Could you please explain how the changes you make periodically at the top near the tuning pegs works? I know it has to do with the lowest string (an extension, I believe), but I’m curious how it changes the tuning? Is it similar to a guitar capo but attached via a mechanism to the instrument? Thanks
The capos allow the E to be lowered in half steps until a C. They swivel into position to stop the string, but they are permanently attached to the extension. I start the excerpt with the D and E both closed. I then open the E when I arrive at the low D, re-closing after to allow the low runs starting on E. Later in the excerpt, I need a low C so I open everything!
