- 8th position at the 2023 E-Mega. First race of the legendary Megavalanche weekend saw a big turn out of fast guys (and girls) on their Enduro E-bikes. Warm conditions with a bit of overnight rain made for some very soft snow so almost everybody had to run at the beginning. I had a good initial start but then got caught off balance by a few deep snow ruts and almost lost control with my left leg somehow getting stuck between my rear wheel and the frame! Haha. It seems like these guys did more walking than the boys on acoustic bikes. interesting.
Only in your mind, it's also described as analog bikes and not 'acoustic'.
The real answer is because it depends so much on the snow conditions. The E-bike race is on Saturday morning and the Men’s final is on Sunday morning. Generally speaking, if it’s clear skies overnight then the temperature up top is very cold and the snow freezes very hard which makes it super fast. If it’s cloudy then the overnight temperature is milder and the snow is very soft and slow. A lot of the top guys, like Damien Oton, still do both events. Rider ability isn’t the reason for a difference in snow conditions/performance.
Good to see pedal power only but I do spin out when they hit traction how good their gearing works, expensive hardware right there. Check out the speed they get in so little time,must be steep aza.
you deserve a win in these races as your flat speed was crazy high, with the less than ideal struggle in the snow at the start , it makes for a very entertaining video passing so many : )

Haha!! Even in real life it isn’t easy. Especially when your HR is through the roof! We do get to practice the course though so everybody kind of knows where they’re going.

was very interested at the "creative" path you took 2:46 to bypass that slushy snow but I checked a bunch of other videos and I couldn't see any flags actually requiring you to go all the way to the corner so it seems legit!

This year I’m going to use the Bosch motor. It’s definitely going to be a big upgrade over last year. I’d say they’re the best brand to have 👌

Will you go for a SX with 340W Bosch or the CX Race with 750W battery?.
I'm just trying to gauge how much battery is used in a race run for the different size Bosch motors 🙂
@@chriswright7083 In that race I had a EP8 motor with 630wh battery.
The race is mostly downhill so you use almost no battery.
I’ll be racing this year with a CX motor and a 625wh battery since that’s what my bike comes with. I expect to only use 10-15% of that battery.

25kph is the speed cut off limit. That’s basically the only rule in place I believe

Yeah, in the E-bike race you’re allowed to use E-bikes.
The electric race is on Saturday and the acoustic race is on Sunday. Some people do both!

Well, I agree that it doesn’t totally make sense. The main problem is that most of the race is above 25km/h so there isn’t any assistance on offer! So therefore everyone is riding a really heavy bike with extra motor drag instead 😅😂
