I agree so much. To be honest, the pixel art is hard to focus on and is very limited for showing emotion. The anime parts were amazing. It straight up gave me goosebumps
I do like how the Floran and Hylotl are fighting so often, being as how in the official Starbound lore, they had wars, and both species hate each other. My only complaint, if you could call it that, is that the Glitch didn't speak their emotion/intent before speaking, as they do.

Its like stairs, but without the stairs! Love this! Its got an adult vibe to it (the blood, that static covered porn scene, the lewd dressing/undressing scenes with Arc), but its not too over the top or distasteful.
I find it ironic that this is serious and a bloody while the actual Starbound is more kid friendly than Terraria, and the Terraria Animated Series seems harmless.
wow, this is real nice... i did find the change between pixel and anime-styled sometimes a little bit jarring, i get this sorta needed for that added detail. generally in some anime's their is a gradual increase in seriousness where the characters get more detailed and better shaded, not criticising it, just saying that's how most are done... anyhow this is a good pilot an i agree with the others that maybe shorter episodes might be easier on you and ultimately the show/series... also caught the one piece reference there, and from the trailer leading up to this i kinda got the impression that it was more a blues-infused space-western themed animation... and omg the casual nudity and 'thing'(you know) jeeszz... pushing that age rating allot... but this is still the best out there.... I'm waiting for the next one

The sudden switch of animation between certain parts of the episode felt a little jarring, but you needed to really show the character portraits this episode, so it's fine. I also might get used to it over time, so take this bit with a grain of salt. Having Kroes be the only one who really curses most of the time kind of bugs me. Either he should be (almost) as well mannered as the other parts of the crew, or the rest of them should talk like that as well, albeit less often. I know other characters curse, but Kroes just stands out in this case. Sometimes the story felt like it could use a bit of humor, or when it did have humor, it felt kind of dry/forced. Humor in a show should be natural, or casual. Don't want to be rude, but you should write your script as you would if you and your friends were talking to each other in that setting. Voice acting is alright enough, considering that none of them (At least I don't think) are professional/trained for voice acting. Wish Arc talked a bit more in the pilot, but that's fine. The pilot is long, but that's a good thing. 30 minutes should be enough to start off the series. A tip might be to chop that in half for other episodes that aren't that important: 10-15 minutes should be plenty for a small errand Starcrew would be doing. I feel like the Organ Donors aren't completely done with yet. Starcrew just killed one leader, but there will always be more to go against in the future. I hope you address this, as it's Aside from these things, this is an outstanding start to the series, and I hope that you will continue making this great series.

Some of the lines seem a little awkward and the VO volume is inconsistent. In particular, Vex is often too quiet. I'm not an audio expert by any means, but he was the quietest more so than just a soft-spoken tone of voice should account for. This is awesome for a first episode though and I really would like to see more.

I know it's suppose to be starbound but it feels nothing like it. When I think of starbound I think of a survival,space adventure type game not a dramatic space crew fighting bad guys but DAMN, this is some good stuff...
I see a few comments here and there about Arc's casual nudity scene being, well.. "unnecessary", however I don't think this is the case and I am going to have to disagree. Arc is a beautiful female character who is meant to not only be sexy but also strong. Her looks are apart of her skill assets and can be just as dangerous as her blade if mistaken for weakness. Using scenes to display just how beautiful she is, is CRUCIAL for developing her character. Without them, then she'd be just a bunch of pixels swinging a sword. It adds to her character and makes her dynamic. Great job on it. (and the "black bar" animation warning system is genius and professional). Keep it up. Wouldn't mind having shorter episodes so that they could be put out faster.

I just realized, they couldn't have a novakid character have an experience with the organ donors because they are destined as 'gas bag' people and consist mainly of plasma, lingering gasses and other explosive material. In short, when they die, the explode, and the only trace of them once there is a warped piece of metal that was their respective brand.
The voice acting could be better, the story seems alright thus far, it would be nice to see Glitch talking like a Glitch would as well as all the races speaking like they do in game. Id also love to see novakid somewhere. The volume for the Floran could be better. Also introduction could be plenty better, as well as making the characters a bit more likeable. As for the alternate animation from game to your own, keep in mind. Floran domt habe hair, they have foliage, like flowers. Almost everything is great though, ill stick with this series, good luck ^^
I wrote this and sent it like 10 seconds before the novakid showed up, would have been better if he used long range instead of having any blade. You could have made him a mysterious sniper that helps the clearly main character human. Also, rhe red Floran that hisses, thats how they should ALL talk (in my opnion) they are a race and all have an accent, i guess. The hissing is one of the Florans main attributes. The novakid could have also talked more like a cowboy, its another one of their "accents". Another nice thing would be adding in the pets, or more things from the game. Overall, i wish ya luck once again, this has potential, i like it!

Please be careful about the music you choose. Here in Germany, the GEMA can ban videos that contain music "that was not agreed about yet". And I don't want to miss any episode of this :D
Very high quality overall, but the voice acting was iffy. Some of the voice actors were spot on, but others were very monotone and sounded as if they were reading off a script. Also just nitpicking, but I have strong doubts that floran blood (sap?) is red.
Can't wait to watch more! I was really happy when you implemented the Novakid race into the series because in the original Starbound game, the Novakids are non-canon. So I give you and the others props for doing this amazing masterpiece. Hope you keep adding more references. :P
A very decent start to what seems like the first Starbound fan animation project. Though it's not without its faults. Let's get the good out of the way, before moving on to the bad. The good: 1) The mix of using the game's sprites and the anime-inspired animation is a fantastic idea that I whole-heartedly support. It allowed us a better, closer look at the characters and other things than a simple close-up of their sprites and I hope that you continue using it in the future for more things. 2) That ending, showing off each of the veteran crew members' individual markings was absolutely PHENOMENAL. A real audience hook right there. Really makes us want to stick around to learn more about the origins of those marks and how they affected the individual characters. Kudos for that, excellent way to spark curiosity. You will have to give them their individual characters arcs in the future, though. At least an episode or two in length. 3) The characters that made up the veteran crew were great and it's clear that they're good people and they do seem to share chemistry, if only because of their shared history. Something that could do well for arcs in the future along with their individual character arcs. I really liked how nice they were to the traumatized new kid and how supportive and helpful they were to him. The bad: 1) The villain and his minions were flat, uninteresting, and there-and-gone without leaving any form of impact apart from being the reason for the new guy's addition to the team. This should have been stretched out to at least two episodes in order to properly show the nature of their threat. This falls under the old literary rule of "show, don't tell" as you spend more time TELLING us about how horrible these people are and very little time actually SHOWING us this fact. 2) The villain's 'dying regrets' moment was completely out of place and had no business being here. There was no indication that he had any regrets before and he did not deserve that. You do not get to pull that kind of heel face turn after all that. 3) The new guy was able to fight the murderers of his old crew a little too easily. He really should have had more of a reaction to it, especially coming face-to-face to one of the ones that took part in that slaughter. 4) The villain himself was not properly fleshed out aside from being a 'reckless renegade with a murder-boner'. 5) Another factor for the necessity of a two-part opening, you need the time to properly introduce us as your audience to this universe you're building here. We know literally NOTHING about the organization that your characters appear to work for or its purpose. You could have used a two-part episode to fill us in on this as well as building up the threat of your villain and his own organization. 7) Probably the lesser of the issues here, but the lip-syncing for your sprites could use some work, spotted a few errors here and there. In short, could be better, could be worse, but I liked it enough that you have my up-vote and subscription. I look forward to more episodes in the future. There's a lot of promise here and I have faith that your team can make a fantastic series out of this.

This is really good and I hope to see more. A problem I have is the camera being so close to their faces like around the 24 minute mark when its so pixelated so its mind boggling. But other than that I love it. Every one has their own little problems like the florans experimentation and the avians wrist being cut, cant wait for you to get deeper into that.

You could also add the new Shadow people on midnight planets in the future, they dont talk or do much so they are free for interpretion. But if you make one a character that will be seen alot or you want them to stand out, i hope you do it in a creative way.

Very high quality overall, but the voice acting was iffy. Some of the voice actors were spot on, but others were very monotone and sounded as if they were reading off a script. Also just nitpicking, but I have strong doubts that floran blood (sap?) is red.
Can't wait to watch more! I was really happy when you implemented the Novakid race into the series because in the original Starbound game, the Novakids are non-canon. So I give you and the others props for doing this amazing masterpiece. Hope you keep adding more references. :P

Extra Proof that there MUST be a starbound Anime. But till they do that, this is the best we have. (And it's still really good.)
A very decent start to what seems like the first Starbound fan animation project. Though it's not without its faults.
Let's get the good out of the way, before moving on to the bad.
The good:
1) The mix of using the game's sprites and the anime-inspired animation is a fantastic idea that I whole-heartedly support. It allowed us a better, closer look at the characters and other things than a simple close-up of their sprites and I hope that you continue using it in the future for more things.
2) That ending, showing off each of the veteran crew members' individual markings was absolutely PHENOMENAL. A real audience hook right there. Really makes us want to stick around to learn more about the origins of those marks and how they affected the individual characters. Kudos for that, excellent way to spark curiosity. You will have to give them their individual characters arcs in the future, though. At least an episode or two in length.
3) The characters that made up the veteran crew were great and it's clear that they're good people and they do seem to share chemistry, if only because of their shared history. Something that could do well for arcs in the future along with their individual character arcs. I really liked how nice they were to the traumatized new kid and how supportive and helpful they were to him.
The bad:
1) The villain and his minions were flat, uninteresting, and there-and-gone without leaving any form of impact apart from being the reason for the new guy's addition to the team. This should have been stretched out to at least two episodes in order to properly show the nature of their threat. This falls under the old literary rule of "show, don't tell" as you spend more time TELLING us about how horrible these people are and very little time actually SHOWING us this fact.
2) The villain's 'dying regrets' moment was completely out of place and had no business being here. There was no indication that he had any regrets before and he did not deserve that. You do not get to pull that kind of heel face turn after all that.
3) The new guy was able to fight the murderers of his old crew a little too easily. He really should have had more of a reaction to it, especially coming face-to-face to one of the ones that took part in that slaughter.
4) The villain himself was not properly fleshed out aside from being a 'reckless renegade with a murder-boner'.
5) Another factor for the necessity of a two-part opening, you need the time to properly introduce us as your audience to this universe you're building here. We know literally NOTHING about the organization that your characters appear to work for or its purpose. You could have used a two-part episode to fill us in on this as well as building up the threat of your villain and his own organization.
7) Probably the lesser of the issues here, but the lip-syncing for your sprites could use some work, spotted a few errors here and there.
In short, could be better, could be worse, but I liked it enough that you have my up-vote and subscription. I look forward to more episodes in the future. There's a lot of promise here and I have faith that your team can make a fantastic series out of this.

This is really good and I hope to see more. A problem I have is the camera being so close to their faces like around the 24 minute mark when its so pixelated so its mind boggling. But other than that I love it. Every one has their own little problems like the florans experimentation and the avians wrist being cut, cant wait for you to get deeper into that.

You could also add the new Shadow people on midnight planets in the future, they dont talk or do much so they are free for interpretion. But if you make one a character that will be seen alot or you want them to stand out, i hope you do it in a creative way.
