I am so sorry to say this, but it was Jabo Stark who played "Talkin' Loud and Sayin' Nothing." It is all documented, and I could recognize Jabo's sound from Clyde. However, Clyde did play "Say It Loud! I'm Black and I'm Proud."

Doubt it, as all 3 of us had a lengthy conversation about it. There is a lot of incorrect "documentation" around. Further, I disagree about the sound - it sounds like Clyde playing the classic Jabo boogaloo groove, but it has Clyde's slightly lighter and brighter sound.

Too bad, you didn't break down that BAD ASS bridge when they go into the chord change! When he comes out of it, he goes to 8th notes(?) on the bass drum for about 4 measures, then BACK to 4-on-the-floor for the rest of the song! My ABSOLUTE FAVORITE James Brown song! R.I.P. Mr. Stubblefield, indeed! I'm hoping to post a video in the next xoming months of that song. Jut gotta figure out HOW with my new GoPro camera that I have NO idea how to operate, being the technologically ignorant person that I am. At 49, I'm late to the party with that stuff.

Yes, I have. But, it's SO sacred to me, I've never tried it, in part, because of the problem of hitting/playing too hard. However, after watching your video, I'm gonna TRY and use my age/maturity to settle down, and not get TOO excited. Serendipity, is how I feel about coming across your video! THANK YOU!

Thomas Wiilde yeah the swing in so many of the early funk grooves comes from playing pretty softly. so the grace notes don't get buried by the backbeat....
