Fuel prices have fallen compared to 2022 because in that year they went up like crazy: the cost of benzine and diesel is still at historic high, well above the level before covid. House prices have been growing slowly compared to other goods because the central bank is keeping interest rates artificially low compared to the general price index Low interest rates are depreciating the Norwegian currency and thus causing increase of prices for all imported goods (especially food). However inflation in Norway has been mild compared to other countries in EU: now prices in Italy and Germany are not that far from Norway. Prices in the Netherlands and Denmark are even worse. This is based on official stats as well as personal experience (I travel extensively across Europe) and always buy the same stuff so I can more easily see the price changes.
Well, the strange thing is that earlier everything was cheap when you came to Southern Europe. Not so any more, prices there now are nearly the same as in Norway.
I know .. and this is crazy! But still in south Italy you can get things with a very good price 😉 Like €1.5 coffee for example or €5 great quality drink
Not everything, some prices in Italy went up (especially when you factor in the conversion from a very week Kroner). It's not that cheap anymore in Italy compared to Norway. My vacation in Italy was much more expensive than what it used to be. In other words the differential of price index between Norway and Italy has reduced, driven by high inflation in Italy and decrease value of Norwegian krone to Euro
@@Wolffjord it’s much much much cheaper in Italy compare to Norway. Everything is. Rent, bills, groceries, etc But! The salaries are also twice lower than in Norway

Wages have also risen 5.4% in May. Pension 8%. The advantage is that the price increase in most EU countries is actually higher than in Norway - the same applies to rent and interest on loans. The advantage for foreigners and the reason why we have had 35% more tourists this year than in 2022 is that the Norwegian krone is 16-19% cheaper than in 2022 compared to the Euro and Dollar. The primary reason is that Norway has enormous tax revenues - almost $200 billion in addition to what is budgeted for oil and gas and these oil companies pay 78% tax. Norges Bank therefore has to sell NOK 1-2 billion every single day out of the country in order for them to bring in all this money.
Thank you so much for your comment Glenn 🤗 And still the quality of life is great in Norway 🙂 at least you can clearly see what you are paying that high tax for. In London .. it’s hard to see the value after Brexit 🙂 Let’s see what next year brings!
The average rent where I live in Florida is $1600 for a one bedroom apartment!!! Food prices are through the roof. All countries have experienced significant inflation over the last few years, but America had already become extremely expensive compared to years past. I lead a simple life, and believe I would be much better off in Norway. I am a Norwegian citizen, and will move back when I can.
