So disappointing. I was waiting for this match all day and when it happened never expected for him to quit especially so early on. I felt the disappointment in Jiri’s face, he wanted to win fair and square…. Knew that Opelka had wrist issues but he said they were fine the last match. The back issues were a huge surprise 😮
May be these tournaments a week before AO is not worthy to participate. Missing out to play AO would cost more than winning this tournament. Glad Sinner and Alcaraz chose not to participate.
How can you be sure? It is never the end until you lose. The previous match, he had a wrist strain against Perricard. I believe retiring was due to injury rather than giving up.
I might be seeing things.. but it looks like he can't push off leg? When drop shop there he went to start.. but it looked clunky n then limped for a bit? Or maybe he just didn't seeping of going in? But with no cuts, it seems that movement was causing major issue, cos straight after he retired.
@@rapiertrash9890 I swear nobody listens to the broadcast 😂😂😂…he didn’t retire because of his wrist he said it was due to his back which no one really knew about
Whatever happen..i am in love with Reilly Opelka performances. He played his heart out throughout the tournament. Best of luck to him🎉

I was hoping Opelka would continue to play well after beating Djoker and win the tournament. Once again, big guys when they fall, they fall hard.
it was seen Opelka had injury in semifinal. Hope on his close recovery and good luck!
That was his wrist he said he was fine to play final, he retired here because of back issues which no one really knew about… a shock really 😮
He was fighting a back issue throughout the tournament. He played amazing this week & unfortunately his body didn’t hold up.
apparently reilly did not fully recover after his match against mpetshi perricard
Probaly he would not play the Australien Open what a shame
He wasn't ready physically for this boost that's the big truth
It wasn’t his wrist that made him retire he said he has back issues here that made him retire… nobody knew about this

The stadium was packed, they lose the money! What a disappointment including my self!!
So nice for those who bought tickets. Refunded?
Maybe. But not sure
Though the same but Reilly has been out for two years with this injury and he did the maths
No the doubles match was to be played on the same court. I’m guessing people stuck around for that match.
@@18yearsoldnot it’s not the same injury, that was his wrist, he literally said he retired the match because of his back
Slow courts are causing more pressure on body of players . It must change
Slow courts? Are you joking? Unsustainable playstyles cause injuries. "Slow courts" what a joke.
So he went all in vs. Djokovic, re-injured himself only to give-up in the Final vs. a nobody. 😂😂😂
Lachecka won 2 matches with withdrawal what a way
Djokers shots and power broke this mans wrist 😅
Bravo for Lehecka for showing sportmanship during celebration
too tired after playing with djokovic, need got more time rest?
If a finalist retires that early they should have the semi final loser play
Why 'shocking'?
It was a shame, imagine paying 200 dollars for a final and not being able to see it, WHAT A GREAT SHAME!!!!!
opelka was mentally broken that his service game was broken. Neither of his 2 previous opponents managed it.

Machac had unmanageable cramps
Opelka had wrist issues since the semis
Opelka should have walkthroughed at that point tbh
