    Map Enhancement + DynaminLOD used together, a real game changer for me. Good FPS and amazing graphic/landscapes

    Firstly, good job using the *in-game* FPS tool so you see CPU & GPU where most streamers underestimate the importance of that. However, the MSFS load on the CPU is significantly more bursty than the GPU so stutters are far more likely when you're "limited by CPU" than otherwise. The simple fix when you're CPU limited is to (counter-intuitively) *increase* your GPU-related graphics settings (i.e. almost any of them) to get the GPU to cap the frame rate rather than the CPU. This gives the CPU a little headroom to handle the bursts. Of course you can also reduce your CPU usage for AI traffic, photogrammetry, LOD's but the smoother experience of GPU-limited framerate is subjectively better than a fractionally higher FPS hitting the CPU.

    The map options are, in my understanding, just different satellite images. So either shouldn't change FPS much, unless one has a higher resolution of images.
    OVERKILL, your LODs are way to high for your CPU, your stutters are solely caused by that.
    IDEALY, you want the frametimes for both to be as close as possible for stutter free flying.

    There is an inaccuracy in your comment about using the Bing server in the Map Enhancement mod. It is NOT the same as the default Bing imagery used by the sim. It connects to newer data. An increasing problem of ground imagery and LOD tiles popping in close proximity is causing massive issues across many parts of the world. First made an appearance from day 1 on the Isle of Man in the UK. Now large parts of Europe and US have it when flying low. Problem is entirely down to Bing. Using the Google server stops this issue occuring. Huge discussion on Asobo forums though any mention of this mod gets the post deleted. Oh there is also an option within the mod to use higher lod tiles. You can also adjust contrast, saturation, brightmess etc of the imagery and not affect anything else. Great features

    Thanks for the review. I'll give it a go. Question: Did you clear out your shader cache as well when say switching from MSFS Bing maps to Google Maps?

  • @tibortefsen77

    Your frame rate stays in the red. This is not correct.. you need to find the balance between the CPU and GPU settings to get that in the green. It will get much smoother. From there you can test. In red means you bottleneck one of the two.. in your case limited by main thread. You're grafics are set to high. This is the reason of your stutters.
    I've used this addon and has issues. Addon scenery doesn't line up. For example addon runways are off.
    Anyway, we will have to wait for MSFS2024. As this version is not written to use the full potential of the CPU's. When that happens it will be a huge difference. You can have a top notch CPU and GPU it will always be limited by the code of MSFS.

    The bing maps in app are newer ones... Google's issue is that in some areas you can see the squares..... Bing works great....

    My understanding is that the map replacement mod only uses the texture data from the map source but uses the Bing data for mesh and in-built AI to render objects. Google maps is preferred where they are more up-to-date and of a higher resolution, mainly away from cities that are as well-covered by Bing. Frame rate should not be impacted at all unless connection to Google server is different to Bing server. Google texture data appears to render a more natural colour compared to the green tinge still evident with Bing data. Also agree with previous comment above that Google does not attempt to colour-match adjacent tiles whereas Bing does this better I think from my experience.

    Just out of curiosity, you are showing us a map enhancement of Google maps on MSFS, but not once you switch over to spot plane view so that we can get the full picture. Why?
    Cockpit view is needed I get it, but not once you showed spot plane view to showcase the VFR scenery. Bruh!!!
    I still love your channel.

    So I tried this hoping it would update the outdated scenery in my area, and this was unfortunately not the case. The scenery looks exactly the same no matter which map server I pick. What's crazy is the preview map changes when you're selecting an airport to fly from. But not the scenery. Makes no sense??
    Edit: having photogrammetry turned on was the issue

    Till the time they maintain the realism of the pc12 it makes sense. In the name of resolving issues they should not dumb down the aerodynamics just because somebody thinks it’s unrealistic because it’s hard to fly.

    • @FSXXtreme
      @FSXXtreme 5 месяцев назад +1

      I don’t think so but if the customers say, it’s too challenging to handle they might consider doing that which will be a shame. I believe they should have the freedom to keep it as realistic as possible

  • @mdhazeldine

    As much as I like the idea of using Google maps, all of the 3rd party sceneries are designed to work around the default Bing maps, so I worry that there's going to be lots of matching issues. Sounds like more hassle than it's worth. Also...for the love of God, please straighten out your camera view. How the heck to do you take off in a straight line when your camera view is tilted 5 degrees to the left? LOL.

  • @HaraldLabout

    You should use the Rivatuner FPS counter and switch on Nvidia frame generation and use TAA mode for anit aliasing and you should see double FPS numbers and things will be really smooth. That's the way I fly with my RTX4070 and Ryzen 7 5800x3d combo. The internal FPS does not see the step up FPS from frame generation.

    • @tedwaetford
      @tedwaetford 5 месяцев назад

      What do you mean by frame generation with TAA? Frame gen usually refers to DLSS, which is an alternative to TAA. Do you mean like Smart Smoothing?

    • @HaraldLabout
      @HaraldLabout 5 месяцев назад

      @@tedwaetford Just set Nvidia DLSS Frame Generation to on in the Sim and use Anti-Aliasing TAA. Don't use the Nvidia DLSS Super Resolution because that makes al the Cockpit screens blurry. Only works with DX12. Love the extra generated frames / FPS.

      Rivatuner used to cap my frame rates to 60 frames made my SIM butter smooth. Instead of using the Nvidia frame rate capper which had micro stutters

      This is a common misunderstanding that dlss is required for frame generation. It's the same with the frame gen mod available for non 4xxx series rtx cards. Works fine with TAA@@tedwaetford

    In the past I have worked with ortho imagery in XP11, both Bing and Goggle, to create several area of the world . The difference is simple. Biang are mostly "summer like" imagery, Goggle mostly "winter like" imagery. For what's about quality it greatly depend from location to location. Saying one is better then the other is wrong. In some area is better Bing, in others Goggle. As a general rule Goggle is better in populate area, Bing most time better in less populate ones but of course, there are exceptions. I would say "tell me where you fly, and I will tell you wich one is better". A comparison over LA is wrong, in my opinion, too many buildings to verify if one is better then the other, but, I repeat, satellite imagery is not the same quality everywhere. There are area where Goggle is better, in others is terrible and Bing much better so wich one I choose? I fly mostly in Switzerland and in summer Bing, with his bright brilliant colours is better. In winter if you have the Habashi "4seasons" or Rex Accuseasons you can trasform the bright green in something looking like winter, while with Goggle.... you don' need it, but is winter even in sommer! I don't find this enhancement a must have, but it is only my opinion....

      Step 1. Use the in-game FPS tools to see if it's the CPU or GPU. If it's the CPU, you *will* have stutters.

      No. You do noting in msfs.
      Make sure you click on stop in the enhancement mod when you have closed mshs. Otherwise the next time you start msfs without the mod, you will have problems with the original bing maps.

    Certainly something in the last City update has impacted FPS in default MSFS2020 with bing maps. I lost about 50% CPU on the same rig, but a lot of micro stutters and long pauses.
