Hope y’all enjoy the video! Any surprises? Feel free to leave your thoughts! Also be sure to leave suggestions for schools you’d like me to make a similar video on :)
You didn’t show the slightest respect to Dan Issel or Kenny Walker. You should have simply called this list your personal favorite University of Kentucky basketball players.
This isn’t my own personal list brother. This is the highest RATED recruits according to 247sports, which I clearly stated in the video. Meaning players with an actual official recruiting rating. Recruiting ratings weren’t a thing back when Issel or walker were playing, hence why they weren’t included…
Great video man! I was a freshmen at UK during the John Wall Demarcus Cousins season and the hype around the team then was crazy. No college basketball fanbase compares to the passion of Kentucky fans! Wall and Davis were the most talented guys I ever saw during the Calipari era. Its a little disappointing Wall is out of the league now, injuries like you said derailed his career but also the game changing to being more 3 point oriented hurt Wall's longevity too as he was never really a skilled outside shooter. Great stuff my man! Keep up thr good work
Great video man as a Kentucky fan and someone who's played on UK's floor I appreciate you doing this. And I'm not sure why everyone in the comments are getting worked up about why you didn't involve past players maybe they should make their own video and if they knew anything about basketball at all they would know that the rankings wasn't even a thing until the early 2000s I want to say like 02/03 I could be wrong on the exact year but I know I'm close. Anyway don't let them get to you it was a good video and I'm excited to see future videos like this with other schools.
Glad you enjoyed man! Yea I clearly stated in the video that I’m looking exclusively at 247sports recruiting ratings, which like you said weren’t a thing until the early 2000’s. So obviously there’s gonna be some older players missing
And despite ALL this talent, Cal could only manage ONE title. ONE! And all he needed was a HOF NBA player to do so. Multiple overall number one picks of the draft. HOF recruiter. Terrible coach
They all left after one year, meaning Coach Cal rarely got them when they were great. Dean Smith had Michael Jordan, Sam Perkins, Brad Daughrety, and Kenny Smith on the same team and didn’t make the final four. I suppose Dean Smith was also a terrible coach.
@@bartmix8994 Having living through the era of Dean Smith, many would agree he was over rated, but what you are ignoring is the teams he was going against also had seasoned NBA players on their teams, so it's not nearly the same as what Cal has done. You are also downplaying how many OVERALL number one picks he had had that in the SAME DRAFT had lottery picks, Regardless, Cal has as many titles as Nolan Richardson. Using your logic, Nolan should also be a HOF coach, right?
Sharpe didn’t just “ditch” his plan, it was just becoming more and more apparent as the draft was getting closer that a team was going to use a top 10 pick on him. He didn’t something any kid his age would do.
I know he wasn't as a high of a recuit as Wall and Cousins you have to at least mention Bledoe in that class! It wasn't just a Wall/Cousins deal, Bledoe was his own monster too.
Video highlights how lucky we are to be rid of Cal! Great recruiter but terrible coach. Boston, Bradshaw, Edwards, and Skal were total busts at UK and Sharpe never played for us at all, lol
Aaron Bradshaw had terrible numbers in HS. I watched him a few times snd always left scratching my head of why he was ranked high. Same with Kahlil Whitney.
Bradshaw was 7'1" with good athleticism and an outside touch. Unfortunately he is too skinny and lacks good enough strength and could not handle the physicality of the college game.
Hell of a player! Unfortunately anyone that played in highschool prior to like the early 2000’s won’t be included since recruiting rating sites weren’t really around before then, so there’d be really no way to objectively rank them
@@HeatCheckProductions Publications like Prep magazine ranked High School recruits back then. Ron Mercer was generally considered the #1 Prospect coming out of High School. If this were a true representation of the top UK recruits in history as oppose to just the top recruits in the last 25 years I don't think Brandon Boston and Aaron Bradshaw would even be close to the top 10, because you not only missing Ron Mercer, but players like Sam Bowie,Rhodrick Rhodes,Rex Chapman, Antoine Walker etc. Good video though.
@Derby_City_Dasher Fair points man, I definitely see where you’re coming from. I think the key distinction is rankings vs ratings. My thought process for this video was that player rankings would be tough to go by since different recruiting sites/media outlets rank players so differently. Plus class strength can vary so much. The number 1 recruit from one class could be a much worse prospect then the number 1 recruit from a different class, if that makes sense. I thought using 247sports composite ratings (which averages the ratings from all the other major recruiting sites) would be better to go by since it’s all encompassing and more standardized from year to year since it’s less influenced by the overall strength of the class. Hopefully that makes sense haha. The only downside is composite ratings have only been around like 20ish years, so players before then are gonna be left out. I think it makes for an interesting video regardless
This really should have been reversed in their rankings at the number 2 and number 1 spot. Anthony Davis is WAY BETTER than Nerlens Noel. They're not even in the same league. Actually I would put Julius Randle, John Wall, DeMarcus Cousins and a few others higher than him. Noel to me is down there with Justin Edwards and Aaron Bradshaw as the biggest disappointments at Kentucky.
It's an all time list of Kentucky recruits that are RATED, not every recruit in general. Recruiting ratings weren't really a thing until the early 2000's, which is why all the players on 247Sports list are past that point. Hopefully that clarifies the video, but I can understand how people might overlook the specific wording
There are maybe two to three players that would be on a top 15 UK recruits of all time... Seriously, we've always gotten the top recruits.... Joe Hall with his staff (started midnight madness) takes a back seat to nobody.... Do some research... This may be Calipari's top ten.... Recruiting is the reason why coaches want the job .. it leads to success...
I get what your saying man, but the point of this video was to look at the highest RATED recruits. Recruiting rankings/ratings weren’t around before the 2000’s, which is why no players before that were included. Once again im not saying these are kentuckys best recruits of all time, but they’re the best recruits of all time that actually have an official recruiting rating, if that makes sense
Bro do more research. I do care what those numbers say, half them guys aren’t in the top 30 Kentucky prospects. I could’ve sworn Rick pitino was the coach at Kentucky and they were LOADED every year. Love your premise tho but dam bro
These are the recruiting ratings I pulled straight out of 247sports database, these aren’t my own personal opinions. I can provide a link if you’d like, but if you don’t like the list then your problem is with 247sports and not me brother lol. I appreciate you watching either way though regardless of whether you agree with it or not!
@ bro you’re not listening. Idc whose ratings they are, you can do better research to get a better list. Kentucky’s been a basketball powerhouse forever. Not saying go back to black and white but it’s WAY bigger than just since the last 20 years. You can do that with the classes but not with the schools. Just a recommendation
@@HeatCheckProductions this video was well put together my guy. I think the “problem “ is with the title. Maybe if you said best prospects since 2009….just a suggestion for future videos.

However the whole point of the video was to look at the ratings of these players. With this in mind, recruiting ratings/rankings weren’t really a thing until the early 2000’s, which is why any player before then wasn’t included. Perhaps you’re not aware, but there’s A LOT of people that are intrigued by recruiting ratings/rankings, hence why any video on my channel analyzing them tends to do pretty well
Hope y’all enjoy the video! Any surprises? Feel free to leave your thoughts!

Thats awesome bro! Must’ve been so cool to watch them in person
Nerlens Noel was on the path to beat anthony davis' all time block record before he got hurt
How crazy is it that I saw myself in the stands when they showed Aaron Bradshaw. Lol
Wall was great, but damn he could of been special. Sucks he got injured

We don’t consider sharpe a cat
Yea I can understand that. I was actually curious what Kentucky fans thought about him
Yea not a cat. Never played a game
Not a cat. Nothing against him. Not a cat tho.
Facts!
I agree he was not a wildcat! He used Kentucky to get his one year of college ball
With NIL $ now in college i hope more young men stay years, as it will help them develop their game and make good money while doing it.

Bledsoe was a beast at Kentucky for sure! The whole squad that year was pretty stacked

What happened to Dan Issel? He was the number one rated HS player.
Dan Issel was better than all of the players in the video except for Anthony Davis.

He was listed at 6'8" UK measures there player in shoes.

Go back a little further - Ron Mercer, Antoine Walker, Derrick Anderson
Antoine Walker was amazing at Kentucky and they were the National Champions.
Ya need Shhai
Change the title to " In Calipari Era"
Since Davis and Berlin’s are rated the same why not put Davis first
I could’ve, but I just wanted to keep the list exactly how it was on 247sports website is all
Good video but title should be in Calapari era
Wow no K A T hugh? Interesting
I thought Kat would be here as well, but 247sports had him rated at .9982, so he just missed out of the top 10. I think they have him 13th

DMCs attitude lead to his downfall plus injuries
Don't forget the biggest factor in an organization with the Kings that did everything they could to not get him help in players or coaches
