My heart goes out to the families of the teenagers who were killed. What scares me is that the 14 year old who was killed trying to get food is in the same grade level and goes to the same school as my sister.

Interesting. I had a friend in grade school who's mom would drive him to the house of a kid that bullied him, just so the boys could fight. My friend ended up teaching the bully a lesson, but the whole idea that a parent would drive their child into battle seemed odd. I was only about ten years old. The story got out on the playground, and my friend became the new bully...

exactly. this is, imo, gang related. people don't like the idea of 14 year olds having power, running around acting bad in the streets, but they are and have been since before that kid's dad was born. people are just more trigger happy now, more desperate for any amount of income, any way to tip the scales in their favor. it could be as simple as these kids dealing a lil weed together and accidentally stepping on someone else's territory they didn't even know about.

A friend was a juvenile court judge in California. He is Jewish. He told me some lawyers and judges from Germany came to observe to see how we did things here in the U.S. They were shocked we could prosecute juveniles as adults. He was chagrined.
It doesn't matter what anybody wants to "hear". As truly terrible as all this is. That boy is still just a child. It doesn't change this horrible crime. But it is also a "fact" that he is a child.

@@omi_god In the United States, according to the US supreme court, it is unconstitutional to execute a juvenile - which is odd because that's not in the constitution and juries don't seem to have any problem voting death for kids. That's what jury trials are all about.

Hope he can read or has someone to put money on his books for a radio because that's all the distraction he will have. Maybe a few colored pencils and paper to draw on. If someone puts money on his books. Only one visit a week through plexiglass. He will never feel the touch of another human being other than the guards putting him in shackels. And if he gets wrote up too many times for breaking rules he will sit in complete solitary with nothing to do except 1 or 2 books and a pencil and paper. Cant holler to other inmates and no radio. This is going to be quite the vacation.

And his enemies are part of a smaller Mexican gang WW13 or something like that. Its just crazy the dad was involved. Well, he's going to be found and tried as an adult. Hopefully the father will be charged with a capitol crime too, allowing a Texas jury to levy the death penalty. Dallas county has the highest rate of executions. Those poor young boys and there families. I'm a 6th generation Texan, and to me this absolutely meets the " that man needs killing" criteria. Save your criticism of Texas. We don't care.
In Texas we have the law of parties, making the dad guilty of the crime of capital murder just like the son. Polunski unit in Livingston ( where death penalty convicts live) will be housing the dad before long . He will exhaust his appeals within 7 to 9 years and be put to death in Huntsville. I dont know if they will give the death penalty to a 14 year old. I thing there is a ruling against that. Not sure he can even get life . I just hope they can find a way not to let him out at 18 or 21. This looks like gang stuff. Hope he doesn't cross the border.

Garland, TX., where this occurred is a suburb of Dallas, WAY far north in the State. I hope the boy is captured before he can flee too far. He may try (or be assisted) with getting to Mexico...probably the only place he'll escape justice.
