As a mom of a sophomore girl I can tell you the most important thing is COMFORT. Make sure your bed is as comfortable and soft/ welcoming as you can make it. You need at least a 3” mattress topper. You might want to think about getting one from Amazon rather than Target or Walmart. Price DOES equal quality with those. You need a soft sheet set, and also a super comfy throw blanket. Whatever you need to be really comfortable showering, changing, doing laundry, studying, sleeping, and hanging out. A lot of girls focus on decor and forget about all the other essentials, but it sounds like you’re well on your way with having the items that you will actually use. You can always order decor to be sent directly to you later. You need to put together a shoe box sized bin full of medicines. All the items you will need when you get sick. (Hint; you WILL get sick)- so cold meds, thermometer, boxes of tissues, pepto chewables and tums, bandaids, neosproin (I saw you have the fist aid kit)- but you want stuff for nausea and cold/flu symptoms. The Lysol wipes and spray are essential to keep with you in your room. For moving day; yes you will need the stick vac, the Lysol wipes, door stops, and consider bringing a hand truck, or collapsible wagons. We bought two collapsible wagons from Amazon that can hold 200lbs each. They fold flat and you can store them in your closet, under your bed, or in the trunk of a car. They’re awesome. (I’ll link them below) You might get help from the school moving in on move in day, and they may also have rolling bins to help-BUT, you won’t have any help at all on moving out , or if you need to bring other items in later (like storage bins or a microwave. ) also; you will need snacks and a cooler of water bottles for you and your helpers on move in day. You will use a mini fridge, microwave, and single use coffee maker or electric kettle in your room. And you can also have a dash mini rice maker. You can’t use candles, but you CAN do plug in air fresheners and shoe freshener balls. Consider getting these! Your room will have a funky stink to it after a while. Also! Dorm water is notoriously gross. Get a Brita or case of water bottles. You can also use a stainless steel water bottle. I know it’s a lot, but have a great year! ❤
Wow thank you for all of your help! I do have a brita and medicine bucket that I forgot to show lol. I know there’s definitely things I will realize that I need last minute but thankfully I have a target near campus! Good luck to your daughter this year 😁
Oh fun I move in 2 days before you! My family is going on a last minute target run once we’re on campus if that’s a helpful idea! Good luck to you as well 😊
