We were already crazy about hearing her sing this #1 song at the time and seeing her dressed was awesome. She was singing with a smile on her face that I remember to this day now 43 years ago. This is one a very talented and beautiful woman; glamorous; classy and elegant is what Mrs. Diana Ross is; there was also something very special about Diana to attain Michael's heart like she did. I think they would have made a stunning couple with good looking and talented babies indeed.

She was in the dressing room changing gowns and before she came back out the orchestra had started to play the first chords of this song letting us know what she was going to sing and sparked the excitement of the crowd. When she did come out she was wearing a fire engine red gown and a huge afro. She gave a flawless performance and received a standing ovation.
WHO SINGS WHILE LIFTED IN THE AIR LYING DOWN? This was a concert of historic magnitude! Also...i should add that "Ain't No Mountain..." is one of the best produced records of all time. The way it builds to epic levels....from simple talking to an almost religious experience! Only the great DIANA ROSS!!!!

Diana doesn't have the same power in her voice that Aretha Franklin or Nina Simone have. I love them for their depth and harshness, but Diana has a softness, sweetness and compassion in her voice that i find equally as powerful in its own way and which i love her for.
