    Colombian here.
    Nice video man. You really got to experiece and show to everyone the two sides of the coin here.
    Although I'm more impressed you had the courage to go around with the camera on your own. It's very common for thiefs there to pass by on motorcycles and grab phones or whatever and then left at top speed.

    We just returned from there yesterday..... we stayed on the "beach" side of things where the usual "bus" tourist traps were but was a enjoyable trip. it gave me a "Little Miami" vibe.

      Bocagrande definitely feels like Mid Beach in Miami Beach. I was there last week because the round trip was 40 bucks and I definitely needed a beach day…
      Did they try to sell you the world when you were out on the beach?

    Bazurto is not very dangerous in itself, I've already been there several times when i was in Cartagena to eat and I've walked around without any worries and the advantage is that there are always people around us so it's good.

  • @elvdell5582
    @elvdell5582 2 года назад +3

    The Bazurto is definitely a place you can get lost in. It's like a maze when you get into those nooks and crannies. You can really get good local prices there. I've never felt unsafe there its just that you won't be surrounded by tourists or foreigners for that matter. Not able to find fried fish????? My eyes are ogling out of my head right now LOL...... It's everywhere. I'm sure you saw it right after you stopped looking for it hehehehe. I think there is a tour that will take you there but you can totally go on your own if you can navigate Spanish fairly well. BASEMENT parties...... You took it back. Good video. Cartagena is my most favored city in Colombia. It sometimes gets a bad wrap because of its heat but man I live for that. The heat, the beach, the coastal vibes.... home. Colombiano en mi corazon.

      Everything you said was 100% facts… I did find a spot on the way out but it was way too dark to film in… Bazurto is 100% safe in the daytime…. I felt safer here than Bocagrande and old city. But then a market woman told me it can get dangerous for foreigners at night (Hence my clickbait-ish title lol)
      Welcome again! & shutout to the basement parties of back in the day 🤣.

      It’s kind of safe in the city centre and the old historic city the government made sure they bombarded this two places with police as it attracts a lot of tourism but it’s still quit unsafe in terms that you could get robbed at night it’s very unsafe if you go the wrong way around the historic city and the city centre but never step outside does two areas as you will be stepping into the real Cartagena which is where the people of Cartagena live and This neighbourhoods or just the normal life and city’s outside of them tourist areas are extremely dangerous and poor it probably has a homocide rate of 60 to 70 per 100,0000 way way higher then Miami or the whole USA combined I was incredibly surprised by Keenan walking around the old market like that with his camera out and stuff i was born in Colombia but had the blessing to move countries n seeing him doing surprised as I wouldn’t even walk there by myself as a gringonegro tourist but good that he spoke Spanish before he spoke English and that your where negro as they probably think your just another cartagenero but keenan you need to be careful more bro don’t ever go to any city in South America to any part that is not a tourist area by urself or at night because there’s a reason it’s the most violent region in the world bro most people think that the area that the tourist go is how everyone in city live but it’s far from it just given Heads up

    The real Cartagena, the Cartagena outside the tourist areas and maybe four rich neighborhoods, ranges from filthy, run-down underdevelopment to uber-filthy third-world shithole. And that's not counting the _invasiones_ or illegal land-grab settlements, where even the police don't dare enter. I have not encountered so many megatons of trash and building refuse (chunks of brick, cement, sidewalk, wall, roof, etc.) scattered about everywhere as in Cartagena. It's in a league of its own! The people outside the tourist areas are absolutely great, though! Nothing at all like the thousands of scammers and pushers who roam the walled city!

    #1 goal should be not to get robbed & killed, #2 goal not to get ran over. Side note * those are not the Most dangerous street of Columbia as the title says. That's still close to the tourist areas, go to Bogota slums & walk around with your phone on a selfie stick, you WILL get robbed in a blink.

    • @KeenanLambert198
      @KeenanLambert198  2 года назад +4

      Chanel,
      I would like to start off by indicating how much I really appreciate the sentiment behind this question. Apologies if the title triggered you negatively (My ex-girlfriend, who is Dominican, called me to question the title of this video).... I don't know to what degree you are familiar with my channel, however, I continously seek to show the reality of people in countries English speakers only see as "destinations'. In the long term, I want my viewers to be stripped of the prejudices society has provided them with.
      As a Small RUclips creator, who is intentionally not objectifying black and brown women as a hook for viewers, I recognize the need to sensationalize titles to pull in viewers. I'm actually using people's prejudices as a hook, and showing a positive, culture filled, relatable experience.... I hope you respond with your thoughts.... Bless up
