I attended this meeting; these people do NOT speak for the majority of Fall River residents! (Myself included). I'm now retired, but I used to commute at least part way on Rt. 24; it could be a horror show at times. Looking forward to being able to visit Boston WITHOUT battling traffic!

I respect the town's autonomy. Not everything is about further economical gain. This train might increase traffic if more people come than can be accomadated for. People should know by now when big business comes into town the poor get stepped on. Some people want something new and they are not willing to sacrifice that shiny new object for the greater good of the community. To call people wackos for exercising their rights is disturbing.

NIMBYS should move away. Rail has been there first.

Opinions are not news. Facts are. I wish today's media could understand the difference between the two and STOP placing a microphone in front of someone with an opinion. As the saying goes; "Opinions are like a$$holes. Everyone has one."
The rail project has been fully funded for nearly a decade now at no cost to anyone. Is it on time? Yes. Is it on budget? Yes. Will trains start running in 2023? Yes. Has the ENTIRE community been apprised of the project since inception with the ability to raise objections and concerns prior to construction? YES. The WPRI story is nothing more than pandering. Shame on them.

the good news is the wackos that tried desperately hard to convince the city to vote it down failed royally... these are the same people that fight against any progress in the city, they have been doing it for years.. that kid Nelson is a young up and comer.. he is the newest pet of the aging activists in Fall River

Well the footage was highly edited so you didn't really hear his argument unless you were there. You are most likely assuming people didn't reject this project from the beginning. I live two blocks away from one of the stations in NB. I can see how bad the traffic is going to get when the train is operational. People will be parking all over the neighborhood and the new traffic lights they put up at kings highway is so awful. The train isn't operational yet just the new traffic lights have increased traffic with very poor design whoever ran that project I promise you I can do better. One of the stop lights incoming from 195 stops cars for no good reason when before it was just a yield sign. There is no good reason for that to be there. I can see it now it is going to be a shit show. If any of the people involved would contact me I can give you a few pointers. I know every shortcut in this city and they taking them all away which forces people like me to join the heard of terrible drivers .
I am neutral to the train being installed, but so far I don't like how it is starting.

The rail does not increase cost of living. In fact it brings opportunity because construction is usually built around it such as malls, businesses, casinos, restaurants, and oh yeah housing usually affordable housing. So I’d be for this project if you’re trying to decrease cost of living not against it.

Even though I do like trains I know some people don't like railroads being built on or near their property but whatever happens happens I mean you got to do your best to fight and hope for the best at least it brings better transportation and better Freight delivery

considering the mbta and commuter rail is absolute garbage service and in disrepair, yeah it's not worth the expansion. if the entire system was quality, sure expand away. massachusetts infrastructure is garbage though, repair before expansion. the stupid brand new green line extension is already causing problems, let's keep throwing our tax money at it though! oh and let's fill our hotels with random immigrants that don't pay for the system
