    The new flash is crazy fast. I bought one to brew coffee while floating in my kayak. Because of its design I didn’t have to worry about a pot slipping off the stove. It works great.

    Another suggestion, Boil the water, put the java press in all the way to the bottom, then add coffee. Rather than press the coffee grounds to the bottom, pull them up.. it prevents cleaning the nasty ground from the bottom of the cup, you will still need to wipe off the edge of the cup but it still beats wasting water on a hike!!!

      @crunch9876 3 года назад

      Then it’s not a press... coffee isn’t as strong that way I think

    Cool video. I bought the upgraded French press with the orange silicone ring. Coffee grounds still come to the top of the press. Yes you can get two 6 ounce cups of coffee with the press but the last cup will get a lot of sediment. Otherwise I think JB makes great products.

    I’ve received a Minimo. Like the Regulator for cold temperature boiling. Only thing I don’t like about it...the Lid doesn’t really button down with any sense of grip! Wished they’d made the lid more similar to Flash lid.

    The jetboil is a nice solution for hunters who want a quiet 1/2 pint of boiling water at mealtime. Bonus for high altitude hunters; the butane canisters work better at altitude.

    Only problem I see with this review is that Jetboil actually includes many of these accessories you talked about, with the Flash system. The orange base, and the pan base actually come with the stove. You almost made it seem like one had to go out and purchase them separately.

    • @paganphil100
      @paganphil100 5 лет назад

      Joey Henderson: According to this site only the orange base support is included. The pan-support is an "optional" extra costing £13.49 / $17.78.

    This video got me curious, so I paused the video and dug out my JetBoil to look at. I decided to check it and was able to boil 16 oz of room temperature water in around 90 seconds. I don't consider that too bad. I wish I had a large model to heat water for coffee And a meal, but it is called roughing it, right? I've had my JetBoil is a Model SOL-AL and it's measurements go up to 16 oz, but there's a little more room. I've only used it during power outages so far. Was living in the city, dreaming country. Like your video. Stay safe.

      All of the Jetboil cups are compatible with the burners, even with the older styles. A 1L cup would work on your SOL :)

    I look at it this way, if I'm out in the wilderness enjoying the view, I don't care how long it takes to boil water. I love my coleman stoves.

      True, but you are burning way more fuel and on long trips more fuel means more weight. But for car camping not backpacking you are 100% correct why fix what isn't broken.

    Need to test in wind. Wind always the killer. I think it would do fine. This is a water boiler. I’ve heard the frying pan attachment is crap. You said for summer control use the Mini Mo. going to research that. Good video

      @HuntTested  6 лет назад

      Russ Cambell thanks for the comment. I haven’t had any issues with wind. If you need simmer control definitely check out the Mo line. They have a couple of sizes now.

    Once youve finished your boil and there is gas left in the canister does it have a sealing component if you detatch it from the ignitor unit or do keep the canister attached to the ignitor and put in the cup as one unit pls?

      @PFPTHEGREATEST 3 года назад +1

      You can attach and detach the canister as many times as you'd like.

    Out of curiosity, which Flash has a better simmer, the older or current one?

    • @HuntTested
      @HuntTested  4 года назад

      Neither are awesome at simmering. They are designed for bring water to a boil fast. If you want to simmer, buy their MiniMO unit.

    I see you don't set the shimmer control with the same number of turns, so that it produces a different BTU value. The previous Jetboil you set 2 turn, and the new you set 3 turn 😒

    Boiltime on the new stove was 120sec. not 100sec !
    And now test it with a decent amount of wind........cause it is not always warm, sunny and with mild or no wind out there in the wild, then you realy need something warm to drink or eat.
    If a stove performs well under nasty conditions, it will do so with nice weather as well, BUT ITS NOT FOR SURE VISA VERSA
    I'm pretty sure, the MSR Windburner, or even better the Reactor will outrun the Jetboils by a mile for that real weather conditions.

    • @HuntTested
      @HuntTested  2 года назад

      Thanks for watching and for the comment. I have not tested the others that you mentioned so I cannot speak to their performance. Fair point about the wind! Always try to find a sheltered location out of the wind if you can.

    Rum & noodles?! 13:30: “So the Flash’s strong suit is really boiling water. You can cook soups in it or rum & noodles...”.
    (I’m in 🇬🇧. Maybe it’s an accent thing. I know what you meant - Ramen Noodles).
    It’s great seeing a video showing the differences between the old & newer versions. Thanks.

    The French press accessory sucks big time. It’s the best way to eat your coffee instead of drink it. It’s also obvious by the condition of all these stoves that you have never actually used them so all your doing is selling a product here.

    • @HuntTested
      @HuntTested  5 лет назад

      My preference is to use Starbuck Via micro-ground coffee in place of the french press. The new Jetboil was not used a ton prior to making the video. The older model Jetboil was used extensively, I'm just a bit obsessive about taking good care of my gear. Thanks for the watch!
