All right, so I'm not going to lie. I used to think that the commentary was a bit cheesy and used to roll my eyes when you screamed to GET LOST, but watching a video without it realize that I really did like it a lot. It’s good we have this channel because it shows how crazy people really are, but they also make me want to find a house in country away from people.
I've thought the same thing many times. Between the crime, politics and the lying media, I'm ready to go off-the-grid hermit mode.
It worked for me. I grew up in a tiny town and couldn't wait to get to the big city. Lived in the city for about 13 years and then couldn't wait to get back to the country in my mid-30s. Still love it as a senior. I watch shows like this to remind myself how good I have it. Now there are only 200 people here and it is so safe because it is also on an island. Most of the residents have lived here for years too so we know each other and help if needed.
I do have surveillance cameras, but basically they show me the weather outside without having to go out in bad weather. There are a lot of storms on the west coast, but I love it! My only bandits are deer and black bear roaming around but they can be chased off with a broom. The cameras are more like windows than protection. I have 5 acres in town with the beach out front and my forest in back.
I keep thinking if I lived in the city I'd not only have cameras all over the place, bars on the doors and windows, and a lot of 'Home Alone' features for protection.

@@pmarie2003 I actually was taught to shoot by my Dad, but it really is not necessary here to own a gun. I gave all my Dad's guns that I inherited and my own to my grown son who lives in the city. He has not needed to use them, but he has them anyway. I really don't need them on this small island. Yes, it is that safe here.

The ones that used to be connected to video recorders in the 90's and 00's did. The alarm was in the box that plugged into the scart socket.

Put several pounds of used cat litter into a plastic garbage bag. Put the bag inside of a sturdy cardboard box and seal it up good with tape. Giftwrap the box very nicely and ornately and include a colorful tag saying Happy Birthday (whoever) on it and set it on your porch.

I'm glad I live in a rural area, here trespassers get shot usually with a salt load or birdshot. So far its just been coyotes but anyone coming on the property uninvited would get the same.
I wonder if that would deter the door-to-door aholes from Spectrum, JoinMyCult, etc?

Why salt load or birdshot? Trespassers aren't coming over to play cards. And be sure they will be using more than birdshot.

We have a had several items stolen from our commercial property and I would LOVE to do the box full of cat poop or garbage…but I also don’t want these fools to come back and try to get revenge for it.
Instead I just make sure if I can’t be home to collect a package that someone can come get it for me.
Pro tip if you get a PO Box you can also have things delivered to your local post office if you have it mailed to their physical address. Even FedEx and UPS will deliver there if you use the address and not your PO Box number. The post office doesn’t love it but it keeps your packages from getting stolen. Just send the package with your name, the street address of the post office, Box number, city, state, zip.

People need to stop leaving valuables on their porch. Use some common sense. Also, try scheduling your packages to be dropped off when you're home, so they don't get stolen. Or have a neighbor that you really trust, sign and hold onto them.
