- In this web-exclusive clip from the Nick Rolovich Show, the University of Hawaii football team performs the ha'a before Saturday's game against the University of Arizona Wildcats.
I've never seen polynesians so disconnected from one another outside this comment section. No one group is better nor worse than another. We were all family once, time hasn't changed that.
Give this man some likes, he's goshdiddlydarn right.
honest, all islanders are connected. polynesian, micronesian or melanesian. we’re all family. we share very similar cultures.
We are austronesians! We are all of our ancestors whom came here from the same origins
Tell the Māori and Togans that
Tell our cousins in Tonga and Samoa that brah…everybody else cruisin 😂😂
this is awesome and cool 5 is a real warrior
Love this ha’a.
Amazing my poly brothers love and respect from Aotearoa.. Mauri ora ❤
It so beautiful too see culture of the haka in this day and age I love this
Donald Harris it's not a haka. It's a Ha'a.
What he said. Ha'a is the Hawaiian-culture-specific one, good to see it didn't get completely stamped out by idiot missionaries derping around with power.
The end of the haa is what made this video 🔥🔥🔥 when #7 said "let's go"
Mahalo, love the Hawaiian Culture show in Arizona. All that was missing was the Mai Tai and dinner. Almost forgot I was there to see a football game...lol
Underrated Haka ever. Respect the Haka
Not a haka
Ha’a my bro, you’re right tho heaps underrated
@@cheeseballjamual it is a haka
@@davidtolman1266its a ha'a, hawaiian not maori
@@davidtolman1266its a ha'a, hawaiian not maori
Hawaii Football is great...and only going to get better
I Want to see a Ha's vs Haka (New Zealand) for comparison. :)
It'd be cool if all of Polynesia had their own Olympic like tournament. All the war chants wouldn't get old, they're too cool.
No#8 on his own program. Com’on cuzn!!
Who needs cheerleaders when you have thus team!
Gotta love the like to dislike ratio :)
I really wanna know what they're saying
Fighting stance
Boast, begin!
Here we are, fearless Hawai‘i warriors
Drenched in the red Tuahine rain
Upright cliff of Pu'u Ohi'a
Thrust the appendage
In the time of change, hot was the earth
In the time of change, turned inside-out, the heavens
An eruption occurred, gushed forth the
molten lava of battle
Stand as Ku, spirit of manhood. Stand, stand!
Oh Ku, spirit of the vastly powerful. Oh Ku, oh Ku!
Oh Ku, spirit of victory. Oh Ku, oh Ku!
Oh Ku, spirit of ferocity in battle. Oh Ku, oh Ku!
Stand to the courage of all Hawai‘i.
Hawaii was doing the Haka dance against the Arizona Wildcats
Jahlani tavai
Yea im good after watching this...im not playing football T_T they 2 intimidating
What type of mating call is this?
All I understood was Let's go
Not for you Haole!😢
fyi hawaii is haa and new zealand is haka ,two different war chants and utah been doing it before hawaii dummy
Rinta Nau - Schools in Hawaii have been doing it since the late 80's
Hawaii been doing it since the 1300's you fucking dumbass
YvngPicasso. Incorrect.
They've been doing the Ha'a since King Kamehameha conquered the Islands.
@@keithfreitas2983 ha'a is made up, copy the haka
It is called a haka
No, this is Hawaii, not New Zealand. This is called the Ha'a. The Maori did not invent this. The Haka simply became the most popular/known form because white New Zealanders are constantly performing and appropriating the Haka at sporting events.
This is less intimidating than the NZ haka
Comrade Shaandan hits more when you understanding what they are saying and why they are saying it
it's not about who is the most intimidating, westerners will never understand polynesian culture.
Purpose is to call on their ancestors for strength for the battle they are about to partake in. Not to intimidate.
They are not even half as good as the All Blacks, they don’t have any of the intensity, or passion, that New Zealand uses when they do it.
Its not a comparision battle you idiot its about culture something you westerners and foreigners will NEVER understand!!! FACTS
They need to be more committed and put their hearts completely into it that's what makes war dances so impactful
that shii is wack should of stuck to the HAKA.
Why? That's a foreign culture from New Zealand. They are doing what is native to their OWN culture.
Maoris are better at it.
This isn't Haka. So how are Maori better at someone else's war chant?
@@woohooo7634 well, in that case, the Maori haka is better.
@@woohooo7634 hawaiians dont do this they just copied from maori haka
imjr8o8 FYI Maori was the last of Polynesian migration, so everything they took came from different parts of Polynesia, including hawaii... so how is that coping someone else’s culture, when all of Polynesia was doing this way before the Maori ppl even existed.
Someone jelly
HAKA is way better than this wonder why they switched it up
Everyone's been commenting how different polynesian cultures should keep to there own war chant and not copy new Zealands maori haka so only right hawaii football do a hawaiian war chant in hawaiian
@@jarvesroot6454 but hawaii never had a haka lol
Jr808Hi true. Because it was the Ha’a.
@@imjr8o8 ha'a*
@@musicaldooder20 it's made up
What's with all the padding on the players?????
It’s American football
Does not help Hawaii win. Hawaii is notorious for its slow starts, even against crappy teams, because they are more concerned with their Ha'a perforation than their football performance. They were even loosing 14-0 in the first quarter against San Jose State. I'm going to troll and post this comment on any you-tube video with this stupid shit. Looks cool but its a distraction a crappy team like Hawaii doesn't need.
Lee Boy dude ik you’re trolling, so I’m just gonna hope you understand why they do it
Truth be told I'd rather watch this than a boring football game, I say they've got their priorities straight.
They really did good the 2019 season wining against BYU in the bowl
What a bunch of weirdos.
How to be ignorant without saying that you're ignorant
@@mannyn2587your culture and dance is retarted. Your team sucks balls
Haka carries the wrong impression of hostility towards other teams which
Is antithetical to good sportsmanship and so called aloha. Cut it out and play ball. No need for local hype.
This is the Ha'a not the "haka".... the ha'a is a dance native to Hawaii. And the dance is not to. "Intimidate"... it's to draw strength from one's ancestors for protection. Just because you don't understand something doesn't mean it's unsportsmanlike. Just means you're ignorant.
This would of been awsome, if it didnt happen. WTF is all I can say, what are they cheerleaders!!!!
Ru Valenz it’s part of their culture you fuck
I played at Hawaii in the 80's when we won football games. Can't believe the head Coach permits players to do this w/o having an undefeated record. Hard to believe. Embarrassing to what we were. We are not culture ambassadors in a show. We are Warriors. Rainbow is optional. Especially after the lgbtxyz crew stole it and made it theirs.
Uh,,,,, the Rainbow warriors were named the rainbow warriors way after gay people existed.....
Man shut the hell up
The Hawaiians never poked there toungs out or did the pukana that's strictly Maori stop copying our culture it's bad enough you do our hakas in other videos
MANGUKAHA AOTEAROA oh hush if you can't spell tongue right. All of these sensitive Kiwis always gotta say it's strictly for Maori. Bitch, All Blacks team is made up of most islanders over the years. Fiji, tonga, and Samoa. Without them there is no NZ team. Then you can shove that sacred haka to your tourists.
Lavi Taufoa you obviously have no idea what sacred means, and without NZ there is no TEAM!! so get that right Sole! This is Maori whenua don’t you EVER forget that, or you can fuck off back to your shitty Little Rock too
Respect
Wtf are you talking about, How do you know that? Lol Hawaiians been had this culture all poly's sticked there tongues out, like all poly's say cheehoo, stfu
Wtf are you talking about you obviously have never been to hawaii
Guys above me obviously it was stolen from the haka hawaiians never had this🤦♂️
