Did you know that Germany was split in two after WW2? Well, this is East Germany's anthem. The country was also called GDR in English and DDR (Deutsche Demokratische Republik) or Ostdeutschland in German. It was a communist country that lasted untill 1990. The anthem is called "Auferstanden aus Ruinen", which means "Resurrected from ruins". This is the second anthem that I post, one of my favourite anthems!
I'm by no means a communist, but the music is beautiful.

That is really beatifully played! It confirms me in my opinion that the GDR anthem is one of the most beautiful anthems. Greetings from (former West) Germany - very near the former East German border.
