    The best variant for making money is Green Wavy. It grows like crazy, vertically and forms dense bushes. I have almost all comercially sold variants and none come even close. Maybe Kedagang. When you need to sell just take a bush and trim stems with 8-10 leaves and roots. You should leave stems with 0-2 leaves on the bush, those will start growing over time into new branches. Don't sell to quick. The more you have the faster you multiply. I grow them in high light, moderate Co2. If you lack space you can use suckers and a pipe placed on your aquarium walls and stick bushes between the pipe and glass. Vertical gardening style. Use proceeds to aquire new types, the rares the better. There are hundreads of types so you have a lot of work ahead. Cheers.

      Hey Bentley have you heard about fig trees there super easy to grow and hardy there’s thousands of self fertile collectible varieties that can be worth hundreds of dollars a rooted out cutting and they can all taste delicious with different berry flavors the varieties sold at the stores are way less good and that’s why they have a bad rap but there rare varieties that taste like cherry candy or strawberries and meany more amazing berries flavors.

      P.S. u drop so much good info about plants and I saw your nice cat, so here’s some cat hacks for you. You probably already know most of them but still maybe a fun easter egg for someone to find.
      - feed them on a plate, not in a bowl. Bowl irritates whisker muscles.
      - cats distrust still water! give them water with fountains, not containers. Try washing cats in running water too.
      - nape of the neck, where momma cat carrys kitten with, immobilizes kitten while being carried - but this effect never goes away! Grab adult cats by a handful of nape to immobilize them! Helps with bathing them too!
      - don’t put their food and water next to each other, nor either of those by a litterbox.
      - put several litterboxes and several water fountains for them around the house. Makes them feel like they have a larger territory.
      - dispense part of their daily meal via puzzle toy at some other part of the day
      - 30 minutes of play time per day - hunting exercises, etc
      - try ending playtime with treats, vaguely simulating ending the hunt with a kill
      - cats love crickets as much as Oscars do! And they’re super healthy for them! Maybe end playtime with crickets!
      - cats like heights! Build shelf-ladders so they can hop up to a shelf way up by the ceiling. Put a hidey box and maybe a water fountain up there!
      - cats don’t like scents from laundry soaps, rug shampoos, etc. Always go for unscented or pet friendly cleaners, even on your own clothes!
      - scientists studied cat brain waves to find out what music cats like! They came up with special music for cats! It’s completely ridiculous and there’s RUclips videos of cat music which you can play for your cat, as well as videos of other people’s cats listening to cat music!
      😁👍

    I recently found your channel, became a subscriber and been watching several of your videos. I am glad to learn that you are also in the great Seattle area where I live. I am a big fan of the buchephalandra. I like their different varieties and I especially like when they are about to flower so there is that expectation. I have grown buce in both mid-light 20-long tank with no CO2 and in high-light 20-tall tank with CO2. Of course, when there is CO2, the plant grows faster, but even without CO2, it did well. I think this is because I wasn't looking to sell them for profit, just enjoy watching them so I didn't mind the slow growth. I found buce works really well with dragon stones cos all the holes that I can stick the plants in. Anyway, really enjoyed your video and thank you for sharing your knowledge with us.

    NW Aquahobby (youtube channel) is cultivating buce immersed in his garage, he has done some testing, and it just grows so much faster emersed. Even if you want to sell it in its submerged state, you can grow it emersed, and the time it takes to adapt to the new conditions will still save time. Additionally when growing emersed it makes it a lot easier to provide ideal nutrients to the plants. Mind you i am talking purely if you plan to profit from sales and cultivate this as opposed to enjoy it.

    I use small red lava rocks with drilled holes (tunnels) through it. This is very good place to implant Buces or Anubias, even without a glue at all. I use 6 mm drill and small cordless driller - just be careful, lava rocks are easy to crack :)

    I haven't been into plants long but I haven't heard anyone say that in nature plants generally have a cycle of long grown followed by usually a short period of dying back and then growing again but in our aquariums we try to make them grow nonstop which is why I think a lot of people have trouble with Buce and crypts bc they grow slower and are generally more affected by those changes

    Another great video. You provide excellent information, thanks for sharing your knowledge. When you glue buce to a rock, do you put glue on the stem, roots or on the rhizhome?

    • @BentleyPascoe
      @BentleyPascoe  4 года назад

      Rhizome. I try to avoid much glue on the roots, though some will happen. I usually apply glue to the side of the rhizome when possible and adhere to my surface.

    I find that if you have a nutrient rich substrate and keep buce near it, the buce will eventually send down roots into that substrate and at least in my experience it seems like the buce will grow much faster once it does that as well.

    • @bundlesofjoe
      @bundlesofjoe 9 месяцев назад

      To those aren't actually roots. They serve two purposes, 1 the anchor to hardscape, and 2 minor nutrient absorption. The rhizome and leaves are where tha vast majority of nutrient up take happens. So while there will be a very slight increase in growth you may also damage the plant if the fertilizer has say root tabs or has had years with livestock but no rooted plants and built up a thick mulm layer at the bottom that's super concentrated fertilizer basically and can burn the roots of buce. Not sure if there is a term other than roots to refer to them as they aren't actually roots. You would think so but I've yet to hear of one.

    One more thing... Many places sell emersed... So ask before you buy.
    Bucephalandra can convert without melting in am ideal environment... I have no luck achieving this. If you don't, it will also melt away. You may have almost nothing but bare rhizome... As long as the rhizome does not rot, (get mushy) it will grow back.

    Just a note from experience, of your cooking buce at 150+ par
    Do not even move your buce.
    Once you set it somewhere, even bumping it can cause it to melt away. Direction of light can cause it to melt.

I'm starting with single rhizomes of many different types and still figuring out how best to arrange them, so creating a map wouldn't work so well for me. Also - really great video! Thanks!

    I have tons of buce and I been collecting since 2013 , I am fully aware of the situation of buce being poached that's why I'm so upset for not getting proper identification of my buce! I have no idea what species I have or how rare they are...I think the names are counter productive and Wish scientific names were what everything was sold as also I think the prices are out of control in America and are one of the biggest reasons the illegal buce market is still thriving, sadly!! But definitely a awesome plant and certainly one with many stories and stigmas

    • @BentleyPascoe
      @BentleyPascoe  4 года назад +1

      Part of the naming problem is that it takes so long to describe and a new flashy name can basically just generate sales despite the plant being the same as something else

    You're my go to Bentley. What Buce is the best flowerer without special conditions?
    What Buce is the easiest of the wavy leafed?
    What Buce that are purple or black are the easiest to keep?
    What Buce if you know is actually closest to being all three?
    I heard on George Farmer something about Buce albida is his favorite..cant find another mention on the internet let alone buy one. What he called Buce albida was dark leafed and flowered very well. Just cannot find a lead on it. I asked him..no answer so far.

    • @BentleyPascoe
      @BentleyPascoe  3 года назад +2

      Albida is a crypt, specifically crypt albida brown. I would look at nice green wavy, buce brownie brown or blue for flowering. For darker near black really that's typically skeleton king and it's more difficult. Buce super red mini has a dark too leaf, red stem and it's pretty easy.
