Another brilliant video steve and this one was perfect for me. As i might have told you im hoping to retire to Spain in April/may. I love torrevieja. My lifelong friend who moved to la zenia last year thinks it's outdated and him and his wife think i should move closer to where the are. Im thinking bollocks, rents are cheaper in torrevieja and it's only a 25 minute bus ride to la zenia.(I've never owned or driven a car in my life). The strip down by la zenia is just too busy for me and that was in late September. I was a barman in dublin and new York for over 40 years so im done with all the busy bars give me a place with a couple of people in it and im happy. In September i went to a restaurant across the rd from where i was staying to watch a Barcelona game i had 4 vodkas ( big enough you could wash your feet in and 2 cans of coke 20 euro. It would cost you that for one in Manhattan. My monthly payments pension and social security would be around 2680 euros a month i think i could live on that. Praying for your Dad and hoping you're hanging in there. Gid bless Steve.
Thanks Gary, I really enjoy making this type of video! I don't know why because they require a lot homework and I wasn't known for having any interest in doing homework when at school 😂🤣. Your in a great position with such a great monthly budget! I lived on less than half that in Guardamar!! In saying that. Have you seen my "how much it costs me to live in Spanish n" video? If not, it would give you an even better idea! I'm sure you can't wait 😎. Dad I'd doing reasonably well, he's fairly happy and physically fine, thanks for asking! 👍😊
Excellent video Steve. You answered a lot of questions there with some well researched info. If buying, would your favourite place be the area where you rented?
Hi Dermot, thanks for your comment. As far as "where would I buy a property?" I've recently decided that that is exactly what I am going to do! And I have been looking at the general Murcia area both coastal and inland. In the near future I'll start making videos on the whole process as it happens so hopefully you'll watch along 😊
Thanks for replying Steve, I’ve watched all your videos and enjoyed them all. I thought they were very honest and down to earth. I was in Torrevieja just once for a family holiday we had a lovely time. I’ve always had a dream of having a 2 bed apartment in Spain, but I don’t want to make a mistake. Some people recommend renting rather than buying. Spain is such a beautiful country, it can be confusing to know exactly where to buy. That’s why I found your videos so helpful. There seems to be good value for money in the Murcia area. You mentioned in one of your videos where there were properties available for €50K approx. and one for under €50K. I look forward to your upcoming videos and wish you the best of luck with your ventures. I’m generally in Spain every year as I love walking stages of the different Camino routes. Glad to hear also that your Dad is doing okay, it’s one of these journeys we all face with our parents. @@TheRamblingIrishman
Thank you, the cost of living comparison site is an eye opener to say the least. The UK is such a rip off place to live - I say this based purely on data and not emotion. As I'm retired a non lucrative visa looks very, very tempting indeed.
I am in Canada Vancouver I am retired now I will never stay here and pay tax pn tax I am actually selling all my furniture and of course the house Moving in September to poland and then spain to stay for good
Again a good videos and good information on living costs 👌, but I disagree with some of your Costs, but mine are been compared with Republic of Ireland 🇮🇪 . Rent in my Complex Altos de Limonar area , my neighbours are Spanish and helpful and speak great English are paying 325 for 2 bed Apartment. Groceries are as you said Fish away more expensive than Ireland. Beef/ Steak again more expensive. Bread and Milk and Washing up and Washing Powder about the same as Ireland Petrol and Diesel as you said away cheaper than Ireland. Water I should NOT compare as we got no charges yet in Ireland. Council tax/Property Tax cheaper. Car insurance cheaper, Eating out no comparison miles cheaper than Ireland. Clothes about the same. Internet for the home cheaper. So most of what said is correct according to my lifestyle which is modest. Weather we will not discuss 😢. So in 2 weeks I am in Altos, How is your Dad these days. Keep the videos coming 😊
It is of those subjects where there are so many variations but Spain Def cheaper by a fair amount overall. I'm sure your really looking forward to getting away! Dad is ok, physically he is doing well. Diagnosed with dementia but is happy enough!
Hi Gary, I'm doing well! Time to get on with life again so planning for the future. I've still a few things to sort out regarding dad but I'll be back in Spain soon enough. I have a trip coming up soon to do hopefully the channel will be getting busy again ☺️. I hope you're well and thanks for asking!
Aloha, I enjoyed your straight to the point video... I guess I can be called the not so "ramblin 68 year old NYCubaRican" who wants to live in Spain now that I'm retired. My plans in my mind are currently set for the end of February when my $2,500 current lease expires next March2025 here in Honolulu, Hawaii. I've heard all kinds of things about when to start the retirement visa process but its's only 10 months from now. I currently earn from SSA and my two pensions about $3861 before taxes. I want to take a job here until I leave for Spain will that prevent me from going on that type of Visa? Also is that amount enough for a single simple lifestyle who simply want to travel in Europe whenever possible.
Hi, thanks for your message. On your first point about your vis, I don't really know. With regards to your monthly budget, I believe it is more than enough to give you a good standard of living in Europe, much more than my own budget. I hope this is of some help to you.
@@TheRamblingIrishman Mahalo for your quick response I appreciate that. I really would like a nice place near the Rails so that I can do some traveling less spending on rent but in a safe area for walking, cyclin, swimming ....etc
Excellent, comprehensive guide.
Thank you 😊👍
