He's been in my 'bones, bones, bones' for my entire life. Like him, I've got 'a tiny little future and a great big past.' He makes me smile whenever I hear his name.
He is just my favorite song writer. I was a student of his back in the early 80s when he lived in Iowa City & though you get a glimpse of his genius though his music, until you have spent some time w/ him, you have no idea of his creativity, unselfishness, sense of humanity & humor. Although his approach to the guitar has morphed the years, it's still wonderful & complex self-accompaniment. He's just a treasure.
Heard a great busker playing “Dream On” in Harvard Square, early 2012... had to ask him what he was playing it sounded so beautiful. He said “Dream On” by Greg Brown. Had never heard of you till then He had CDs for sale too... all Greg Brown Every now and again I wonder if it was actually you...
Settin' out here on my old house patio in the country with my old dog curled up by my feet, sippin' coffee, watchin' the darkness turn to light - hearin' the birds wake up from their roost and for some strange, cosmic, no-explanation-why - this video popped up in my suggested videos! So I clicked play. My dog stirred. My eyes opened a little more - although I think that was mainly from another morning chug of my 'Mississippi mud' coffee - and I listened. I once played a bunch of Greg's tunes at a country pot luck we once had one Saturday after the 4th of July in Highlandville, IA - just about 5 miles from Seed Savers in Decorah, where Greg was playing that same evening. I couldn't make it to the show - but it was a nice substitute and many at the potluck sure enjoyed his music too. To cap things off here, I had never heard Greg sing a falsetto and when he began to belt that out - it made me chuckle! Not that 'funny' kind of chuckle - but rather - that kind that comes from inside because I didn't know whether to laugh or die laughin'! heh heh heh. More I listened, I sincerely appreciated why he was having such enjoyment singing that! It's like adding good seasoning to some steamed vegetables!
Hey, Greg, I like your viewpoints there, and appreciate that diversity of up&down. Sometimes I think that's why we showed up. keep 'em coming. Hope to see ya around in NC again.
I love the way he plays guitar. The bottom end and the high strings like a maestro. Makes me want to get a thumb pick and see if I could learn that style.
Hey Greg, Been a fan since we saw you at the Lutsen festival in the early 80's. My then teenage daughter and I finally saw eye to eye on music...yours! (She's in her late 40's now and has been to several of your concerts near Decorah, seed- savers.) Tonight my sister and I saw a ring around the moon, and I found your lyrics from the song from the "44 & 66" CD in my old head. Happens a lot man. Thanks for all the great poetry, tunes and memories.
Hey, don't be afraid to play down in NC. There are folks that want to hear you. Maybe others that should, that don't know it. But I'd love to see you down here again! Saw you twice, but it's been so long....

John Prine was a treasure, always there for all those deeds. He is missed by so many.
That music stirs my soul. So good.

Hey joe, if you’re ever on the west side of Minneapolis, let’s go floating around. Take a piss in Minnetonka. Wear a life jacket upside down....
What an American Treasure most don’t know about. Incredible performer. Hope he is well here in October 2021.
Thank you for the love, Greg, you are a gift to us all.
The Upper Peninsula is one of the prettiest places in the entire World....And this is great music...Thanks Greg!!!

Greg Brown is transcendent. Difficult to find better words. Better anything. Thank you. Love, Al Chapman

Anyone watching this because they’re homesick for Iowa?
Greg is an OG x end of, unsung legend, a musicians muso.
Can we just pay some respect to that dusty ol Martin Guitar. As a Martin owner myself, that’s how they should look! Respect ❤
Indeed!

We saw his lady with Prine. One of us needs to hold still long enough to cross paths. Meet you in the garden, brother.
Trying to get John Prine in trouble, pal?

Greg is always very good - add a little Bo Ramsey & you're gone
dick dewater, agreed throw Bo Ramsey in & the heavens open...Greg's daughter Peta has put out some mind bending work too..
He fell deep in the blues. Too deep. For me, he was at the top oh his game on "further in". After that, it's cold and dark and wet.
Last great American poet...
🌚
He seems a little...drunkish.
That's his style; not his lifestyle
That sounded a lot like my drunk uncle.
the third tune was a Skip James rip off... if you're gonna stand on a man's shoulders at least give him some credit...
Can't believe he's a democrat, I thought he was smarter than that.
Y’all republicans are so stupid you think other people are dumb because they aren’t a train wreck like you.
