Saw Terri up close when she did her walk through the audience at a concert back in '84 at the Greek Theatre. She was stunningly beautiful and that voice. One of my early teenage crushes. her hair was killer too. loved it.
No it's not :-) I rewatched it last year with my husband (we saw it only once back in the day), and we were shocked by how awful it was. There's hardly a story, the chemistry between the lead characters is terrible, their romance is quite unbelievable. The only thing that's great about the movie, is the flying scenes. Those were really good. So if you're really into fighter jet porn, it's a good movie. If you want to watch it, because it is considered a classic, you should. But if you want a good story, you can skip Top Gun. Or at least be prepared to be underwhelmed, because we really were. In our memories it was a great movie, but in real life it was shockingly bad.
I just watched it for the first time a month or so ago and could not get into it and I agree with all you said - I didn’t see chemistry at all and the story was lacking. I just decided to watch because I love the 80s but this film didn’t deliver
For the uninitiated, this song is the daughter of the genius of Giorgio Moroder (the man behind Donna Summer). It won the Academy Award for best original song (and also the Golden Globe) in 1987. The director of the film decided to shoot the love scene between Cruise and McGillis only after hearing this song. In fact, it was shot when the shooting of the film had already finished. The scene is backlit because in the meantime McGillis had dyed her hair. About Moroder I recommend "From here to eternity". Or "Chase" from the soundtrack of Midnight Express". (Other Academy Award winner)
@@richardbullen8051 There was no reason to turn down this opportunity. If someone who has already won two Oscars, one who has led Donna Summer to success and collaborated with several already famous groups chooses you to play one of his songs (which wins another Oscar) it is not nice to go around saying that you only hate it because it's not yours. He also collaborated with Blondie (Call me), also here in a different musical genre from theirs. There was no problem.
