Dammit all my bikes are in perfect shape 😂 About the Suzuki, restore it back to OEM and add your touch like with the CR; a nice rims, brake and clutch lever, carbon gas tank, etc. Keep it pryme 👌🏼
I'm probably in the minority but with your expertise and attention to detail I'd really like to see you completely set up a good enduro bike.....anything from an old KDX to an XR to ......?

@@marcust9918 Sounds like a winner. Years ago I was riding a primo YZ 465 in Wyoming and found that the gearing/forks etc. were not the hot set-up for the type of riding that I was doing. Found an IT 465 in OK shape for $300, I found that by using various parts....forks/shock/ barrel/etc. I could configure the YZ for any type of riding I wanted to do. I really liked the wide-ratio trans from the IT. Along with what you're talking about.....really like the YZ250X...have you seen one of those?
The 250x is my dream bike right now, i had an 05 250 that i still regret selling.

Hope you get your dream....I've heard nothing but good about them. Giving KTM's a run for the money. Used to race Husqvarnas....I think I went thru 6 of them. They always brought me home...damn solo riding in mountains is not smart but nobody ever accused me of being smart.

Gusset that frame before you powder coat it, the rms always had frame flex issues. They sometimes would flex bad enough to crack cylinders/heads. Great bikes though, one of the best handling bikes out there.

You should do the og style plastics I always liked it, it looks like the stock subframe but it's been modified for sure so not 100% mine was geared toward woods style riding so I had a fmf gnarly pipe and a flywheel weight

Nice to see different brands roll into your garage, i dont see that much Suzuki builds. Mostly Ktm, Honda, Yamaha and Kawasaki. After this a Beta, TM, Sherco or Gas Gas (or even a retro 60/70s bike) built would be really nice, god i love those Spanish and Italian (just as much as the Japanese and Austrian brands tho) bikes!

Oem Cam style all the way!! The '01-'07 Rm is a bad ass bike all on it's own and doesn't need bastardising with modern plastics, if you want a modern looking bike buy a later model !!

Hi Cam, so excited for this build, I would go back to retro plastics, stay true to the bikes heritage but with a modern twist, go full bumble bee with black and yellow. Lots of black anodising, black Kashima coatings, black ceramic etc and then add some enduro goodies.

I have rebuilt my own moped. It got stolen about a year ago and was lost for six months. I transformed it to the same condition it was before, and about three months ago I did install an Efi kit to it. Just to show off. Skyteam monkey 2017

Mint to see an RM last gen 2t the best Suzuki made, jmo take it back to original, great looking model, imo the restyle kits ruin it, like a super model getting botox when not needed. She will be a sweet project. I loved the RC 06 Replica, great handling bike, I think you will be pleasantly surprised how good this bike is when shes done. 🤙
btw dump those pos SSF forks and get an original spring fork from the last gen RMs, they had a good fork. do your magic be as good as anything.🤙

That 2001 Rm250 is a great year for aftermarket parts, I cannot find many aftermarket parts for my 2000 Rm’s, it sucks!

That's a KYB shock, they didn't change to Showa until 2003. You gonna get a Showa shock or KYB forks to get them matching? That is also probably an RMZ full front end, I don't believe SFF 48mm forks would fit in stock 47mm RM clamps.
Hey Cameron! Amazing Videos! Would love to see a Moped dirt bike tuning build! The 50cc Derbi Senda 2005-2009 is perfect for this! Swap for 125cc? File and build an exhaust? So many options. Keep it up :)

Nice... I have a 01 rm125 all done up. A company in Italy makes a trick aluminum gas tank that you can use 2018 rmz450 shrouds. Think they run about $700. Funx pretty sure is the name. Can’t wait to see what your going to do.
I have a 2002 honda crf450r That I have been working on and my last bike that I worked on was a 1985 tri z250 Always love to bring an old bike back from the dead and I can't wait to see The new bike All fixed up.
Great choise for next project! Rear shock is definitely kyb and it has pretty shitty valving. You can take couple of face shins from compression stack and put it into rebound. That helped a lot with 2003 rm250 i used to own

I ride an '01 RM250, so I'm super stoked to follow this build. Couple thoughts from me:
That swing arm does not originally belong to an 01, might wanna figure that out.
I personally prefer the OG look of those last gen RMs. The RMZ fenders are super ugly compared to the stock RM ones, and the only part of the restlye kit that I like are the side panels. I'd go totally original and just trim the side panels to how you like. Just my opinion, though.
I'd love to see you do a woods build with this bike. Mine is an absolute beast in the desert, would like to see someone else's take on an enduro style RM.
Either way I can't wait to see you get started man. I hope you have as much fun with it as we do watching!

Cam, I believe the colour scheme should be old school Suzuki style, Yellow, Blue, Gold, and Silver. The best colour scheme I've seen from magazine photos, was the mid-80s factory Honda CR's. Absolute eye candy. Simple graphics, without becoming a mobile billboard. Enjoy watching your bike builds from Australia.

I'm working on one of my RM125 frome 07. When this is done im going to renovate my other RM125 frome 08. I don't know if I'm going crazy with Reed valve. Karburator. Stroker cylinder and so on yet. Since my riding i amateur and I really should change to a 4stroke since they fit my riding style better

I have a 1996 rm 250 that's almost done..new everything, would love to show it to you..i dont know how to upload pics tho..lol..i'm old school..been rebuilding dirt bikes since 1986..it's an addiction..so many bikes to little time...cant wait to see what this 2001 will turn out looking..keep up the awesome work, not alot of dirt bike restorers out there like us..glad your happy and back to good health and congrats for gettin hithched..peace out!!
Make it a trail/woods bike!!! They are killer on the single track. FWW, skid plate, Lectron carb, 18" rear, Gnarly pipe... I'm sure you'll find lots of trick parts to add!

Cameron I would do all yellow plastics with gold talon hubs and gold excel A60's black back arounds to offset the yellow. I did a complete tear down and rebuild of a 2001 last year, it came out epic thanks to all the tips you share with us on your channel : ) I've owned 5 rm 250 2 smokers all over 2001 by far one of the best handling in all conditions bikes Yewww!!
You have inspired me to do a "project bike". I have found a 1995 RM250 for $700. Is that too old? Worried about finding parts. Keep up the great videos!
@Cameron Niemela I got the front fender mounting bracket for the new Rm 250 fenders that come in the polisport kit. Will send it to you for a hat or T=shirt. If you need let me know. Man I just finished My 08 rm 250 rebuild. That sux. I wanted to be in the contest. I do have a Rm 85 i am redoing does that work?
I really thought you had another honda when i saw the honda advert... suzuki are really good at setting up forks for production bikes. Atleast for my weight. My cr250 91 has rmz 250 09 forks fitted. I wouldnt change them ever i had a go on a 08 crf 250 and thought the front forks sucked. Although nowhere near as bad as the showa 45s that was like riding a jackhammer
I have the same bike. I did an Eric Gorr 265 kit and porting, lectron carb, FMF pipe and silencer. Awesome woods bike. Handles incredible. Do a woods bike build, stock plastic.

Damn my bike build is nearly completet... i picked a challenge and rebuild a husky cr 125 2011. it's really hard to find parts for this thing, but if you look all over the world you will find the most.
My vote is a RM 250 supermoto build! All metal components black, gold rims, and the biggest bore/stroke you can make it. Possibly gold Ohlins to go with the rims
