. I am very surprised not to see more of them on the road. I think Infinity/Nissan lost the trust of their customer base. I owned many Nissan products over the years including a 94 Sentra, 95 240SX, 06 350z, 14 Altima, and the 19 QX60, but the CVTs in the last two drove me to Toyota/Lexus products.
Yeah the CVT was a real dud in the last gen pathfinder and QX60. I also don’t think they marketed the QX60 well. Most people don’t really know about it, I don’t think. Also, though, if you want one, buy a 2024 while you still can because the 2025s have gone to the VC-turbo which has proven to be rather problematic.
Excellent review you were spot on people have to step back and pause about Alexis. Basically, it’s a Toyota with not much extra. How do they substantiate a price?
Well done detailed review. I will admit as someone who comes from Acura and Lexus and likes Japanese luxury the Infiniti with this package is exquisite. Glad they dumped the Nissan CVT after the 2022 model. What do you think of the 2025 model where they dumped the VQ V6 and went with VC-Q turbo 4 cylinder?
I’m not a fan. That engine and engine family has had and continues to have all kinds of problems, some of which are under investigation by the NHTSA. So… I think it’s another car that had so much potential but got cut short by moving to a questionable turbo-4.
very professional review. looking for suv, looked at lexus, toyota, etc, never considered nissan, in my opinion, everything went downhill, will take a looik now
Nissan and Infiniti were under the control of the French for the last 5-10 years (in the Nissan Renault Alliance) and that lead to a lot of the crap products we saw then. But they’ve started to separate and now Nissan is fully in control of their destiny so we should see a return to the solid and robust cars they were making in the 90s and early 2000s.
Like you, I have been a Toyota / Lexus man for years. But, I am tired of so - so cars. (And ugly) Thank you for your post. I will take a look at Infiniti.
Thank you for your informative response. We have an Envision ST and want to go a “little” bigger , add luxury and ride comfort. Would you consider a LOADED Pathfinder (platinum plus) (they are keeping the V6) ? Is there a 2 row luxury model that would work? (QX50?)
QX50 and upcoming QX65 will use the VC-turbo I4. If that’s not a concern to you, I’d actually recommend you look at the just released Murano. The Pathfinder is MASSIVE compared to your Envision. The Murano is going to be right in line with your Buick which is an almost-premium offering.
Infiniti is going to be coming out with a new QX65 which is supposed to directly compete with the Lexus RX so keep your eyes out. If they use the new design language as the new QX80 I’m sure the new QX65 is going to look sick. Infiniti has a good future ahead we just have to wait for them to deliver
Yes!!! I completely agree. I’m really hoping it comes with the same V6 the QX60 has. Rumors on Murano/QX65 have been split on whether or not it’ll move to a turbo I4.
Nissan quality is up there. Their big crutch is the CVT they were putting in absolutely everything but their cars are solid. Especially relative to Toyota’s new cars which are riddled with problems (Grand Highlander, TX, Prius are all on stop sale due to non-compliance safety issues and Tundra/LX600 are on recall due to engines failing).
Nice review, thank you. It’s nice to see some independent thinking as opposed to “Toyotas and Lexus are great, don’t buy anything else”. I really like the look of this car. Again, really nice thought out review. I want a Nissan Rogue, I just wish the engine was simpler
Thank you! Go for the Mitsubishi Outlander. Same platform but built in Japan and with the older 2.0L NA I4. I’d argue it’s also much nicer looking inside and out than the Rogue. My father in law has an 08 Rogue, built in Japan, with the same ending and he has 255K miles on the original engine and CVT.
I think it depends on what you value in a car. Rav4 is going to offer a hybrid which neither Rogue nor Outlander does and to me is a miss because most others in the segment do. The Rav hybrid is simply the best driving appliance you can get from a value/drive/reliability perspective. I don’t personally care for the Rogue’s 3-cylinder turbo and CVT combo and that would count the Rogue out entirely for me. I had one as a rental car for a couple weeks this past winter and the drivetrain didn’t feel well sorted. In the pure gas models, the Outlander and Rogue also have CVTs where the RAV4 has an 8-speed automatic. But the Outlander PHEV is great and definitely more luxurious than the Rav4 Prime.
Except... the new QX60 comes with the VC Turbo 4-cylinder. We just got the 2025MY QX60 at our dealer and I was pulling one into my bay for a PDI. When I started the car, I was thinking the starter motor sounded very different, then suddenly remembered the news of them switching to a 4-cylinder. I opened the hood and sure enough, it says "VC Turbo" on the engine cover. On the bright side, they finally updated the keyfob so it no longer looks like a Nissan fob with an Infiniti logo on it.
Yeahhhh that got announced about 3 months after I got to drive it. NHTSA is investigating that engine for failures too, so we shall see how that plays out for them. As for the key I actually didn’t mind the old one, it was so small and light just like Honda’s. Not the giant key fobs most cars have today.
@@joshjamescars Yup, buddy next to me pulled a car in with a ticking. Turns out the VC solenoid/motor was bad. Its honestly the first time I've seen it, but no doubt we'll probably start seeing more come in as they get higher mileage. Then again I pulled a QX50 with the VC Turbo in with a 132,000 miles and it was just getting an oil change. Maybe they're hit or miss.
Hello! I’m not an actual car reviewer, I just do this for fun as a side hobby, so have not done a video on the CX70/90. Though, personally I’m not a huge fan of it. I fall into the camp that thinks it’s rather ugly. I am hoping to get the QX80, though!
@@joshjamescars I am sure you’ve seen the “takumi” interiors and the new inline 6 engines that Mazda invested into. Also there’s an interesting series of behind the scene infomercials that Mazda did with the Shogun actor Hiroyuki Sanada.
I have, but I’ve also seen all the issues they’re having at the moment with their engines and platforms as a result of the car being brand new from the ground up. And, having worked in automotive advertising for clients like Honda, Toyota, Subaru, Ford, and Volvo; I tend to not put too much stock in what the flashy videos they put out say about their products.
Oh, QX60 for sure. The QX50 still has a Nissan CVT and that’s a hard pass for me. But tell him not to buy yet because there will be a QX65 coming out which will be a two row version of this in a more coupe-UV body style (like the OG FX) and that’s what I would go for.
In the total time I had the car it averaged around 23 mpg which is right in the stated 20 city/25 highway range. And typical for a naturally aspirated V6. It also does not require premium gas.
@@joshjamescars Thanks for the info. To compare my 2022 RX 350 prem gets about 33 in eco mode with cruse set to 55 on highway. No traffic This just for info. I think we should compare the weight to see if the QX60 is heaver.
Great job showing us more Japanese options ❤ Very nice interior! Wondering if I will see this in your driveway soon lol 😂 I like it but definitely like smaller.. what do you think of Qx50-55? Ps I am ok with 4 cylinders lol.. you’re a 6 cylinder snob 😂…
Hello again!!! And haha, probably not. Just because I wouldn’t want to give up any of our current cars. As for the size, later this year Infiniti will be coming out with a QX65 which will be a slightly smaller, 2-row Coupe-UV based on this QX60 which I’m super excited for. The QX50 and 55 have the old Nissan CVT which I don’t like, so I’d pass on them but if they were to bring out a new version of them with a real automatic, then we could definitely be in business!
Ok so what’s your opinion on the new 2025 4-cylinder? Looking at purchasing one now, but trying to decide if I should look for a gently used 2024 to get the V6.
The V6 is a definite buy, the turbo 4… well… I’ll just leave this here for you 😅: www.thedrive.com/news/nissans-variable-compression-engine-failures-are-under-federal-investigation
5:11 I think the Sensory & Autograph trims should both have body color paint matched wheel arches & side skirts as a visual difference between the Luxe & Pure trims. Or even the Luxe should get it to signify they're the higher trims of the QX60
I completely agree. It should at least be painted in gray the way Volvo and Audi do on their Cross Country and All Road wagons if they want it to visually stand out.
Would you buy a 2024 with the V6 (while they are still out there) or be happy with the turbo 4 in the 2025? Love you review and love this QX60. Just disappointed in the engine change - I think.
I would 100% buy a 2024 with the V6. The VC Turbo engines are being investigated by the NHTSA for premature engine failure and other problems. Until that gets sorted, I would stay far away from that.
CX90 is an entirely new product from the ground up and has some issues that need to be worked out (many have reported that the transmission in the I6 has some weird behaviors that need to get refined out) and so like any new product I always say give those a year or two. And with the CX90’s engines being brand new, homegrown designs, reliability should be treated as a question mark. Acadia, Traverse, and Enclave are out for me because they all use a tiny 2.0L turbo-I4 and I think that’s just WAY too big a car for such a small engine.
I am putting this car on my short list to replace my awesome (but getting up in miles Audi S6). On another topic, I am tempted to buy a 4 Runner before the last of the old school Toyotas totally disappear. If you had not bought a TRD Pro, what is your next favorite trim?
Hello! A few thoughts. Since you’re coming from an S6, I would probably go with an MDX Type-S instead. They’re about $5-10K more than a QX60, but the TT V6 in the Type-S is outstanding and worth the premium. It also rides and drives more like a sedan which you might prefer given that you’re coming from a sedan. As for the 4Runner, I would at the Limited is my favorite. I bought the TRD Pro really only for the resale which I knew would be higher (and it was). But when it comes to the 4Runner Limited, you can get a CPO 22-23 GX460 for about the same price and I’d much rather have that. I own a 23 GX460 that I bought new and it’s a MUCH better car than a 4R Limited.
@@joshjamescars Thanks. Have MDX Type S on the list also, but hoping I strike oil or win the lottery so I can pick up an Audi S8. Keep the great content coming!
Whether it’s “better” would depend what you need. This is a great luxury unibody crossover meant for on road driving. The GX is a non-luxury, body on frame, dedicated off-roader that’s great at that but not much else.
I4 turbo for 2025
Agree completely - Lexus interiors have lost all sense of luxury in design and materials.
Nissan, Honda, Acura, Ford, Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis also still use NA V6s in their midsize SUVs.
there’s something refreshing about not having to worry about pissing people off with your opinions, and i love it!!!!
If you are shopping between a used 2021 Lexus GX460 and this, what would you choose??
Haha, yes!!! I’m not here to amass a huge viewer base. I’m here to speak my mind to like minded people. :)
Probably the GX460 because it’s old Lexus quality and reliability. This QX60 is great (and better than the GX in some ways), but I just love the GX460. Ask me what I want to be driving in 50 years? It’s the GX460.
Though, 2021 was also the last year of the LX570 so take a look at those as well if you’re willing to drive something larger.
It's called an opinion....people get way too sensitive....keyboard warriors, etc. Josh keeps it real. And I love it.
Someone I knew bought this car....I was very impressed. I'm feeling rather "low rent" in my Toyota now lol.
Oh but you have a Camry V6, as good as this QX60 is, nothing is going to drive nearly as well as our Camrys. ;)
test drive this car yesterday. Absolutely the best car I drive this year. Really smooth and the car is the very quiet. Definitely miles ahead of this gen of rx350.
Agreed! If you’re in the market, buy soon. It’s losing the V6 for the 2025 model year, sadly.
@@joshjamescarswhy are they doing this mistake again ? We need Infiniti to know our feedback! How do we do so ?
Great job showing us more Japanese options ❤
Very nice interior!
Facts. Test drove this, new mdx and rx; quite surprised how more luxurious to drive qx60 was than the latter two.
Great choice! And good for you getting the last year of the V6. Hold onto that for a good long time.
I bought qx60 2024...i love it and very much recommended to everyone
Same here! 2024 w V6
Congratulations 🎊🎉
I was a Toyota fan boy until 2015 when I switched to Nissan because of toyota tax and I can honestly say Nissan/infiniti make a better products.
Camry vs ES
86/BRZ vs RC
Corolla Cross vs UX
Venza vs NX
Crown Signia vs RX
Grand Highlander vs TX
Land Cruiser vs GX
Sequoia vs LX
That means IS, LS and LC are the only unique Lexus left.
@@jaymum23 Wow yeah I agree. Infiniti in the 2000s was a bargain BMW and they were trying. Let's hope it's amazing from the Tri-Alliance :)
@@ag4eng Should be the RX350h has the same engine as Rav4 and Camry but more power but adding e-AWD or more motors... Like 300 hp base not 246 hp...
@@BigdisplacementI6The 2023 RX 350h has 246hp. I have one and this suv struggles. I think it’s too heavy.
Still rocking my 2003 Infiniti I35. Still reliable
Nice Max
I just found your channel, and I'm so glad I did. I couldn't agree more with you on the interiors of cars these days. I'm sick of the sea of black everywhere or just the seat tops being a different color. When I saw the new Lexus interior design, I thought, "Where's the luxury?" and wrote it off my list of desirable cars. They seem to be focused on technology more than luxury, and I want both.
Well welcome aboard! Glad to have you here, and thanks for watching! And same!! So many of these cars are just lackluster inside to cut costs… not appropriate for luxury, IMO.
Yeah same here you have earned a subscriber here ❤
Josh I like your presentation. It’s very precise, clear, and valuable. Thanks
Thank you!
So smooth, interior, ride quality, powertrain, looks, use. Thanks Josh, I hope that folks pick your offer up and buy these! Very impressed.
Thank you for watching! I was so impressed by this one!
Yes!! Could not agree more with you on all counts. Especially the TX. Sad is the perfect word for it.
Cheers!
You deserve so many more subscribers....excellent content!
Thank you!
Really looks like a serious contender to the RX, and the interior is beautiful, great review! 🔥
Yes, and thank you! There’s also a QX65 coming out which will be a 2-row, slightly smaller (or shorter) crossover based on this QX60 that will be a true successor to the OG FX which will directly target RX!
@@joshjamescarsNice! Looking forward to seeing how it looks, the original FX had such a striking style 🤌

LOL , You funny Josh while you did not say anything while you were driving so we could here how quiet the cabin really is 😂
Happy to see Nissan rise again. Proud Nissan owner🎉
Wait until you see the new QX80 in person! ;)
Had a G35 and current owner of G37! Best Handling ! Was thinking of jumping over to a Toyota/Lexus SUV but I may have to rethink it!
Yep! Sadly another one bites the dust.
Oh yeah. That is an OUTSTANDING engine! I’d miss it too!
Another awesome and very informative video Josh!! 😎Love the humor and honesty. ;).
Haha! Glad you enjoyed!! Thanks as always for watching!
I agree 100% with every single point.. every single point.
Great review, love Lexus but the last one I drove left me feeling lack luster.
The Qx60 will be my next car.
Buy one soon, the 2025 has lost the V6 in favor of the problematic VC turbo I4 and I wouldn’t buy one of those.
Definitely also test drive the MDX as well. Both are great, though the MDX is oddly missing third row air vents.
@@joshjamescars I currently own a 2020 MDX which I like. Definitely want another V6
@@joshjamescars and truthfully I think there will be issues with the TX engine especially trying to move 7 passengers. No good
@stevencook5808 I can imagine that. It was adequate for driving with just me in the car. I wouldn’t want to add another 500-800 pounds of people to it.
Love my FX37 for the VQ37, and with it being RWD it drives like a dream.
I love that you still have one badged FX. We need to go back to that!
Your videos are top notch. I value your opinions
Thank you so much!!
Thank you! And thanks for watching! And yes! I really like the Sensory trim. It’s got what I want and doesn’t have what I don’t! Cheers!
You had me at “I’m going to kill the auto start/stop.”
I think might buy one of these because of your great review.
It’s a great car! I always advise people test drive and make sure it’s the right fit for them, so definitely do that, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
I agree with you about the plastic wheel well liners. They look cheap.
Thank you in the market for a new car for my wife we will be test driving this great review new subscriber
Great choice! Definitely also give the MDX a look too.
I agree with other auto makers cheap-ing out on materials. However, they don’t make them more affordable.
Yes, it’s not in the name of affordability for the consumer but rather profits for the manufacturer.
Another great information packed video. Thanks Josh
Thank you!! And thanks as always for watching!
I'm looking at Q7 but this is making me give qx60 a chance. It looks great
Buy the 2024 model if you can find one, for 2025 it’s switched to a turbo-4 engine.
Totally agree with this review. Great information.
Thank you and thanks as always for watching!
You are not wrong, but that damn thing is selling like hot cake. Cut cost while making record sales? Who wouldn’t want that? Who could blame them?
Oh Acura does a better interior than Lexus, and so does Honda for that matter in certain cases. And that was never the case before. The TX is probably the worst Lexus car they’ve made. Especially the 350 which is so underpowered.
@joshjamescars I'm asian lexus is the best what you talkin bout??
Yes I don’t like the turbo 4 in the in tx 350 it’s the little engine that could is best way to describe it
Sorry, not sorry--love it!!
Great video, so nice to hear there is another option to consider. Does Infiniti offer other wheel options? Thanks for the video.
Like any car, you can get different wheels depending on which trim you buy, and of course you could always buy another set from Infiniti after market if you’d like.
This is a really awesome review.
Since there will be no more V8 SUV from Dodge, I'm so liking this QX60.
It’s a great choice!! And yeah, as a V8 SUV owner I feel your pain. Check out the MDX Type S too. Not a V8 but a really nice twin turbo V6,
Beautiful car!!
Fantastic! Do be aware the 2025 has ditched this engine for a less reliable turbo I4, so try to get a 2024 if you can.
@@joshjamescars Noted!! Thank you so much for replying. Appreciate that
I currently have a 2014 QX70 with 150k miles and have been thinking of trading for a Porsche Cayenne.
What’s so unbelievably clutch about these QX60s is that they depreciate like a rock, so you can buy one heavily discounted with almost no miles on it
Absolutely!
I don’t understand. Buy one used for cheap?
@@joshjamescars oh wow on the turbo option, thanks for the advice
Thanks Josh. It's beautiful.

Thanks Josh, it takes me a long time to make decisions:)
Excellent review you were spot on people have to step back and pause about Alexis. Basically, it’s a Toyota with not much extra. How do they substantiate a price?
“The badge” LOL. That’s about all you’re getting now. And a slightly more fine tuned suspension (aka Lexus Driving Signature).
This colour is beautiful
Could not agree more on the “so-so” cars. They’re good enough is good enough today.
Yeah, V6 Go! I love this nice design and better materials, just not sure about its quality.
@@joshjamescarsBut 9at ZF had bad reputations before.
@@joshjamescars Thanks for responding. I too like what Nissan is becoming. Question, what’s your honest assessment of Robue or Outlander vs. RAV 4?
Thanks man, that really really helps me a ton. Your clarifications has n this are really valuable. Again, thank you.
Except... the new QX60 comes with the VC Turbo 4-cylinder.
Very nice inside and out!
Nissan is making a huge comeback.
I love the exterior of the QX60. I was considering it but ultimately went with the Pathfinder.
Both are great choices! The Pathfinder definitely comes in at a much nicer price point.
@@joshjamescars yep that was the ultimate decision.
Thanks for covering this. Can’t wait for you to check out the QX80.
Did you cover the Mazda CX90/70 yet?
What do you think of the qx50?My brother's in a dilemma between thin and the qx50 for the long term
Oh, QX60 for sure. The QX50 still has a Nissan CVT and that’s a hard pass for me. But tell him not to buy yet because there will be a QX65 coming out which will be a two row version of this in a more coupe-UV body style (like the OG FX) and that’s what I would go for.
Great review and totally agree with you.
Thanks for watching as always!
What was your MPG on your test drive?
In the total time I had the car it averaged around 23 mpg which is right in the stated 20 city/25 highway range. And typical for a naturally aspirated V6. It also does not require premium gas.
@@joshjamescars Thanks for the info. To compare my 2022 RX 350 prem gets about 33 in eco mode with cruse set to 55 on highway. No traffic This just for info. I think we should compare the weight to see if the QX60 is heaver.
Amazing review thank you
Thank you!
I will be test driving and may consider
I actually own a 2019 QX50 Sensory it has been bullet proof and a much better vehicle than the MB it replaced. 115k no issues. The VC Turbo rocks
Great to hear!!
Great job showing us more Japanese options ❤
Very nice interior!
Wondering if I will see this in your driveway soon lol 😂
I like it but definitely like smaller.. what do you think of Qx50-55?

Off topic for this video but what about the Mazda CX90 or GMC Acadia Denaili ?
$60k for good ride , luxury type interior and good performance.
Nice lookin interior.
Curious to see a review from you on the Mazda CX-70/90
If I can get one I’d definitely give it a go!
I saw your review of Lexus GX's new version. So you think this is better?
Whether it’s “better” would depend what you need. This is a great luxury unibody crossover meant for on road driving. The GX is a non-luxury, body on frame, dedicated off-roader that’s great at that but not much else.
Great review, what color is this one here ? Thank you.
Can’t remember off the top of my head but it’s mentioned at the beginning of the video in a caption.
