- My gas generator is in pieces.
So I put in an electric one instead.
Along with power upgrades we are starting to cook some delicious local foods on Supernova with our electric induction cooktop.

Beautiful 0:34 you guys are so real. Keep rolling Tamerind juice is so nice 13:16
I have now watched every episode, and what a breathe of fresh air you are.. i thougt of one thing if you are having problems with freshwater leaks, you should not youse sika but bytul it is much more flexible.
Most jobs are never just easy! Coconut is loving sea life!💜💜💜
Your passion really shows! We are refitting our catamaran and loving every step of it!
Nice! looking forward to meeting you on the water when you are done!
@sailing.supernova Thank you so much ❤️🔥❤️
My favorite parts of your videos are your interaction with each other and you two doing renovations/upkeep, even when frustrating.
I love the way you guys work together. It's obviously essential on an adventure like yours but I'm impressed
Team work makes the dream work haha :-)
Niice! We are going electric in the galley as well and keeping gas as a redundancy in case. As always - love the pink!
You will love an electric galley! its one of the best things about this boat!
Make sure you get some silicon mat for the top, it will be the best 19 bucks you spend!
A back up to a back up is always a good idea!
I feel followed. You guys really follow the nice people.
it'd be a good idea to get a magnet on a stick for lost screws etc... really helpful.
Great idea! We'll get one for next time, those things are handy for sure 🙂
@@sailing.supernova as long as they are NOT stainless steel
I smiled when I hear the man from the Caribbean said it's first time he's having tamarind juice
haha it was so good!
It’s called a security torxs screw , you can get a set of screw driver bits on line very cheap..good luck .. thanks for sharing😊😊😊
Thanks! It was a real pain to get them out. we have ordered 2 sets :-)
I like your workbench. An American pipe fitter went to South Korea to train them to fit pipes. He was disgusted to see them squatting on the floor all day. He told them worktables and after they made the tables he said tomorrow when I come to work I want to see all of you using the new tables. The next morning when he opened the shop door they had the piping on the tables and they were walking on the tables and squatting like a flock of chickens.
I wanted to try the fritters and juice so bad 😂 looked very yummy! Loved the drone footage, beautiful
Coco playing with the string then looking so innocent both times you panned down to her, such a cutey 🐾
Nice plus for the battery working well, best wishes for fixing up the AC, always another job to do but keep up the good work to have more fun adventures ⛵️
Enjoy your week!❤
Thanks heaps, you too! :-)
Another nice video! Thanks for sharing!
We really appreciate you watching and glad you liked the video :-)
Hi. Enjoyed the video. Wow, So many boats in the anchorage. Pretty frustrating working on that generator. Thanks for sharing. Coconut sure looks happy.
Thanks heaps, yea there are so many boats here, so many stories!
We are going to take on the generator again tomorrow haha
And since you already have the security screws out, you can always replace them with matching Philips head screws
Yup, plus we have ordered the right screw head to :-)
In your drone footage I cannot believe all of the sail boats that are in your anchorage. Happy to see that you're getting some boat projects done. I don't blame you I would have tabled that generator as well for another day sometimes it's better to put things down and start fresh but happy to see that you're getting some stuff done. Hope you figure out your AC problem as always stay safe and God bless
We are going to try and figure out the generator tomorrow and the AC to :-)
That sunset drone footage is beautiful! 🌅
Thanks heaps, I'm glad you enjoyed it! 🙂
Perfect timing. I was watching your video while doing the dishes, and trying to get myself motivated to get some projects done today. Watching you motivated me! Yay! Thanks for great videos
everything is easier after the dishes are done :-)
We are planning a big day for tomorrow! hope you have a great day tomorrow to :-)
Coconut sleeps on the solarpanels because they can get very hot, cats are basically fireproof, mine goes to sleep literally on the radiator when its 100 degrees C.
That's a fair point... We thought she was just against solar energy hahah :-)
... and now you are a lil bit safer :) well done 👍
Thanks heaps :-)
Good job!
Thanks heaps!
Have a great week!
Thanks heaps! you too :-)
Safe journeys !
Thanks heaps :-)
#1 rule... always have the right tools
Send me an address so I can send you a set of fit everything torx bits. There must be 4 or 5 sets in the shop. Do you need a hex drive handle for the bits?
Looks like Cpt. Coconut is learning the ropes ❤
You always bring a smile to my face.
Thanks heaps for the offer, we have just ordered some today haha, we have 2 sets on the way.
It really sucks that they put that bit there, but we should have checked every bolt on it when we bought it.
Super happy you are enjoying the videos :-)
You can actually buy the torx head for the screws they usually come in a set but not sure if you can get them where you are.. where I am from you can pick them up at an auto supply shop. over here it is Supercheap Auto
We ordered a set with the whole in the middle, should get them in a month or two haha
That breaker is inappropriate for a lithium battery. Dangerous actually. You need to replace it with a fuse that has a has an appropriate AIC rating.
Good luck with all of the boat jobs, will you be able to do address the fuel tank issue while on anchor, Coco looks ready for a little stroll on the leash on one of those beautiful beaches, see ye next Friday 💖
yup, we will be cutting the floor soon :-)
@ good luck, you can do it, wish I was there to help 💖
dab of superglue on the tip of metal tweezers to get that screw out of the fan?
Good idea, we are going to try and get it out tomorrow so we are collecting ideas, yours in on the list!
@@sailing.supernova a mini magnet glued in the end of a straw is another option?
You guys need to get flexible magnet tool for when you drop stuff in tight places i can't do any repairs with out one.
Nice 👍🏻
Thanks heaps :-)
For. Fritters…. Need to go into how to with those
yea they were super good haha :-)
It was a cornbread fritter :-)
Hay I am just looking at your vid that set of tips next to the generator I would bet there is a torx tip in there that will fit.
Good eye! and you would be right, but its not just a torx bit, it needs to have a hole in the middle to, Honda made it like that to make you have to bring it into a dealership if something goes wrong.
Could the E1 code from the AC be a power issue? How long did the AC run before the code came up?
it was running for about 5 minutes, when we looked it up it said it was waterflow, we have done a bit of trouble shooting today (that was filmed last night) and we are 100% sure its the water before it gets to the AC, so it could be the strainer or it could be the pump. It could also be a flow problem becasue the supply pipe has a T in it and its also used for the water maker. but at least we know the AC is good :-)
@ awesome. At least it’s something easy to fix (unlike the Honda generator)
10:02 tilt the sieve!
hahaha next time :-)
I had to bleed mine to make it work. AC is great to have.
We are going to do some troubleshooting today, we miss the AC haha
There are a lot of inverter generators for much lower prices right now, and more powerful than that Honda, should you decide you'd still like to have a backup/alternate power source. Lowest prices I've seen for inverter generators, at about $300-$350 for a 2600-watt generator. The new ones also come ready for parallel connection with another inverter generator, so you could buy 2 for less than the price of a Honda. You know the saying, two is one and one is none. (I have a little 500w generator that I can use, if need be, for charging batteries. It sips gas.)
Just out of curiosity, who do you think is going to break into your boat and ignore the cameras, electronics, laptops, i.e. in order to change your pin?
You two should know by now what thieves are after.
4:01 instead of breaking 2 screw drivers could you not have soldered/welded one onto the bolt and unscrewed it. Heat it back up to knock the driver back off after it was back together??? Curious
It was down a long-ish tunnel so that may not have worked, its a very smart idea though :-)
Hey guys, the Torx bits have been around for a many years and are pretty common, A set of Torx bit screw drivers or sockets are not terribly expensive and should be a part of any tool kit. You can absolutely change them to a Phillips bit if you like. The spring in for the pull cord is called a clock spring and they're an absolute pain in the ass. Good job! Just out of curiosity, why spend so much money on both of those generators and not buy new alternators? At least one and keep the generator as a back up?
We do have a torx bit, but this one needed a hole in the middle, its an anti tamper bit, we have order the right bit but we won't get it for a month lol.
We have 2 alternators that don't work, and we will be working on them very soon. Redodo gave us the battery so that didn't cost us anything, we got the gas generator in Alaska, We have 4000 watts of solar so as soon as we left Alaska we have never really needed more power, but we really just want to fix the alternators, but its been very hard with 2 different people that have been paid to fix them and have not been able to. but we will get it done soon!
Coco can pass tools, she just chooses not to. Get some normal bolts for the generator, don’t put those stupid ones back in.
haha she is just lucky she is cute haha.
Good idea on replacing the screws!
Lots of lovely sunsets but never the green flash. Why?
❤👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thanks heaps :-)
Weird it has the nipple torx.
Thought that was just for anti theft.. that sux.
Ya it should not be used for something like a generator, what if we really need power and the pull cord broke, we could have been in a lot of trouble.
hmmm, how about to try a vaccum cleaner to get the skrew out
Great idea, we are charging up the vacuum cleaner now, we are going to hook it up to a little straw so we can get it in there :-)
@@sailing.supernova good luck
These are called security torx bits. So annoying that they’re used in this application. You could buy the bits or just replace the screws with regular ones?
I think we will do both, we want to buy the bits plus change out the screws, There really is no good reason to put them in there.
Did you fasen the batter down,.
Battery, sorry.
There is some blocks in place, it will get a strap before we go anywhere :-)
Nice, but,……when are you going to repair your alternators?
Darcy, I heard you say you have 2640ah of power with this new battery. How many watts of solar do you have?
A torx bit isn’t custom, lol.
its one with a hole in the middle, its for anti tamper, they should not have used it there.
You pulled to far on the cord. Short pulls
We think the cord broke at about half way out. it was a really cheap pull cord.
Love you guys! Still waiting to see Darcy in that pink Bikini! You said you’d give the people what we want… still waiting! 👙
haha you maybe have to wait a bit but I'm sure i can get him to lose a bet at some point haha

Go over all emergency procedures..no more sad stories..
Hey, if you are big fan of soda water/soda. I would recommend getting one of those big co2 canisters instead of soda stream bottles that only last a while and you can't get everywhere. You can then either get adapter for soda stream to pipe co2, or just do it straight into the bottle via small attachment without the soda stream. Good thing is that those last for a long time, and you can most likely get/fill them almost anywhere unlike soda stream. It also should be cheaper overall for what you get. Something like kegland products.
Great minds think alike haha, we have a huge C02 bottle, we got it to use for drinks, but we have not hooked it up yet. And now we need it for welding the fuel tank so we can't use it for drinks till we are done that lol
@@sailing.supernova Nice!
Soda water is bad for your teeth.
So you couldn't repair a generator and installed a large battery?! The title is misleading, just like the last couple of clickbait videos. unsubscribed!
Sorry you didn't like the video or the title, we try and make sure that they are relevant to the video without giving away the video itself so it would still be fun to watch.
would be happy to hear some title suggestions for this video :-)
Wow lots of sailors and boats. But captain coconut could have fixed that generator 😊
