He's an architect whose medium is the human body, I don't think he is trying to outwardly shock he is merely exploring shapes and forms that are beautiful regardless of whether the clothes are conventional or not
Can he actually say he finds traditional menswear restrictive? A few collections ago he 'reinvented' menswear dress codes through turning up collars, brightening colours, using gentler fabrics but it was still inherently grounded in classic menswear!!!,
He ripped off an exact copy of a stripped J Crew sweater and that's just the one time he has been caught, there's also other times where his designs seem inspired by other designers.
This guy should be in performance art not fashion. He talks about fashion shows being a "dialogue" and "storytelling," and "building a character" for the show. Fine but that doesn't appear to have helped him design a wearable collection for fall/winter 2013/2014.
Watching it again and it's hilarious how he speaks like he's this grand couturier but his clothes are so mediocre. Even the collection he's talking about was putting guys in frilly women's clothes with no point but to shock. There's a way to do a menswear show with skirts/dresses and feminine proportions in a very chic way, the way Hedi Slimane, Riccardo Tisci and Raf Simons have done, he did it just for shock in a way that wasn't chic and didn't make sense.
