Drafting Pennix was a great move. Why? Kirk Cousins is not taking the Falcons to the NFC championship game. He has won one playoff game in 12 years. He is a bridge QB. The next draft doesn't have many good QBs and the Falcons won't have a high enough pick to get a QB. The Falcons GM was doing strategic long-term planning. Cam is focused on the next season.
You don’t sign a Bridge QB to 4 years, $100 million guaranteed. Gardner Minshew is a bridge, Russ contract is a bridge. They could’ve easily signed those guys and got Penix
if drafting penix was a great move then signing cousins for that price at that time was a hell of a dumb move. it's one or the other you don't got both.

Normally, I don't comment twice on a subject...but for those that like the pick are clueless... don't get me wrong, I like Penix...but that was a straight mismanagement move... no one was gunning for Penix like that... wasted equity... you coulda got extra draft picks and still got Penix... not to mention if that's who you were gunning for them why pay Kirk... wasted cap... then Penix is 24... so if Kirk is any type of successful just just screwed Penix out of his 3rd career contract...I call it selfish moves on the GM... that video shows Mr Blanks himself was trying to understand the move... they really think they weren't gonna have high draft slots for 5-7 yrs... 😆 🤣

Falcons aren't necessarily in a win now mode. Penix, is now in a GREAT situation. He gets to learn the ropes and inherit (hopefully) a decent team.
