I worked for years in the vacuum metallizing field. We worked with all the powered metals they work with but used them in different applications. We would NEVER move then without respirators or touch them with bare hands! Whenever we had to open the machine up for adding metals or cleaning, we had to wear Powered Air-Purifying Respirators (PAPRs) that have a battery-powered blower that pulls air through attached filters, canisters, or cartridges. They provided protection against gases, vapors, or particles when equipped with the appropriate cartridge, canister, or filter. We also used Supplied-Air Respirators connected to a separate source that supplies clean, compressed air through a hose. We were well aware of the dangers of powered metals and the detriments to our health. We had to bring a change of uniforms and keep them in our lockers when we had to clean out the machine. Then our uniforms had to be tied up in a double walled OSHA bag and left in a sealed bin for cleaning by the company. These poor people. That is meant as a double entendre'. Happily working for a couple of dollars a day for basic necessities. So sad. I felt guilty for watching.
These are our local people following their centuries old tradition. Bursting crackers is not only our tradition but ritual. It teaches us to be brave and play with fire but with caution. 2,3 days of bursting crackers doesn't make a difference on environment. Besides bursting crackers in marriages, political celebrations and on 31st Dec won't make any pollution? It is ridiculous to think only on Diwali it makes pollution. Besides around 300000 people are employed in India in making firecrackers that too only in Sivakasi. We have so much unemployment already, why do you want to increase it more? Unless you have a better job opportunities for all this workforce, don't talk about banning firecrackers. Celebrate to your heart's content, be safe tho and enjoy!!
Please share this video with Government agencies. They should atleast get basic protective gear while making the firecrackers. I salute their hardwork🙏🙏
