- President Cyril Ramaphosa has officially signed the contentious National Health Insurance (NHI) Bill into law. The piece of legislation, which has been on the president's desk since June last year, paves the way for universal access to quality healthcare in the country.
All those present here must be forced to go to public hospital
No running other countries for themselves
Private hospitals must refuse to admit them. Send them to Johannesburg General!
They will go to Singapore for healthcare. They should rather have focused on service delivery in the state hospitals. Too many untrained staff and no accountability.

The current medical system does not work. 😮 I was a month ago with a friend to the Strand clinic. While sitting outside waiting the Registered Nurse came out explaining that they do not have enough doctors due to the fact that there are no money anymore. No medicine. At the end of the day she had to go to the Hospital to get her medicine there. What n nightmare!!!!!! At out patience there was n lady helping a patient and the next moment she told him that the doctor needs her urgently. We were standing there. Waiting for her. When she came out she told the guy it is 4 o'clock. She does not get overtime. She is leaving. 😮😮😮 She just left us there. The mental impact that this had on my friend. PLEASE SAVE US OF THIS CORRUPTED GOVERMENT.

You received a health care system that worked ,you broke it with your comrades who took that very , well run health care that was available for all and broke to that nobody wanted to use it . Because your comrades made the very same public feel unwelcome at the same hospital, the good personal went away and the ones left were overwhelmed by not having backup.
Fix the hospitals that you have, but personal that wants to help you,employ the many doctors and nurses that has to sit at home because you took away their opportunity to work away with your comrades that were only their to break the infrastructure and let the very community they had to serve down with poor service ,and poor treatment. This is a great mistake . How are the people at the rural areas access this?. They will still be subjected to the understaffed and undersupplied clinics. Referals will be needed since people will not be allowed to choose where to go. Where will the funds be found to mantain this NHI ? THIS will be a desaster.

What does apartheid have to do with health care
Not to say nhi is a good thing but to think apartheid has nothing to do with health care is as foolish as the nhi bill
1. Increased poverty related disease among black people due to congestion (townships) and lack sanitation.
2. Much higher maternal, infant and child mortality due to limited access to, and quality to health care.
3. The Doctor/Patient ratio for black areas was 1 to every 15 000. While it was 1 to every 1 700 in White areas.
4. By 1994, 65% of South African doctors worked in the private sector. Making it even more difficult for the majority black majority poor population to access health-care.
5. Limited health care infrastructure for black dominated area, the built a hospital to serve 20 000 White people, but built a clinic to serve 50 000 black people.
Should I go on? The Apartheid system you defend today had far a reaching impact than y'all realize. You only want to blame other people but you never self introspect. You don't want to acknowledge the damage your people have done, you don't want to answer for it. But it's okay, the time is nigh, you won't answer to us but you will definitely answer to the Most High.
