    It's the middle of winter where I am, my birds live outside in a big cage on the deck so they never get wet (unless they bathe) but they get the wind and it's only light for 8 hours at the moment and cold. They are both showing the signs and now I found an egg in their nest. The nest is obviously fairly warm being thick wood and not getting wet so will they be ok as their is no turning back now.

      I'm not any expert, but I think you can buy another cage and put a female and male in there and for the other (shy one) you can buy a smaller cage and put the shy one and female in and I think that solves the problem. Sorry if you don't understand, reply to me what you don't understand.ill answer soon ^-^

    • @user-sv4xe5yd3l
      @user-sv4xe5yd3l 4 года назад +2

      Mark Ghaly: You can breed your parakeets twice a year, any month will be okay! 😊. However in the wild typically they mate during rainy seasons (which is rn in the USA) so to encourage breeding keep your house warm and spray them with a cold mist to encourage it! Place a box, cuttle bone, and finally a mineral block! (TIP: remove any toys in the cage as it will keep the pair rather distracted from each other) finally give them time to acclamate to each other so they will be bonded... good luck 😉 🍀

    also i have a violet female budgie whose cere is white what to do?

    • @BudgieWorld
      @BudgieWorld  3 года назад

      Yes. The brown color on the cere is due to hormones and not melanin, so albinos also show brown cere

    • @zaidsayyed8917
      @zaidsayyed8917 3 года назад

      @@BudgieWorld as you said in the video if the female gets intrested in the nest itself it means that she is ready for breeding stuff but her cere is still white so i'll have to wait for the cere to turn into brown right? also i can assume that they are a little young at this point but the way she interacts with the nest confuses me... I hope you get the point what i am trying to say...

      That just means that she finally decided to *REJECT* the male bird....
      for whatever reason(s) that only *she* knows.
      Possibly could have been because he was just too young/old/unhealthy to make her a good *lifetime* mate and partner
      (bc budgies bond for *life* once they've chosen to be bonded to each other)...
      and/or he didn't provide enough food for her & the chicks...
      so she decided that she just didn't need/want him anymore and wanted to find another *better* mate eventually.
      Could have been just because he was the *only* male mate option that was ever provided to her so that she could *CHOOSE* her potential mate to bond with for herself......
      so she basically ended up being *FORCED* to accept him as the only male in her space to be able to mate with,
      instead of actually getting to *CHOOSE* him as a bonded mate for herself.
      Thus, once she already had her
      eggs/chicks from him.....
      she decided that she no longer needed or wanted him.
      OR
      It could have been a dozen other more valid reasons (to her) that she eventually chose to reject him.
      It just happens sometimes--
      especially when one or the other bird was never given a chance to have several other *different* potential mate options to choose from for themselves which one they actually *WANTED* to form a lifetime bond with
      and was basically forced to just *settle* for and accept
      (for the time being)
      the
      *ONLY*
      bird
      of the opposite sex that was ever put in their space with them....
      to satisfy their natural instinct to mate with.
