I love long formats video, in this time where social is dopamine filled, quick and short for the maximum user retention... it's a nice breathe of fresh air to see long format videos of yours :)
I love the long quality videos, you are a unique creator in this level... But then having more frequent shorter achivement run videos would be amazing from you too!
I love your content! To answer the question: I appreciate the long videos. In my opinion, the lenght gives the gameplay a lot of room to breath and you excell at creating a relaxed, cozy athmosphere. So for me specifically: I would love for you to continue with the longer videos, I just rewatch your older videos while waiting for new releases 😊
Thanks a lot for the support! I'm thrilled you like the longer videos, I actually like making them to tell the complete story. I'll make sure to keep them coming!
Personally I love the long form content but regardless of the length of the video be it short or long yours is leaps and bounds above the rest Alex keep up the amazing work! I think it would also be nice to see a mix of both long form and short form but thats just because i love your videos!
I tune out to longer series videos usually after the first one or two episodes, they are easier to produce but when your videos are released I know they are always worth my time.
Don't mind either long videos or short ones either way they always fun to watch. I love watching you explain every situation and walking through your thought process as you effortlessly destroy the ai!!
I really like the long form content, but I think you could also do really well making multi-episode series on the same campaign. That way we get to be invested in a nice long stream of content. I think this might also let you get more videos out for the amount of work you put in.
I like the old "let's lay" formula. I don't suggest to "only" do that, but 30 minutes videos, just the entire gameplay, with comments or without are highly interesting to me. It's what i did years back, a lot of EU4 as well. Never on your levels but it's like I learnt english. Still, great stuff from you :)
I feel like the longer form videos are a part of what sets you apart from other EU4 creators. Not a lot of others I watch see a game through to the end
Hey mate! I had no idea you were from Tashkent! I enjoy your long form videos but the main thing I like is your detailed commentary. So don't feel like the only reason people enjoy your videos is because they are long. Don't burn yourself out, just do what you want to do and I'll enjoy it!
Алекс-бей, как хочешь делай. Чаще, реже, как видится, так и надо. Главное, что ты лучший игрок в EU4, остальные ютуберы нервно курят в сторонке, кроме, разве что, Budget Monk. Рад твоему возвращению! TLDR any videos are welcome, at any frequency, as long as you enjoy recording and editing them😉
Благодарю за поддержку! Я сам давно смотрю BudgetMonk, многому у него научился. Его уровень пока для меня недостижим :) And thanks much for your preference, understood and noted.
Great video as usual. Regarding longer or shorter videos, personally i'm ok with both. The best option, if you have the time, would be making a long world conquest video a month and 1 or 2 shorter ones like this one.
I really love the long videoes and I think you should stay mostly with them but shorter videoes are propably better for channel growth. I think the best option would be to keep with longer vids but sprinkle some shorter videoes between.
New lore on Alex's life 😲 As to the length question I don't mind the longer runtime but it can be an issue sometimes to get the time to watch it and actually pay attention, not having it in the background while you're working on your car or something and you don't really listen bc you're preoccupied with something else. Most people can manage to get half an hour of hassle free time and it's still long enough to make something actually useful and interesting to watch, so I say middle of the road, around 30 minute ballpark with the same production quality would be ideal.
Hi Alex, I enjoy your long videos and it is what makes you stand out among other short guide RUclipsrs. However, achievement runs like Big Blue Blob, Animal Kingdom etc. can also be a good option without necessarily requiring you to conquer the world.
I guess a quick achievement run like this one today (got 2 achievements) would be an example. I'll need to make it more explicit though, for the sense of completion.
Hey Alex! I think the video length is secondary, I can see how with some topics/campaigns or stories a longer format makes more sense and in some, a shorter format. As long as it fits :)
Great video as always, I feel like you long videos are amazing but some short videos sometimes would be nice (I only say that to see more of your content ahahah)
I would see anything you come up with. Still rooting for that video, where you make your armies as strong as possible. Special units, modifier stacking etc.
Ahh, that's right! I still owe you that one :) Noted, thanks much. I've already recorded the next few campaigns but will do one like this. I did get the best unit type in the Aztec Sunrise, and some nice modifiers in the Dith campaign.
You don't owe me anything. Like I said, I would watch anything you put out. I think, that if you wanted, you could be the top EU4 content creator on RUclips. The quality of what you put out is just that good. And I don't think I'm alone with that opinion either.
Answering the question: It depends on the subject of the video, if it is a small race / small achievement, then the format for 20 minutes is ideal, if it is a long and potentially difficult game, then the format for 40+ minutes is much more suitable. (We'll be watching both). Thanks for the video!
Thank you, and it looks we're on track. I woke up to the video being half way there to the "like goal" in the first few hours, so I'm starting the Part 2 edits right now.
Ok.... Can we have both please? I would really like to see more frequent videos from you but I also like to see the complete campaigns... I watch Ludi and the Red Hawk and although I enjoy their content, because they quite often stop after about 100 years, I find myself asking "Then what?". I guess maybe splitting your longer campaigns into 20/30 min bites is a good compromise but tbh, I'll watch whatever you produce at this point ;-)
Thanks a bunch for the feedback! I hear you on the "then what" bit, had that question a few times myself. I'll see what I can do to mix it up and keep things interesting for you. Cheers for watching!
Already a lot of EU4 youtubers that do the shorter videos, one of the main draws of your channel for me is the longer campaigns, but doing both is propably better for you.
I guess I tried to make an example with this one, cutting it off before getting to form the Mughals. Maybe I'll start doing short achievement runs, while keeping the world conquests going now and then.
I think its hard to pick, for example the Dithmarchen video was pretty fun and that was long but this one was also a good one. I think its more on whether you'll get burned out by it
Great video! I enjoy long form videos more. But I think for your channel growth and also for work schedule short form may be more beneficial. And I can always watch videos back to back (if youtube ever fixes their autoplay algorithm)
I prefer longer videos and as i could see with the recommended videos im getting, most of theme are long videos, even hours long videos, but maybe thats just how youtube leqrned to recommend me stuff so hopefully that helps you grow. Nice stuff you got here, its half an hour of good gameplay, explanation and commentary, very nice
I enjoy the longform content but I have no issue with shorter videos released more regularly as well. I enjoy the grandiose campaigns you do so I think as long as you still finish the campaigns you could break them up into shorter parts to get the videos released more often.
Haha well I did win the "megalomaniac of the year" award on the Paradox forums back in 2003, so I guess some things never change :) Thanks for sharing your preference, well-noted!
I found this channel looking for WC tips, so i would say longer content, although it doesn't have to be WC just acheivement that will take quite awhile. ^^
This version is fine. Two/Three short videos will also be better for you I'd think. The only big thing, is remember to add them to a playlist and add 'links' at the start/end to go to the previous/next Part, so it's not a mess to keep watching the serie if we are coming to it late.
love your channel! very educational and also always enjoy watching a pro. looking forward to more in future! would be happy to support on patreon if you had one if it meant content could be more frequent.
also i posted this before seeing your question, but my thought is that different campaigns lend themselves to different types of videos. i would love to see you produce whatever you are excited about!
Thank you, much appreciated! Yep, I'm starting to ponder different way to make this channel economically viable for me. As it stands, I can only do this in my spare time after the day job.
Hi Alex, i recently did a Knights run myself (with the caribean achievement added after 1600 by moving to the new world) so it's good to see how different you can do it ( i went for Byz + Bulgaria vassalization, which has the added benefit of 'return core' disregards the province owner in the war). As to long short/format. I know how incredibly time consuming the late game is, so i would say a mix with shorter playthroughs is very wise, but since so few youtubers play past 1600, it would be your unique selling point to keep doing that too. Maybe 2 or 3 shorter plays for each longer? Maybe try and use the shorter playthroughs to go into interesting mechanics/mission trees as you play? You might even do 3 or 4 games to 1600 and then do a short video on how these can be played to WC/One faith and only do one of them based on a poll or something? And since your question also regards the length of the video, i would say 20-30 minutes is very good. If you release them in sequence (say 4-6 videos for a complete game) they will come up listed next to each other in your video list.
Nice! Did Byzantium get disloyal after you vassalized them? That's what I was weary of... Thanks for sharing your preference, these are great ideas for me to consider! Very clear.
@@StrategySphere If you conquer (one) their provinces and then release, they start very loyal. Feeding them back their cores also can give up to 100% modifier. So as long as you make sure you grow bigger yourself during the first 20-30 years they are never a problem. I did get into problems during my playthrough, but that was because i also force vassalized Serbia 😐. In the first few years they might sometimes get above 50% disloyal, but nothing you cant handle with placate and a few dev clicks.
Damn, i don't know what i did wrong, but as knight's i was never able to secure an alliace with Venice. Once i had a really fun campaing with them, where i conquered The Romans and got defeated by ottomans, putting up enough fight to remain opm on Cyprus. Suffice to say i decided to make an exodus to the new world and then retook Jerusalem. The most satisfying campaing i ever did
Ah, Venice seems to be really random. I didn’t even expect to be able to ally them, but it worked for a while. That sounds like a great campaign by the way, a true Phoenix!
I guess you could always mix. I personally prefer long videos, but whenever you feel a bit burnt out, you can change to shorter and more straightfoward videos. We will keep watching regardless.
Lets. Fucking. Go! Literally yelled this and my wife across my house was like WTF IS HAPPENING! And I just said "He uploaded a video" and she walked back into our bedroom lol. As for your question, I like short and long form. So long as there is a completion to the video. Not necessarily 1821 or WC. But like this, the objective is made clear and we're along for the ride.
Aslong as you can afford to have 12-16k troop, control Gallipoli and block the strait before ottomans can send their troops to balkans, you can easily 100% tge ottomans on your own (even in very hard). The key is to bait the AI into sending small stack at a time to siege constantinople/gallipoli, the block the straight and wile that stack. Repeat it a couple of times and ottomans will be lef5 without army or mapower ver quickly. Thats what i did on my most recent byz run.
I was at war with Byz, occupying Morea when they flipped to the Latin Empire and Poland joined the war? I've never seen that event fire in 2k hours played lol
@@StrategySphere I mean, some people may not want to watch 30+ min videos. For those people, maybe you can put timelapses (like EU4.DE-Valois does), or make fast meme videos (like Jaydawarlord does). While still making 30+ minute videos of the same save files. But of course, who am I to know. I personally like your videos the way they are now.
Long form 100%, you're the only one posting proper good long videos. Maybe mix in a short one then and there if you got some cool ideas for a campaign.
I personally prefer the long form videos, but I would be very appreciative of short form videos if it meant a greater quantity of videos from you. Maybe you could do a mixture of both?
On the topic of video lenght: i like longer form video. like you do 2 part both with a different "topic" (opening moves --> WC) i dont like watching a short video just to be told the thing i want to see will be in the next epidsode. what im trying to say is they should be long enough to show a topic or a cool strat.
I think long videos suits your channel best. I would love to see more long videos in your fashion like "eat your greens" achievement challange or "mehmet's ambition" in details. Despite that I have to agree: maxing AE/CCR in every video to achieve another wc will be boring eventually.
@@StrategySphere problem there will be that I will not get military access from Kebab and dont have that many transport ship :/ so merc is not a way in my run :(
@@TheDaroby Sometimes the Ottomans give access if Byzantium is allied to someone else. You can also get access from Venice and load lots of mercenaries on their island right next to Athens (which is what I did). In my case, Byzantium seems to have gone bankrupt after I took their southern lands and they disbanded most troops.
I usually don't like the over-edited short form EU4 videos getting pushed out by a lot of creators recently because it feels like the cliff notes version where they basically skip through 200 years of gameplay in 12 minutes. Your Dith campaign was a perfect watch for me and I never felt lost keeping up with your gameplay. Was good as both a potential tutorial and just as pure entertainment.
@@StrategySphere Amazing, haven't been able to afford the last DLCs due to stuff happening in the world so I am very excited to see the Byzantium run as my first look at its new content :) Keep up the great work
When you ask viewers if they want longer or shorter videos, theyll always say longer. This happens on every single channel that asks that question. When you look at what they click on however, its always the shorter, ~20 min videos. I dont know why this discrepancy exists. I personally also prefer longer format videos, but i might be part of that same fallacy.
This makes a lot of sense. Today's shorter video is so far outperforming most of my long-term campaigns, in terms of views per hour. I guess I'll start shopping up my grand campaigns into smaller chunks...
Do whatever is best for you on youtube monetization. I just wish that you do a full world conquest series for each country you choose, if ita on longer or shorter videos i dont care.
Conquering the world, one country at a time :) We can indeed do full WCs now and then, and strong set ups for various countries as a guide. Thanks for the suggestion! As for monetization, what Ludi does is the best - frequent videos covering opening moves with strong titles.
Honestly I just like when goals are completed. Wc or mission tree completions seem like a longer video. Quick forms or misc challenges could be much shorter.
To answer the question you posed to viewers, I am partial to the long form videos, but I don’t mind short ones
Cool, thanks for letting me know! I guess the trends is becoming clear, especially seeing how many likes your comment received.

You should make both kinds of videos. The shorter videos can fill in the gaps of your longer videos.
Yep, this makes a lot of sense.
I feel like the longer form videos are a part of what sets you apart from other EU4 creators. Not a lot of others I watch see a game through to the end

I guess a quick achievement run like this one today (got 2 achievements) would be an example. I'll need to make it more explicit though, for the sense of completion.

This makes a lot of sense!
20 min is a short nice vid while break so i like it
Makes sense to me! :)
I like the long-form videos.
Well noted!
Your support means a lot, and I appreciate you sticking around for the channel. Well noted!
Lets. Fucking.
Haha love it! You made my day :) And thanks, got your point re: completion, I guess that's indeed the essence of it.
Great strategy! Thanks for sharing. I usually try to bring a large crowd to fight on my side, as you've seen. Will need to try soloing it.
I was at war with Byz, occupying Morea when they flipped to the Latin Empire and Poland joined the war? I've never seen that event fire in 2k hours played lol
Yep, that sure sounds new :)
like the short form a bit more, more fun than seeing WC everytime
Thanks much and yep, those things can get tedious fast.
Long > Short for me! I can wait if you are in hurry or stress to produce. Just go on with your quality ;)
Thanks much, well noted :)
Please produce both long and short videos for the same games.
You mean like Ludi does sometimes - short episodes as he plays the campaign, and then the full video? Could be a great idea.
@@stozoul ahh, makes sense! Thanks :)
Long form 100%, you're the only one posting proper good long videos. Maybe mix in a short one then and there if you got some cool ideas for a campaign.
Thanks, it makes a lot of sense!
I personally prefer the long form videos, but I would be very appreciative of short form videos if it meant a greater quantity of videos from you. Maybe you could do a mixture of both?
Thank you, got it. Will see what I can do!
Babe wake up, Strategy Sphere released a new video
Who needs an alarm clock when you have my videos, huh? :)
On the topic of video lenght: i like longer form video. like you do 2 part both with a different "topic" (opening moves --> WC)
i dont like watching a short video just to be told the thing i want to see will be in the next epidsode.
what im trying to say is they should be long enough to show a topic or a cool strat.
Totally get what you mean about cliffhangers. Thanks much for the input! :)
I think a long video is better than bunch of shorter versions for a eu4 content
Yep, makes sense... better to tell the full story, too.
Long videos are better but do what you prefer I'll be watching regardless
Thanks much, I appreciate it.
I think long videos suits your channel best. I would love to see more long videos in your fashion like "eat your greens" achievement challange or "mehmet's ambition" in details. Despite that I have to agree: maxing AE/CCR in every video to achieve another wc will be boring eventually.
Totally agree with you. Got to find a way to offer more variety :)
You were lucky at the begging... I tried it few times, but Byzantin is sitting with his 14k troops Mesambria (all the time from my 11 tries)
In this case, I’d hire more mercs, probably. I also know a few other RUclipsrs made Knights videos, maybe they had different approaches?
I'm glad you enjoyed the Dith campaign! More like that is coming - already recorded with Saluzzo, Provence, and Byzantium. Thank you for the feedback!
@@StrategySphere Amazing, haven't been able to afford the last DLCs due to stuff happening in the world so I am very excited to see the Byzantium run as my first look at its new content :)
Keep up the great work
When you ask viewers if they want longer or shorter videos, theyll always say longer.
I think a mix is good. Long format is cool but a shorter video can be good too. The super high effort video has to be tough to keep up.
continue with long form content.
Thanks for your preference, clear! :)
Continue with the long form ones
Well noted, thanks much!
Video length and release schedule is neither here nor there for me: do the campaigns that you find interesting and give tips as you go.
Long videos are king for me
Long videos are like a good book - or so I hope :)
Honestly I just like when goals are completed. Wc or mission tree completions seem like a longer video. Quick forms or misc challenges could be much shorter.
Yep, this actually makes a lot of sense.
