Real Talk: Nothing in this video matters if you can’t get cool drum tones to start with. This trick will not save bad drum parts, bad playing, and bad tuning on your drum set. You need to put in the work to start.
Amazing. I would never have thought of doing it that way, and I have SD3. I saw the title and imagined you would create a fake drum room using offset short delays and reverb. Never saw this one coming. And it sounds great. I gotta give it a go on my new song. This is a fairly new channel to me, the fist vid only popped up a couple of weeks. But you know how it is; you watch one, and another pops up, and another, and so far, all those I've watched, have had something useful or thought provoking. And trust me, I have some good channel subscriptions. I think this should be a new sub. Fully concur with the comments below, you deserve more subs. Excellent work
I was trying to do something similar with altiverb but it sounds just ok to my ears so I'm trying the SD3 next. Content like this is really helpful, thank you!
Really good tip. Just a question though - I play an electronic kit that only has a straight Stereo out for audio. Is there any way of using this technique in that scenario? Or will I have to re-learn how to record MIDI... :(
Great advice. Wish I had a Magic way to give you a lot more subscribers. I feel like your a channel/person who could really bloom with the inspiration of many more subs.
Hey man. Love the videos! Do you tune your drums yourself? Could you maybe make a video on tuning drums? I'm not a drummer myself and could really use the knowledge for all the inexperienced drummers that I record with. It's ridiculous how many drummers I've worked with that didn't know how to do this properly.
I do. I'm not sure I'm a total pro. I can give my two cents... but there are WAY better drum tuners out there.... that quite a few people asking that same question.... so maybe I'll come up with something
@@RecordingStudioLoser Hope you do! You have a way of explaining things (for me at least) that I have not encountered here on youtube. I can't believe I just found your channel a week ago and yet I have learned so much! Keep up the good work and all the best from Slovenia!
only issue is that the room/ambient sound is from the samples in SD3, so if its recorded with a modern maple kit with clear heads, it wont sound like the room sound for your vintage luddy... unless you have the plugins for SD3 that have those drums.. or close to.. but hey.. that just my inner drum nerd talking.. it is still a COOL! trick!.. super video
Definitely. The video was about an idea of a process not a specific process. Insert whatever works for you. For my track at the time I needed a different space. If you want a real room go for it!
IRs are never going to sound good. No reverb can replicate the real room sound. Maybe the neural network approach could help with it in the future but reverb algos just can’t do that

Superior drummers tracker can do a good job of saving bad drum recordings, even performance if you are willing to manually adjust the midi
This is fantastic. I'm adding this to my top three favorite channels, you're right up there with Kush After Hours
That man bleeds swag. I can only hope to attain his sheer amount of vibe someday.
That's brilliant.

Let me know if you give it a try. Love the know how it goes. Bonus points for tuning the SD3 shells to match the pitch of your drums! Ahah. Cheers!
Cool idea.. Will give it a try.. You can get so much love with the room..
Dude this is so sick. I'm in love with all these rad drum mixing ideas I've never seen before.
Would love to see a start to finish on drum mixing
It’s like watching hot dogs get made! You don’t wanna see that. jk
Ok maybe. If I can find something to mix that I won’t get a copyright strike for.

Awesome tips man. But one thing in this video is exceptional! Bass ! What is that? What preamp/amp or... please tell me 😃
That’s actually EZ Bass. I did a video where I was playing around with some of the sounds. This is one of the tracks from that video. Yeah. It’s dope!
so clever ! this youtube channel need more viewer !
Wow, thank you!

There are definitely limitations. But when you are backed into a corner. It's not a bad trick to have in your back pocket!
whats the little thing lighting up behind you to the track?
Those are my converters. It’s a Burl Mothership.
So, how about using a convolution reverb with ir snapshots of actual rooms...?

@@kimseniorb isn't it IRs that are generating the rooms sound in superior drummer? If not, how does it work in there?
Gonna do a thing here, with some keys, to try took put you in touch with someone I think you would vibe with. Be back soon....
Drum replacement, how dare you! Sometimes you have to. But, this isn't drum replacement, this is drum enhancement because, sometimes you have to!
The same technique like i did, a week a go
