- In this video I unbox and test fly the Holy Stone HS720E GPS Camera Drone. The HS720E is often a first drone for many drone hobbyists. As someone who is reviewing a drone you should really do both the gyro and compass calibration before each flight. This is exactly why you are having these eratic control issues. Try calibration then fly and you'll see a huge difference

The only thing about this drone I like is it pushed me to the Mini2. As another comment here said my was physco in flight and I have not flown it since. Too unreliable. I do use the case for my mini 2. I also bought 2 extra batteries and one of the 4 swelled and is not usable any more. Hope you have better luck with it than I did.

After reading the instructions first me i had no issues I realized i had headless mode which was on the way of the controls but I got it working with no issues

Controller is identical to the MJX Bugs controller. Drone is similar to the Bugs B12. Nice review.
It does appear to be an MJX controller.
Why no Gyro calibration ? Every other reviewer had no problem with up to 500m wifi connection and around 700m control, maybe you got a bad one, btw low and high speed mode, it goes faster with GPS off

Thats right after much budget drones like the kun SG908 the c fly faith 2 al drones had gimbal problems i saved money and i have buyed a dji mini 2 yesterday its expensive but worth the money!
Recently returned this drone. Had it for about 3 weeks. It was hit or miss with it. Started out good but things got bad soon after that. Loosing connection & erratic flying. Even with 15+ satellites locked, it would go crazy. First HS was the 175D which had very similar issues. Got this one thinking it was going to be better. HS has great customer service though. They came through for me. HolyStone Customer Service 5 stars. HolyStone Drones 1 star. If it wasn’t for the erratic flying and loosing connection, it would be a great drone. Not cheap btw, paid $350 on Amazon.

Marcus, another interesting and watchable vid. Amoung my drones I have a Holy Stone 120D and when flying on odd occasions I've had the same problem you describe control wise. It's almost as if the drone has a mind of it's own. The 120 is a nice drone otherwise but not to great in any kind of wind. By the bye, could you include the wind speed the drone you test are supposed to be able to deal with, even rough guidance would be helpful :-)

I have had this drone and several other HolyStone GPS drones. They all look great when they arrive. And then they get stupid and crash. Never fly HS around people or property. Geo interference could be the problem. All of them have had the same controller. Only usable in atti mode, at best.
Nice look at this one Marcus. Once this drone gets a mind of its own though watch out. Lol. Also nice unboxing and overview and yes Holy Stone is pretty much an exclusive Amazon seller.

wild one...I mean it was Psycho ....Flying fine one minute then would go wild the next...

Does anyone know why I can't connect HS720E when my friend is flying next to me with his HS700E ? when I try to connect, my phone only see's the HS700E and not my HS720E until he disconnects his. In other words, we can't fly both next to each other at the sametime.
l think you should call holy stone and tell them to send you another drone ,you might get a good one Good Luck.

There are 2 calibrations, the gps and the gyro. That is why you were having problems.

The hs720e is hugely popular….lots of guys get them even if they have a dji or other higher end drone….the hobby’s about flying things not just names I guess
I agree, it is a popular product.
Must admit I have this drone, and have had no problem with it, the last app update was a nightmare, had to downgrade it or use its alternative, but so far so good.

Fly it with the GPS switch in the off position, it should fly just fine .lt has bad soft ware issues .l have two of them both do same thing
Thank you for your very thorough review of this drone. It looks like 70% of the reviews of this drone on Amazon were a "5". Why so high? From what I have seen here, this drone is awful in just about every way. I understand that Holystone sent you the drone to review for publicity, but they just made themselves look bad. As we have discussed here before, people should just stick with the DJI Mini SE if they want a low priced drone. Let's hope DJI will continue to be allowed to sell drones in the US in the future, considering their potential placement on the US "Covered List".

Good review and warning Marcus. Guess they were Holy Stoned when they made this one , because the dji mini se is $100 cheaper ,has 3 axis stabilization, better video and is sub 250 gram weight. Holy Overpriced Batman.

Dji mini se is $100 more, or 50% more. Other factors make the 720 a good choice, 2 batts, screen telemetry, 4k. Give and take for both of them
@@flwoods1 actually here, the Mini SE is $300, and this is $340. Plus 4k doesn't necessarily mean better video results.
I guess everyone knows on the air 2s you can turn gimbal to the right the left up and down while flying straight or backwards and in return to home so you can record looking right and left.

You had a few issues out there, but I thinking it wasn't bad for a budget quad. Then I looked at the price and saw it was more than the DJI Mini SE. The new Mini SE has just killed the toy drone market at this point, it's much better than other drones priced at around the same point. Great review, I know doing these budget drone isn't easy.

You didnt calibrate the remote controller after spinning the drone. You have to pull both sticks down at the same time bottom left.

I was just sent this one too to do a review. I am new to drones, this is the first one I ever flown. just a quick in the back yard, it was drifting all over the place and it wouldn't respond to my sticks and flew into a bush. So for not impressed at all.
If you are looking for a reasonable priced drone that really works great, take a look at the DJI Mini SE. It's available on Amazon for $299.
@@IdahoQuadcopter if I was to buy one I would want to get a good quality one, not just for my travel show but I have a video production company too, I need good quality footage and the footage I have seen from the Holy Stone (even though they say it is 4k) looks really bad. looks more like 720 lol

You did not do a proper gps acclimation for this drone. You can’t just spin it three times quickly horizontally and vertically like you did.
See you've got me there. I don't even know what a GPS acclimation is! I am glad that I got the compass and gyro calibrations right however. 👍

I have owned this drone and a good friend of mine had one as well. Mine had camera issues and constant connection issues. My friends 720E was a nightmare to controll, flew off in random directions and it almost hit someone so he sent it back. I recommend everyone stay clear of this product.
Holy Stone has great customer service.
Turn the GPS off and it will level out,
"Currently unavailable."

BUYER BEWARE!!!
Don't expect this thing to work properly past it's warranty even if you are careful with it! The camera stops connecting and customer support will leave you hanging.
I got my drone for Christmas 2020 and it worked just fine for the first couple of years, then one day I take it out to fly and it just stopped connecting to anything to view it's camera, rendering the thing useless for drone shots which is the only reason I wanted it in the first place. To add insult to injury, customer support was quick to say there was nothing they can do and even hangs up on me when I ask for alternate fixes. For almost $300 You are better off spending your money elseware.
