I so love the grumpy/sunshine dynamic you two have, like characters in a romance novel. Chad's the cynic (which I actually find refreshing because I think he's often right, and sometimes it's good to hear the truth) but Ash sees the optimism and beauty in everything, and enjoys things even if they're a bit commercial or overhyped etc. I can relate to both of you in equal measure!
I’m American, and spend a few days in London every year, but I’m usually confined to Central London and the more touristy bits, so it’s nice to get out into other neighborhoods, so thanks for the outing. I enjoyed it.
Ash, thank you for this enjoyable Vlogmas Day 8. I loved the tour around town and your open and honest comments. As an American, I'm not familiar with these trends in the UK, but can relate to the same trends here in the USA. My mouth was watering when you made the Mac and Cheese dish. It must have been delicious. Looking forward to Vlogmas # 9. I will miss this when Christmas is over. Robert.
I really enjoyed the tour and conversation about different neighborhoods. As a native New Yorker, I know first hand about gentrification and how an area changes. Very much appreciated your guys take on it. Keep up the great work. I am loving Vlogmas.
The mac/cheese looks absolutely delicious 💛😋 The volume seemed very low on both my cellphone (on full volume) and on the RUclips TV channel. Enjoy your vlogmases ❤🎄💚
Loved this vlog! Nice to see different neighborhoods and houses! Your current house is great, so you should take your time to find something you both will like.
We were in Fulham before and we looked at a tonne of areas. It took a lot of persuading but my partner got me to look at the Battersea/Wandsworth area near Clapham junction station which we eventually moved to and now I am totally in love with it. Best of everything, it feels like a very underrated Hampstead where we live, and massive potential upside for properties.
Never been to london live in United States born rased here love my country I will love to go to London some day but its not on my wish list or anything, but still pretty love your videos so fun !!!
Hey Ash, sorry I’m a bit late commenting ( life just gets in the way sometimes) anyway, your mac & cheese looked fantastic. Dinner at your house I say😂😂. Great to see Chad again. The house with the yellow door is my sort off thing. Lovely. I’m sure you’ll both find a beautiful home soon. Catch ya today hehe
I am loving your vlogs and do you live in Stratford? Interesting what you say about the areas and gentrification. On the up which is good. Boris bringing the Olympic Stadium to upgrade and boost the area helped and the east does have stigma but he tried hard to stamp out crime and with the Stratford Shopping Centre it gives some new life.
So nice to see all of the small shops! Over here USA they are very few around… Amazon rules. Chad was very negative today. We all have off days.. Your vlogs are always interesting. Thanks!
Love seeing someone vlogging Broadway Market - that’s my stomping ground! Totally agree Hackney’s pricey, but I’d never move to West London. Every time I’m there, it feels so dull and soulless, plus the streets feel kinda unfriendly. So many empty houses just sitting there thanks to investors. I think East London is the place to be. You should wander around Tredegar Square near Mile End and up to Victoria Park - such a lovely area with gorgeous terraced houses and not too many council estates.
Wherever you live in London you will see rundown buildings next to muti million pound homes. I think it's what makes London unique. Rich and poor live side by side unlike in other cities. London is well known for having extremes of poverty and wealth. Even Fulham has run down parts. I think Chad would like Barnes in South West london. But have you both considered Battersea a short walk across the bridge and your in Chelsea without the price tag. Or Greenwich that's a lovely part of South East london but very touristy. Keep up the vlogs it's enjoyable watching.
I agree, I live somewhere where rich and poor live cheek to jowl and it makes for a great community, granted it could be prettier in places but generally it looks great and has an amazing atmosphere where everyone says hello to each other and people from all walks of life get involved in community gatherings and get along with each other and look out for each other x
Hi guys, I’m coming down to Clapham to stay in my son’s flat while he is away on holiday, from the 28th December, where are some nice areas to visit. Love interior’s and small boutiques/antiques. Any ideas would be appreciated. Female in her 50s
Hi Pauline, I’d recommend a trip to Greenwich village. Lots of lovely shops and market stalls there, and you can take the boat from Westminster there, with scenic views along the way. Islington is also a great spot, and Fulham too.
First, let me say i love Chad's hat. Second do you guys have a P.O. box that your viewers can send gifts to if we so desire. Third the Mac and Cheese looked incredible and delicious, what would you say is your comfort food? Thanks look forward to your videos to come. ❤
I have, to an extent, been a beneficiary of gentrification in my own city. Also though, I have lost as a result of it. Impossible for me to upgrade my home because the 'better' home now costs so much more than it did not so long ago. Mind you, I am still vastly better off than many, who have been locked out of the market to buy. Here, it is not just a question of moving from the east (expensive) to the west (cheaper). Now, the west is expensive also! No areas exist for poor people. Even the regional cities have become pricey! Thank you for the video!
Another super interesting video. Thanks! BTW I used to be an anti-organic wine snob like Chad, and then I learned about the additives, especially in Cali wines, but French too. But I agree they aren't as good as the traditional wines. You guys are great together!
we were in Rioja Spain and I searched for an organic winery and one of them LITERALLY stomps on the grapes with their feet 😳 so I don’t think Chad is far off for some organic wineries at least. But we did go to other wineries who make organic wine but in a more sanitary way.
Chad's assessment of areas of London I so agree with - the 'village' term is ridiculous - Highgate village for example multimillion pound houses & a stones throw from Archwsy & The Holloway Road. Islington is a no no for me also - too busy.
If you’re moving to get a larger home or if your current neighbourhood is awful , that’s understandable. But if your current place suits and the surroundings will be more gentrified in a few yrs,why go through the hassle & expense of selling, moving and buying? It just seems like a lot of bother, Mais chachun à son goût. Your mac & cheese looks lovely, mine is similar but with Colman’s mustard and a splash of the Worcester sauce.
Gentrification just means nice people move into a shithole because they can’t afford to live in a nice area. Everyone outside London laughs into their sleeves. A million pounds for a two up two down is so ridiculous but each to their own.
Chad how did you become a snob? You have so much to be grateful for and England is a great hodge podge of people but you and Ash can't seem to enjoy your blessings. Is this just an act?
Shocked and appalled! Grey Poupon is not authentic Dijon mustard. The taste is dreadful. You should have no problem getting proper Dijon mustard in London and possibly cheaper than GP. In the US you can get authentic mustard at for about $2. at Trader Joe’s which I understand you don’t have there, but really get la vraie chose. You will appreciate the difference.

Thank-you for filming the areas you walked through. Some beautiful buildings

Mac and cheese is always a good choice. I make mine with Gruyère, fontina, cheddar, and Parmesan… decadent but delicious.

Your mac & cheese looked delish! When you were discussing your lighting, funny, but I was just wishing my skin looked as great as yours!
The Mac & Cheese looks amazing! Can you put hot pots on the wood countertop? I’m thinking about getting wood countertops and curious to know.

Mac and cheese and Elf...that's good living!....SANTA!!!...LOL!
London villages, were villages that were incorporated as London grew. Yes l think estate agents possibly resurrected it.
That mac and cheese looked delicious. I am sorry to say this Ash, but everytime i see your plates i am reminded of paper plates- am i the only one.
Now you’ve said it that’s all I can see 😂

Come to Chertsey! Ok, it's half an hour outside London but you will get a stunning house here for a fraction of the price you'll pay in town!
So agree I only discovered recently how expensive Hackney is - I was shocked. Would you guys consider the Chiswick area?
We're open to most areas, we'll definitely look into Chiswick!
Have you looked at Crouch End in N8

Have you seen Dulwich in SE London, or even Camberwell?
Save me some, I’ll be over tomorrow
