2019 Porsche Macan S Review // New Engine and Perfect Interior

- For 2019 Porsche has updated the Macan to include new LED headlamps, front grille and available 21-inch wheels. The most noticeable change is the rear light-bar that covers the rear tailgate. The interior gets a larger 10,9-inch screen integrated into a the existing dash, making it the perfect combination of updated technology with existing design that might just be better than the glass panel used in the Cayenne. Powering the Macan is a 2.0L turbo 4-cylinder with 248hp. The Macan S gets a new 3.0L V6 used across the Volkswagen Group with 348hp, more than the last engine.

Hey, if the Audi engine is reliable, than great. Audi, Porsche and VW are all siblings, so that is understandable. It’s not like there is a Honda engine in the Macan.

I like the new center screen, the light bar looks nice but unfortunately is used by so many other SUV’s now, but will miss the old Porsche 3.0 engine that really takes nicely to an ECU tune.
What a beautiful place to visit, ... anyone who’s been says so. I’ve only been close (Labrador). I’ve read that there is close to 100,ooo Moose on “The Rock”! You are very lucky to have the opportunity to visit there (again?). I agree with you on this Porsche It’s a great looking little number. However... that’s it. It’s just too ‘little’. I wouldn’t even consider a test drive in one. Great if your $35 grand CRV/RAV4 just isn’t sporty enough for you. The price is perfect for considering this as an option. Stunning car. If I was going to spend big dollars on a color, it would be Carmine Red and not the Miami Blue. Or save a few thousand and get Mamba Green Metallic-that might be my favorite.
So this is basically a more expensive version of the SQ5. Same platform, same engine. Both good cars, this of course has the brand name and better driving dynamics. Still, tough choice and a really really nice car! Love the Macan, shame there’s no V6 diesel anymore
Not the same. SQ5 is front wheel biased. Macao is rear wheel biased. The platforms are different.
brett run ... the SQ5 and the Macan S have the old and true Quattro awd system... so the rear wheels are pushing a bit more than the front wheels.
@@brettrun8575 The S4 is rear biased. I get 85% of the power going to the rear wheels on hard acceleration and there is a sport diff. My tuned S4 is much faster than any model of Macan and my 9114S. It sometimes will spin just the rear wheels.

videopyc wrong. The Audi SQ5 has a different setup than the Macan and is not rear biased.

Hello, I need to decide between the Macan S and the X3 M40I:Which one is better for responsiveness and short lag time? If I get the Macan S, it will be without the sport chrono package.Which of these two cars is able to respond better when you need to do a quick acceleration from low speed? (For example, if you are at stop sign and you need to take off very quickly, or if you are entering a highway and you need to raise your speed very quickly, or when you need to do a quick takeover manoeuvre.) Thanks
Yes nice update all around but it’s a shame it lacks space efficiency because even though it’s not a big SUV it really should have more interior space.

Love the vehicle. Not a fan of the light bar. It looked more unique and Porsche-like in the previous version. Every manufacturer will have the light bar. There are already many with it.
I didn't hear him say it, perhaps I missed it but he was in and around Gros Morne National Park on Newfoundland's west coast. I love that the car companys are showing their wares here. We like to see the fancy ones like the Macan rolling down the roads. :)

So happy I got the 2018 GTS before the rear light bar and them moving the front white light bars lower on the fascia. Yes better screen, but who uses the screen when driving anyway, it's all about the thrill of the drive!

I'm renting a Macan Turbo this weekend, and I couldn't agree more. I'm too busy enjoying the car to be messing with the infotainment much at all. It's a surprisingly fun car. Like you said, sure a better screen would be nice, but I don't think it'd make the refresh out and out better.

PASM yes. With front parking sensors you can get by without around view camera. I have it and like it but I could live without.

PASM is available on the Macan in Europe with or without Air suspension

I'd take a huracan instead😂 I'd like a 6 cylinder 718 boxster with manual non turbo doesn't have to be the 4.0 spyder engine which probably comes with a rattling single mass flywheel (already have one in my car, sounds awful bless it) But does have electric roof and is obtainable brand new without being picked by porsche. Or Cayman, 4.0 is fine or 3.7, 3.2 wt eve jus no turbo. Spyder looks 💯 tho and gt4 prefer it to my dad's 912 4s he just got.

Got my 53k list TiSport for 46k. Even with quad wheels & tires, full EC tune, intake exhaust etc I am only at 50k for 390hp/443tq. Not remotely worried about a Macan unless its a pro driver....best SUV I have ever driven. Pure joy to push hard.

The interior of the Macan is much nicer than the Audi, plus you get better driving dynamics. If you have the money the Macan is worth the premium imo.
PLAY_HRD ... Audi SQ5 virtual cockpit display is unique and better than Porsche. But the new Macan S has an awesome 10 inches touchscreen. The Macan S ventilated leathers seats are more cushy on the Macan. There is a significant price gap between the Audi and Porsche version. The steering wheel is smaller on the Macan S. You get also a broad choice of unique colors from Porsche palette. The Porsche wheels are more masculine. i picked the SQ5 because the Audi dealer is 15 minutes from my home. While Porsche dealer is 1-1/2 hours. Exclusivity as its limits.
Macan is a better sports car than the cayenne
Porsche Macan...possibly the perfect everyday car. I used to think that the almost perfect car would be a Golf GTI...or a 3 series...but this car can do what the GTI or 3 series can...but it can also do what those two can't: off road...so yeah. All things for all men. Not if you want a 7 seater though.

Full-width taillights are so played-out; they're on everything and anything nowadays and show a lack of imagination. Porsche North America, get rid of the cliché light bar and just give me amber rear indicator lights!

Drive the Porsche Macan and Audi SQ5 back to back, they are noticeably different, interior and driving dynamics both improved in the Porsche.
i am the owner a SQ5... and i noticed that the Macan S is different in so many aspects. You do not get the same driving experience. The Macan S is also way more expensive than the Audi. Porsche is unique.
