I would just like to say that this is the single most important aspect of trading. I've been trading full time for one year, putting in 10 hours a day to learn everything myself, and only recently realized this concept on my own. Everything changed from that moment. This is only the second video I've seen of Adam Khoo and I've never heard of him before so this isn't an endorsement of him. I just want to emphasize that truly understanding the Risk to Reward concept and everything mentioned in this video is the difference between losing money and making a fortune. Adam your videos are invaluable. Thank you for this. A quick tip for the Position Sizing Calculator...if you use the ABS() formula for all the red cells, you will get a value rather than a blank cell (or negative) when entering a short position.

We also need to factor in commissions as well though, right? For a small account (most beginners) trying to be built, commissions can make a big difference.
Also, when buying stocks in other countries/currencies, be aware of the exchange rate that your broker will give you on the buy and sell (it will different from the spot price [another way the broker makes money!]). This will also eat into profits.

Thank you for an excellent and most professional video. Position sizing came as a totally new concept to me and I'm so happy that you have explained it so well.
I just have one question- What should you do if you take a position as a swing trader and neither your stop-loss nor your profit level gets triggered? For example, lets say I take a long position and buy a share at $100 with stop-loss at $95 and profit-level at $110, and then wait for action to happen. The share however closes at $97 , and now I have an unsold share of value $97 on my hands on the next day!
In such a situation what should be my strategy the next day? Should I again deploy the share with the same stop-loss of $95, or this time move the stop-loss to $92 and the profit-line to $107? What should be our logical and strategic move?
I shall be most grateful if you could shed some light on this dilemma.

While I do follow the risk management strategy that Adam outlines (risk 1R for at least 2R where R = 1-2% of capital) , I think the expectation for BAC example is a bit optimistic. In the BAC trade, the stock would have to rise 16% to get to 2R ($8.60 to $10.00). So the swing trade would happen over months, not days or weeks. The stock hit the stop loss, the stock would have dropped 8%. Having said that, thank-you again for another great video!

Good explanation. Only problem with this kind of position sizing is that you lose more in your losing trades then you win in your winning trades, Since the lost trade risk was calculated from higher amount then the win that you had after the loss. More conservative way is to resize your position risk once a while (once per day/week/month).
For example, if you resize your positions once a week, all this week your risk for all your trades winning and losing is the same.
