What glorious views! I'm not afraid of heights, but I am afraid of falling, so I prefer my hikes to be a little flatter in elevation. I've been to Algonquin Park in Ontario for a ten day portage in which we covered almost 90 miles of lakes and trails. One of the best trips in my life!
    My favorite bear story:
There was a novice group of hikers guided by an old Native American. The subject of bears came up and the group was discussing different methods of preventing bear attacks. One novice hiker mentioned they had read that noise can deter bear contact so it is good to wear little bells on your clothing to ward them off. Another novice hiker said they had brought along pepper spray to ward off a bear attack. As they continued their hike they came across a pile of animal droppings, so they asked the guide if might be from a bear. The old Native American got down on his knees and looked at the pile, gave it a whiff, and said, no, not from a bear. The group asked him how he knew. The old guide said, "bear scat has little bells, and smells like pepper."

I hate to be the one to be the bearer of bad news, but that wasn't a day hike. That was an attempt on your life by your so-called "friends". They knew you'd be busy filming, wouldn't have poles, and so they took you on sketchy as hell paths hoping you'd fall. I bet they also kept yelling shit to startle you when you were near the edges. Glad you made it!
