I found a bottle of tart cherry juice concentrate at local store. Only ingredient is Cherries. An ounce of that added to carbonated water makes a great soda.
I just started using the soda stream with brewed tea (with a couple of disasters) and it's fantastic! Try slowly reducing the stevia, once you lose the taste for sweetness you really appreciate the different teas more!
How much water are you using and how many bags? Thinking I might try this and get off the energy drink mix. Between my son and I, we go through a lot of that syrup. I love the flavor and I wish it was caffeine free.
Thank you for this healthier idea. Ginger ale used to sell a green tea ginger ale that was amazing, but they stopped selling it in the states. Can’t wait to try this out.
Just made some today, I don't have a Sodastream, but I have club soda in the house. I made a big batch of that concentrated tea in a mason jar and chilled it and did the exact same steps with that club soda. It's fantastic, it's certainly an acquired taste but it's easy to sip on and enjoy. Thanks!
Love the idea of making my own natural carbonated drink. I use Stevia too and I love Green Tea. Since making Kombucha I've gotten off the soda train. Going to buy one of those machines. Thanks for the recipe, it sounds delicious. ❤
Second look. I caught this, originally when I was viewing some of your older stuff. A year later, I have my own SodaStream and remembered your Green Tea Soda Video, goggled it and Now, can give it ago. Thanks again for (still) being one of my favorite sources of wisdom.
I do almost the same. I use a powdered green tea and make a concentrate (about 1/2 water, 1/2 powder) and store it in the fridge in a small squeeze bottle. I don't add it to the bottle--I add to a glass of carbonated water. I keep the carbonated water in the fridge, pour it in a glass, then squeeze in the tea concentrate. I also use a black tea concentrate. I don't add a sweetener but that's just my taste. I saw carbonated tea in bottles in Europe. It seems popular. It's perfect when you want something carbonated with a sandwich but not something too sweet and don't want a beer at that meal.
You are ABSOLUTELY correct. And many people may not agree, but mainly the attraction to soda is the carbonation (Even those who regularly drink a soda don't like flat soda). And by the way, I believe Houlahan's still exists. I just saw a place in San Francisco. I also have to comment on the Green Tea Soda. I believe that if you try it once, there is no 'learning to like it'. It's Great!! Keep on doing what you do. I enjoy your videos.
G'day George! I know this vid has been around for a while, but I wanted to let you know I stumbled across it in my quest for atypical soda solutions. I just assembled a self-carbonation setup (5lb CO2 Tank, regulator, fittings for 2L connection) since Sodastream units are no longer available where I live, and I wanted to let you know I love this recipe. If you ever have a chance, my personal favorite is Diet Ginger-Orange soda, but this is a close second. I hope you are still well! Thanks again!
I started doing this a month ago, without any Kind of sweatener at all, gut with aromatized Green Tea. This is the best alternative to any Other Softdrinks. Drink this all day, thanks for this advice👍😁
@@ChunkyMonkaayyy - It's more like $320-$350 startup cost in mid-2020. Unless you have access to a bunch of cheap or free used parts, that's what the material cost is. I just built a basic carbonation rig a week ago and kept track of every dime I spent. I didn't count the value of my time and labor, which would have added hundreds of dollars to the project.
@@ChunkyMonkaayyy - I wasn't aware of any kits, but it is possible that kit vendors can achieve economies of scale by buying components by the hundreds or thousands, while I was buying all the parts in ones and twos and not getting any volume price breaks.
Got off Mt Dew when I got my soda stream. I've been using the syrups you buy in the store, even though I know the aspartame is bad for me. I actually just bought produce to make my own favorite flavor mix of pomegranate and cucumber lime. But your enjoyment of this has convinced me to try green tea too. I use green tea when I make iced tea, can't see why I wouldn't enjoy it bubbly. I already use stevia in my coffee so have it on hand.
Just made a batch of this and it is quite nice! I wasn't sure how much water to use so I poured 1L of water of 10 tea bags. After a night in the fridge it looks like it further reduced. I'm sweetening with liquid sucralose. One addition that makes it even nicer: a packet of True Lemon. I added this to my water and then carbonated (I use a Drinkmate machine), then added the tea and sweetener.
I'm also a newbie to Sodastream and love it. As a diabetic I like to know what is in any drink I consume and I love carbonated water. George, just one question....You didn't say what you had infused the tea bags in. Was it carbonated water or just plain water? I'd like to try the Green Tea Soda, it looks great.
Me too. Just got one in perfect condition at a yard sale for $10. I went to the store and bought the gas canister and came on RUclips for instructions. Btw, the new soda streams at the store were $129, so I am excited I got such a good deal and now excited to try some green tea like this. I have a friend that adds a few drops of essential oils to her glass of soda water. She makes some great combinations. I had some at her house that was so refreshing and very good tasting.
That's looks so good Thank you sir, i drink matcha green tea it's good but I don't think it's a good idea to mix it with carbonated water because it's a powder. 👍☺
Hi George I have a question about the tea bags in the pot. Do you use hot water initially to brew the tea then wait for it to cool before adding to the soda water. Just interested in this project and I want to do it correctly. Thanks for any advice offered. Greg
Tried some sodastream brand syrups (cola, cherry cola and dr pete/pepper). All had a funky industrial chemical taste. Many other flavors aren't that great either.
Great video George! I brew and then ferment my tea at home. The process is sorta similar to making apple cider vinegar. If I use black tea, I make what's known as "Kombucha". If I ferment green tea, I make what's known as Jun. Fermentation is such a beauty of nature. Watching this video today got me inspired to brew some more tea; So, I thank you :)
Hi there Gray...I made Your green tea soda. It is really good but when I added my artificial sweetener, ( I don't have stevia yet) it foamed all up and spilled out of the sodastream bottle. It was sugar twin. What should I have done differently? I see that Yours didn't foam up "that much"... I know I will enjoy it when I get it right.
My roommates and I got a sodastream about a week ago now so I stumbled upon your video here. I'm the "old man" of the house, getting the guys to drink tea instead of their G-fuel and Monster energy drinks. I'm all about the bubbles, who needs that much sugar? I’m addicted to diet wild cherry Pepsi. I drink at least 5 cans per day. Some days 6 to 7 cans. I wonder if there’s some kinda cherry/green tea with sweetener that I could use with a soda stream to replace the Pepsi’s. 🤔
bubble water became my beer after I went keto. So now we just call it my beer. I love it plain. but I was spending mad money on them bottles. but now I have a Soda stream as well.
Too funny! That's what my husband calls my LaCroix, because I don't drink. I'm now looking at buying one of these instead of purchasing seltzer water at the store! Some really great videos out there, so glad I don't have to go into buying one of these machines blind. Now I just have to decide which one! So many on the market! I need one that will carbonate juice and coffee though too:) Great comment! Takecare!
You don't need to keep pumping it till it makes that noise. I keep it held down until it makes that sound and it goes even quicker. Why waste time doing multiple pumps when you can only do one or two?
I found a soda stream machine at the end of February this year and literally saw one for the first time and should've took it but I was like nah, I see the opportunity I'm taking it and boom I just need the hydraulic part, unfortunately I didn't want my bag or me to explode because I just couldn't think of I'll danger But 😂😂😂 overall I just need to buy one and I'm set 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
yes and also adding sugar or sweetners interacts with the carbonation cause a extreme fizz kinda like vinegar mix with baking soda kinda fizz so adding it last is best

You could add sweetener to the tea while its still warm to dissolve. Then just gently tilt soda bottle to mix.
I'm getting one tomorrow this will help with my newly diagnosed diabetes

How does the carbonation compare to a bottle of coke? Would the pressure used by Sodastream to be much lower?

Why not add the stevia to the tea concentrate instead of the carbonated water?

What would happen if you filled a bottle with pre made tea. Like a red diamond brand type tea. And then sodastreamed that?🤔
Great video and great beard.
If your squeezing 10 tea bags to get the "Juice" why dont you just use Matcha instead?
I’ve heard some doctors say it’s actually better and improves digestion.
ya, when ever i really want soda im think about the carbonation
Him taking 10 teabags is pretty impressive.
He really likes squeezing the juice out of teabags.
You steep them cold or after boil?
Boil
Will it work if you put the tea in the sodastream bottle and then fizz it up?
You aren't supposed to use anything but clear water as the process of carbonation sends liquid into the head of the machine.
Why not put the stevia in before carbonizing, then you don´t have to shake a carbonized bottle.
You don't need to keep pumping it till it makes that noise. I keep it held down until it makes that sound and it goes even quicker. Why waste time doing multiple pumps when you can only do one or two?
They say to do it in multiple shorter pumps because it allows the co2 to better be absorbed into the water.

Any reason to not add the stevia to the water first before carbonating it?
You don't want anything other than water touching the Soda Stream machine I imagine, it could encourage growth of biofilm and bacteria.
yes and also adding sugar or sweetners interacts with the carbonation cause a extreme fizz kinda like vinegar mix with baking soda kinda fizz so adding it last is best
