I see a lot of people in the comments disparaging the person that bought these pickups. For some people, buying expensive guitar gear is just a fun use of disposable income. Life is short. We're all gonna die someday. Do what makes you happy while you still can.

why are you such an idiot? no one is buying these bullshit pickups to play them. That's why they come in a fancy case with a bunch of certificates. What do you need the case for? Are you going to take the pickups out of the guitar and put them back in the case when you're not playing it? People are buying these pickups so that they can resell that at a profit (hopefully). Anyone with half a brain knows these pickups won't be anything special.

I can definitely tell a difference in tone! As for a preference? Hard to say. One recommendation I have is next time you do a comparison it’d be good to put the before and after sounds right next to each other to make the sound comparison easier

Wonder what the owners of these $1000 "limited" pickups would think if they found out that these are nothing but regular standard custom buckers only with a different magnet?

Great demo! That was a drastic change in tone. The original pickups are good for modern guitar sounds. The new 59’s are great for that old school rock n roll sound!

I wish my Custombuckers sounded as good as his. Mine are crazy overwound (for PAFs). 8.95 (neck), 8.75 (bridge), and they sound nothing like PAFs. I thought the 1959 limited editions sounded better than his Custombuckers, but you can get boutique pups that sound perfectly like PAF clones for less than half what Gibson is charging for their "1959s”. @WizzPickups charges $1000 for their pups wound with actual 1950’s NOS 42awg wound Clones, and $425 for their regular Premium Clone PAFs that are wound with reissue 50’s 42awg wire. Just FYI friends. ❤

They sound great, but not $1000 great. I don't think any pickup is worth that kind of money. I'm having Custombuckers (that I got for free) installed in my 335. They are half the price and they still cost too much.

Both sets of pickups sound great with subtle differences due probably just to having alnico III vs IV magnets gibson have burstbuckers and greeny buckers with alnico II magnets for around £300, custombuckers with alnico III magnets for around £500 and these are alnico IV magnets why did they not just release these as a standard usa set for around a similar ball park reasonable price to loyal customers and sold thousands of sets over a longer period of time instead of a limited edition set of 1000 sets at £999 which are to expensive to loyal customers

    • @jimbeam-ru1my

but hasn't gibson been telling their customers for decades that they actually had authentic recreations of paf's in their custom guitars? Once these thousand pickups are sold, are they going to say "just kidding! Here's our actual recreation of paf's, just 2k a pair!"
Also, after gibson released their "historic spec" bumblebee capacitors, why should anyone believe their claims that these pickups are anything special at all? Like the bumblebee's, they are probably just 2 dollar chinese pickups in a fancy tweed case.
Also dude, you could not have fucked that AB up any worse if you tried. You don't play the A then spend 10 minutes fucking around before you play the B, you play them back to back with no pause in between.

Not sure that's the right amp for the job. No headroom (10W) and a 1x 12" Celestion (Seventy-80 speaker) can't bring out the full sound spectrum like a 50w head with a 2x12 cab would.... But hats off to you for making the video.

I appreciate your response however, it’s a 200 sqft room and I felt the headroom was enough for the space. A 50watt head with a 2-12 would have had to be attenuated to get any sort of warmth in a room that size.

Thanks for doing this! I've been trying to find a video of someone testing them for weeks. There are plenty of pickups selling in the $400 - $800 range theses days and everyone claims they are awesome. When they sell them used, they can't get 40% of what they paid for them. People boast about their equiptment much like golfers with their $1,000 drivers, but they still only drive 180 yards. Bonamassa would sound great playing a Squier but he plays $300,000 guitars. If you believe they sound better, you will play more and be better. I bought 2 sets of these and can't wait to put them in. These are authentic Gibson and time will prove they will be in demand and hold their value. It's a unique marketing idea that has been successful. The doubters commenting on these are the same guys that own 50 pedals they paid $300-$500 each and don't know what pure tone sounds like.

The 59s sounded a lot better sonicly and harmonicly.
