Jon was voiced by Sandy Kenyon in the first Garfield special. Then Thom Huge took over as the voice of Jon for all the rest of the Garfield specials and the "Garfield and Friends" series. The CGI Jon now is voiced by Wally Wingert.
Actually, Thom Huge played Jon for a bit of Mendelson/Melendez animation for the TV special _The Fantastic Funnies._ In that, Garfield was played by Scott Beach and he had his original overweight appearance from the beginning of the strip.
Lorenzo Music had passed away long before even the live-action Garfield movies came out. The CGI version of the cat is now voiced by Frank Welker. The only actor that has always appeared in everything related to Garfield is Gregg Berger as Odie.
This special was the first of the network's "Garfield franchise"- by the time the last prime-time special aired in 1991 {"Garfield Gets a Life'}, he was already starring in a weekly CBS Saturday morning series, "GARFIELD AND FRIENDS", and would have continued indefinitely if new management hadn't decided to do away with all prime-time animated specials except their venerable "Peanuts franchise"....
Garfield is coming back to TV next week. It's called the Garfield Show. It's a CGI cartoon on Cartoon Network. I think it will be airing at 10:30 AM EDT/9:30 AM CDT.

Did you know that in 1982 CBS did not show “A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving”, along with 1983, and 1988. After, Disney Channel and Nickelodeon aired it during the 1990s.
It airs weekday mornings at 10:30 AM EST/9:30 AM CST & weekday afternoons at 3PM EST/2PM CST on Cartoon Network. The animation is kinda like Jimmy Neutron. In a Halloween episode, people mistook him for Catzilla. In another episode, he, Odie, & Jon had a pet turkey that drove them crazy. I also get Garfield comics daily in my E-mail.
But Guys, If it is showing Garfield and Friends on CBS (USA) & Nickelodeon (UK), I Hope they would posting all full episodes from Garfield and Friends on Paramount+ 😔
wow before Garfield was ever really known on TV he was just that "funny cat from the funny pages." lol
This was a good special, by the way.
I know what chatter box

Lorenzo Music was then Carlton the Doorman in "RHODA" in the 70s, just long before he voiced Garfield.

I think the voice on the Gain Detergent commercials sounds like Lorenzo Music!

This is one of the funniest promo's i've seen.
It looks like that Garfield only has one channel

But it will never be as good as the specials and "Garfield and Friends".
I think that the live-action Garfield movie is loosely based on "Here Comes Garfield".
It is. The whole 'rescuing Odie' plot.

In an old video containing Here Comes Garfield and Garfield on the Town, the Here Comes Garfield portion was recorded on October 12, 1988

Easily Amused Bastad
Yeah...0_0
I bet the voice actor was gonna say that word but didn't let his intrusive thoughts win
I loved this! I love saying Big Fat Hairy deal!
Imagine if the recording cut off just as Garfield said the “D” in “deal.”
OMG, that made my day! XD
Now "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" is shown on ABC nowadays, not CBS.
