      You didn’t show the slightest respect to Dan Issel or Kenny Walker. You should have simply called this list your personal favorite University of Kentucky basketball players.

    • @HeatCheckProductions
      @HeatCheckProductions  13 дней назад

      This isn’t my own personal list brother. This is the highest RATED recruits according to 247sports, which I clearly stated in the video. Meaning players with an actual official recruiting rating. Recruiting ratings weren’t a thing back when Issel or walker were playing, hence why they weren’t included…

    Great video man! I was a freshmen at UK during the John Wall Demarcus Cousins season and the hype around the team then was crazy. No college basketball fanbase compares to the passion of Kentucky fans!
    Wall and Davis were the most talented guys I ever saw during the Calipari era. Its a little disappointing Wall is out of the league now, injuries like you said derailed his career but also the game changing to being more 3 point oriented hurt Wall's longevity too as he was never really a skilled outside shooter.
    Great stuff my man! Keep up thr good work

    Great video man as a Kentucky fan and someone who's played on UK's floor I appreciate you doing this. And I'm not sure why everyone in the comments are getting worked up about why you didn't involve past players maybe they should make their own video and if they knew anything about basketball at all they would know that the rankings wasn't even a thing until the early 2000s I want to say like 02/03 I could be wrong on the exact year but I know I'm close. Anyway don't let them get to you it was a good video and I'm excited to see future videos like this with other schools.

      Glad you enjoyed man! Yea I clearly stated in the video that I’m looking exclusively at 247sports recruiting ratings, which like you said weren’t a thing until the early 2000’s. So obviously there’s gonna be some older players missing

    • @bartmix8994
      @bartmix8994 12 дней назад +1

      They all left after one year, meaning Coach Cal rarely got them when they were great. Dean Smith had Michael Jordan, Sam Perkins, Brad Daughrety, and Kenny Smith on the same team and didn’t make the final four. I suppose Dean Smith was also a terrible coach.

    • @Syrin23
      @Syrin23 12 дней назад

      @@bartmix8994 Having living through the era of Dean Smith, many would agree he was over rated, but what you are ignoring is the teams he was going against also had seasoned NBA players on their teams, so it's not nearly the same as what Cal has done. You are also downplaying how many OVERALL number one picks he had had that in the SAME DRAFT had lottery picks, Regardless, Cal has as many titles as Nolan Richardson. Using your logic, Nolan should also be a HOF coach, right?

      @@HeatCheckProductions Publications like Prep magazine ranked High School recruits back then. Ron Mercer was generally considered the #1 Prospect coming out of High School. If this were a true representation of the top UK recruits in history as oppose to just the top recruits in the last 25 years I don't think Brandon Boston and Aaron Bradshaw would even be close to the top 10, because you not only missing Ron Mercer, but players like Sam Bowie,Rhodrick Rhodes,Rex Chapman, Antoine Walker etc. Good video though.

    • @HeatCheckProductions
      @HeatCheckProductions  12 дней назад +1

      @Derby_City_Dasher Fair points man, I definitely see where you’re coming from. I think the key distinction is rankings vs ratings. My thought process for this video was that player rankings would be tough to go by since different recruiting sites/media outlets rank players so differently. Plus class strength can vary so much. The number 1 recruit from one class could be a much worse prospect then the number 1 recruit from a different class, if that makes sense. I thought using 247sports composite ratings (which averages the ratings from all the other major recruiting sites) would be better to go by since it’s all encompassing and more standardized from year to year since it’s less influenced by the overall strength of the class. Hopefully that makes sense haha. The only downside is composite ratings have only been around like 20ish years, so players before then are gonna be left out. I think it makes for an interesting video regardless

    This really should have been reversed in their rankings at the number 2 and number 1 spot. Anthony Davis is WAY BETTER than Nerlens Noel. They're not even in the same league. Actually I would put Julius Randle, John Wall, DeMarcus Cousins and a few others higher than him. Noel to me is down there with Justin Edwards and Aaron Bradshaw as the biggest disappointments at Kentucky.

      It's an all time list of Kentucky recruits that are RATED, not every recruit in general. Recruiting ratings weren't really a thing until the early 2000's, which is why all the players on 247Sports list are past that point. Hopefully that clarifies the video, but I can understand how people might overlook the specific wording

      I get what your saying man, but the point of this video was to look at the highest RATED recruits. Recruiting rankings/ratings weren’t around before the 2000’s, which is why no players before that were included. I get what your saying man and I agree that kentuckys probably had better prospects throughout history than many of the guys in this video. However the whole point of the video was to look at the ratings of these players. With this in mind, recruiting ratings/rankings weren’t really a thing until the early 2000’s, which is why any player before then wasn’t included. Ik u said you don’t care about the ratings, which is fine, but just keep in mind that this video in particular was designed to be based around those 247sports ratings.
