Another fact: Getting a job there is incredibly difficult( LIKE ACTUALLY ) For context: Even if you have an actual degree, there is still a chance you wont get the job ( it all comes down on the quality of the grades ) The reason? Well its quite simple The government makes it so that a lot of stuff there are affordable there ( no taxes ), which means that majority will have the funds to go get scholarships and get higher paying jobs. Although it is pretty nice, this means that less people have interests in taking in the normal jobs in the area ( yknow, like barbers, repair shops and other facilities ). To combat this, the government started accepting foreign workers to fill in the gaps. Not only does this solve the problem, but it allows the ties between these foreign countries to strengthen. HOWEVER, as the population is growing AND foreign schools get more selective, a rising number of people are now reconsidering to find jobs in the country. This then leads to another problem, where the people applying for jobs now have to compete against both local and foreign applicants, which leads to the country having one of the highest unemployment rates. Trust me, to even have a chance to get a job, you literally need to get some pretty good results from your exams ( like the O- Level exams ). To be fair, the government was just doing what it can for the country, but they inevitably just caused one of the biggest issues in the country. Oh yeah, just to be clear, all of this is just from my perspective as a local living in this country for literally all my life. ( im about to sit for my A- level exams on October so wish me luck )
Been here for 4 months now. I like it here, very quiet and peaceful. Love the surroundings here, a lot of trees, and the smell of fresh air. People here are very nice and patient. It' has a low cost of living. You can be bored maybe, but as a guy like me that grew in the wildest city of the Philippines, I don't miss my wild lifestyle, been drunk more than half of my life, so now can relax and exercise here. Then party hard again everyday when I go back to the Philippines. Life is not all about fun and party, sometimes we need ro chill and relax coz our body needs it also, and I can say Brunei is one of the countries that's fit for that.

I went there for a friend's bday shits fun lost track of time. But expensive asf but it's nice and cute. The schools there are so expensive💀 had to pay 200to get in and boarding is shit man a day is over 100dollars like what.
Working in the oil field in Brunei for an outsider is a fortune. And Brunei is a very very famous among them. Because Brunei is a safe country for its people, outsider and foreigns.
I been there, this is my honest opinion, in Brunei weather usually hot like daily is 28°c to 30°c. In Friday all shop closest at 12pm to 2pm even non-muslim restaurants must be closed for Muslim Friday prayer it's sultan's order. The only amusement park there is the Jerudong park but seems like most of the equipment kinda not working there. Brunei has many open sewage anywhere I go it smelled like..you know. What I really like about Brunei is you don't have to be worried about crimes you are safe except you may encounter some rude and noisy person usually groups of teenager, I got bad experience with that like I encounter these groups of teenagers in Brunei and they staring at me screaming and laughing. Transportation is also a problems bus and taxi is rarely passing by like sometimes nothing. The picture of the palace in this video is actually Sultan Omar Ali mosque.
problem with people is like a worldwide common knowledge. Everywhere we go, not everyone's gonna be nice. Well i used to experience where a BIG group of old dudes and youngsters were rude to my dad's friend, he's bangladesh, back when i visited Malaysia - a wet market and i was 15. Sad thing is that he doesn't know they're mocking him bcs he doesn't understand their language ☹️

Me being Bruneian - it's developed?😂 Guys don't keep you hopes high, treat it like a place where u can visit when u retire. Many of the foreign visitors come here in hopes of an adventurous or amazing experience, well almost all the shop closed at 9pm, public transport is a no no and don't drink the tap water 😊 But otherwise it's a beautiful island💜
It is considered developed as most houses have electricity & clean water. The bills and insurance are still cheap af & subsidies on almost every basic necessity; gas, education, medical service, medication, sugar, rice, etc. Hard to see it if you don't take outside perspectives. Try living somewhere different from Brunei/Malay countries & you could see how incredibly well off Bruneian's General Welfare is :) & I mean living, not vacation* ☝️

Yea because buses and taxis are almost none existent since we have our own vehicles.Even if you're poor you still have a chance of owning a car yourself. And we recently have a taxis nowadays called "Grab".The buses however are usually foreigners who work in Brunei.
Transportation is too cheap here, I mean it. Road tax & insurance are very affordable that it's more efficient to own cars instead of depending on the public transport. That's why development on public transport is too slow here, it's due to lack of demand. Sorry for your experience tho

They supposedly made a remark that his palace at that time was just like every palace they had seen. He allegedly tore down that palace and built the current palace that stands there today. When the two mag writers came back, the Sultan was supposed to have shown the incredibly splendid new edifice to them and remarked, "Is this better?" And supposedly, because he was so wealthy, to him it was just like changing clothes.
In the 1970s, The Sultan of Brunei was listed as the richest person in the world. His name was taken off the list. Not because he became poor. Magazines just quit reporting about him. Brunei, Taiwan, Vietnam , The Phillipines and China all lay claim to The South China Sea. The Spratly Islands and Atolls have a significant amount of oil. Geologists have known about this oil since at least the late 1930s. The technology to efficiently extract it had not been developed yet.

If Saudi Arabia had trees, it would look like this place. It was painful to experience; the place was practically soulless and I am glad my stay ended in three days.

The amusement jerudong Park is 90% closed and most of the equipment got sold, so its no longer the biggest park in SEA. Also development index is very misleading. Theres a lot of backward infrastructure in brunei that is abandoned and outright destroyed. The gdp is boosted by sultans wealth. But 55% of bruneians actually live below 1000 dollar wage per month. Coupled this with the rising cost of living and inflation, no wonder u see an increase rate of petty crimes and robbery all over brunei

It's hilarious how the westerners think that just because we are "Religious" and not secular we are labelled as "Dictatorship" or "Oppressive".If it is our land it is our right to implement Sharia Law and be able to practice our religion.And you can clearly see that even they realise that if we are staying with our Faith we are not as easily to be influenced or secularized. Just look at the Ottoman Empire,the Westerners could not defeat them with strength but they used human "Dogs" (Hypocrites) to weaken the Empire and eventually become more Secularized and further from religion. Public transportation is a bit hard there as they dont relying on it. They own several cars in a family so why need the transport?

The amusement jerudong Park is 90% closed and most of the equipment got sold, so its no longer the biggest park in SEA. Also development index is very misleading. Theres a lot of backward infrastructure in brunei that is abandoned and outright destroyed. The gdp is boosted by sultans wealth. But 55% of bruneians actually live below 1000 dollar wage per month. Coupled this with the rising cost of living and inflation, no wonder u see an increase rate of petty crimes and robbery all over brunei

It's not a dictatorship,our Ideology just don't align with the westerners and your comment clearly reflects it.
And it is Religion which protects us under a "Dome".Because there is an interview which discusses among the three main religions and which is most easy to influence and the hardest to influence are Muslims.
And you can see it in the Islamic history where it is because of Religion that the Muslims were brave enough to fight off the colonizer like Abdulkader of Algeria,Omar Al-Mukhtar of Libya and many-many more prominent Muslims who rose to defend their faith and Country
It's hilarious how the westerners think that just because we are "Religious" and not secular we are labelled as "Dictatorship" or "Oppressive".If it is our land it is our right to implement Sharia Law and be able to practice our religion.And you can clearly see that even they realise that if we are staying with our Faith we are not as easily to be influenced or secularized.
Just look at the Ottoman Empire,the Westerners could not defeat them with strength but they used human "Dogs" (Hypocrites) to weaken the Empire and eventually become more Secularized and further from religion.
Until now you can see young Muslim turks being far away from Islam and being more inclined towards western ideas.And I also come to conclude that if the younger Muslim generation knows about Islam and the History of Islam they will be protected under the so called "Dome" as mentioned in the previous interview
