The nostalgia brings tears to my eyes. My mom even taped this show so we could watch it after work/school. The ending credits always made me sad because an hour just wasn't enough time to visit Springfield each day and I hated the weekends, lol I loved this theme so much I taught myself to play it by ear on my keyboard as a teen. My mom passed in 2005, before the show got really bad thankfully, but I'll always have the feelings and memories

Despite killing off Maureen Bauer, Jill Farren Phelps's tenure on Guiding Light was mostly a good one IMO. And she's even gone on record several times saying she regretted killing her off.
I love this Guiding Light closing theme 1990-2002, it came out January 1991.This is the best GL closing theme ever, the longer version of this Old School Joint.I saw this show back in kindergarden when I was 5 & 6 years old.This is a good song to use in a wedding march for the bridesmaids & groomsmen.

The real credits alternated between a yellow-gold colored font and white font (crew title in yellow gold color and person's name in white; character name in yellow-gold color and actor's real name in white)...Also at the start of the credit scroll as the title faded out the first credit would fade in at the center of the screen and scroll halfway up...In this scroll, the first credit scrolls from the bottom...However this is a good recreation.
Even though Jill Farren Phelps did a stupid thing and killed off Maureen Bauer, I would still prefer her as Executive Producer than Paul Rauch. Paul Rauch hurt Guiding Light more than Jill Farren Phelps

This can't be from 1993. The legendary Beverlee McKinsey vacated the role of Alexandra Spaulding in the Summer of 1992. Marj Dusay took over in 1993, around the time of David's (Monti Sharp) murder trial.

I never liked a "frozen" background. I preferred the "GOLDEN GALAXY" background they used from 1981-1986. It moved and turned as the credits rolled.

Yeah, you're not alone. Lot of us hate them. Likewise over on TPIR (also part of CBS Daytime), the split screen credits mean you don't get to see the Showcase winners for very long.

it was Rob Mounsey, who composed the theme music for GL for the 1991-2002 timespan.
One of the stations that I know puts Guiding Light on before TPIR is WCBS-TV New York. Guiding Light comes on at 10 AM, followed by TPIR at 11 AM.
I'll never forget the day I turned to CBS a couple minutes early for TPIR...

In Virginia the show would be on after most kids got out of school. Texas as well as the east coast was a whole different story.
