For 20 yrs now I’ve enjoyed a leather steering wheel, but 5 yrs ago when we started driving the Alcantera in our 997.2 GT3, it changes our minds. My wife & I love it. …. Different strokes!
@@PorscheClubofAmerica very true. But it is a synthetic (polyester and polyamide) not a natural cow hide type suede) and there are also some good methods to clean & restore. Covering those might also be a good segment on your channel?!!
Great video!! Thanks for putting this together. I really enjoyed the content and the history of the GT2. More turbo and blow off sounds next time, please! 😀 I hope to add one next to my GT3 one day! 😀
he was a respectful 9 out of 10 test driver considering this car is a GT2 with it's high value, as i'm an owner of a black techart 9972 4wd.turbo with similar power range 5-550hp. but he could have easily given it 5500rpm in more than just one gear, this would have been fine even with the owner. his 8.5 fun factor score i thought was a little light as they are definitely a 9 being a 6sp.manual & not the pdk. However i give him big Kudos for the respect shown while in the car, as i have experienced warrant of fitness road testing of my car at a very lenghty 15 mins on one occasion way over the 5-6minutes needed as they do in nz..happy porsching.😎
You made this car unhappy by not driving it just a little more spirited-ly. It wanted to be unleashed. The great thing is that it can be civilized and a warrior when you needed to be.
its crazy to sit at a redlight in a GT2 with the clutch pressed in in first gear. Your throw out bearing will be toast soon! No Go. (even says the clutch is stiff but continues to keep it pressed) ugh. as a Porsche mechanic Im saying just dont sit there when stopped and continue to keep the clutch pedal pressed for such a long time. Your clutch and throw out bearing will thank you..
Too bad there aren't many Porsche owners, otherwise this channel would have 1 million subs easy
Always appreciate your support!

I (Vu) love the feel of Alcantara but the material doesn't seem to wear well.

Alcantara still the best for steering wheels 👍🏼
no mention of mezger engine??
Amazing video. Thank you. Compare GT2 with GT3, GT2 seems more livable
Thanks for watching. Both are livable, the GT2 is a bit more comfortable.
We love Porsches and this video was great!
Thanks for watching!
It's a total hammer of a car. One of a kind
Indeed!
What a wonderful car. Keep the great reviews coming..
Thanks for watching!
Totally agree Vu. Can’t stand carbon fibre or alcantara on steering wheels.
You get me!

997 GTs have heavy clutches.
Thanks for the info!
Too bad. Glad they figured it out in the newer GT’s
@@MW-uy3np stiff clutch is no reason to avoid old cars. Your leg grows stronger and you don’t notice it if you drive it regularly.
@@joeracer302 I’ve had one. Heavy is all relative of course. I prefer my 991.2 gt3 touring clutch

Come to Austin, Texas Vu! We have the fastest highways in America at 85 mph on our toll 45 roads. ;-).
Nice!
Great Gt2, and you didn't mention the most important optional for U.S. people.
The cup holder....
Thanks for sharing!
I would be suprised if its not gonna be a 500K Car within 5 years
You made this car unhappy by not driving it just a little more spirited-ly. It wanted to be unleashed. The great thing is that it can be civilized and a warrior when you needed to be.
It did, we just didn't have the opportunity to open it up on the roads available to us.

Too many GT cars with minimal mileage. They’re meant to be driven not displayed
Now you’re talking! Porsche on steroid content 👌🏾
Thanks for watching!
Lol you have the same issue my wife has: You think people don't notice you in a 911.
LOL
Says braking power is strong slowing down from 25 mph in suburbia 😂
Too bad you only got to drive it on the straightest most boring roads while in traffic.
Yes, unfortunate, but better than not driving one at all.
Just wasting the miles on that highway….
Unfortunately those were the only roads available to us. Better than not driving it.
If you cant drive dont review cars . You accelerate through things not let off when it gets squarely
LOL
I'd not use a GT2 as road trip car, think of the rock chips it collects on long road trips. Yikes!!
PPF and drive on!
If one has $$$$$$ for a GT2, PPF is a trivial cost to protect one's investment.
Nhtsa mandated all 2008 model year vehicles in USA had to have traction control
Thanks for the factoid!
