SHRIMAT PARIJNANASHRAM HAND-MADE PAPER PROJECT
Samvit Sudha was started to help underprivileged rural women in and around Chitrapur to develop skills in creating embroidered fabric products and augment their family income. In December 2011, Samvit Sudha expanded its scope by launching Shrimat Parijnanashram Hand-Made Paper Project (HMPP), another initiative of Parijnan Foundation to empower rural women. Both the main manufacturing unit and the paper conversion unit are entirely run by women who are trained by a dedicated team of volunteers.
One can visit the manufacturing unit situated at Kembre to see the entire process of making eco-friendly hand-made paper from cotton rags. The paper sheets are cut and decorated with block-printing or screen-printing at the conversion unit.
This paper is either sold in sheet form or in the varied forms of attractive products like gift-wrappers, bags, envelopes, boxes, diaries, writing pads, and customised products for corporate gifting. The products are available at exclusive outlets of Parijnan Foundation® hubs at Bengaluru, New Delhi, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune, Shirali and Karla.
Shri Chitrapur Math has been committed to promoting and supporting education, women’s empowerment, sound health and the general well-being of Society. A number of social initiatives have been successfully running under the Math’s affiliated institutions for the benefit of residents of Chitrapur and surrounding villages.
His Holiness Shrimat Sadyojat Shankarashram Swamiji’s love for Sanskrit and His emphasis on learning the Devabhasha is also well-known. As desired by Swamiji, a unique presentation to give an introduction to the Math and its projects in Sanskrit language was planned.
In this series ‘Mama Gramah Chitrapurah’ a Sadhikaa, who visits the Shri Chitrapur Math and the places around it, will enlighten you about the various development schemes and projects initiated by Parama Pujya Swamiji for the welfare of the community at large.
