      This has gone by so fast! I can't believe you'll have a baby soon, I'm actually so happy for you. Try and think of it as you got to enjoy your first pregnancy uninterrupted by life and you got to pay real good attention to the whole experience and yourself. Your next pregnancy can be full of experiences with other people and outings and you'll know what to expect even better then.

    I would say the thing that nobody ever told me about was that after having my girls I would need to cross my legs when I need to sneeze or get a fit of coughing. If I don't... well, I do Kegels like nobody's business and yet I have had accidents. Mini pads are a life saver when doing jumping exercises. Just wanted to prepare you in case this happens after the little one comes out.

    the best part for me in this video was pregnant melanie talking about sex 💕 because it's important for knowledge, that pregnancy is not just about the baby and it's not like pregnant women don't have a sex drive or it's always about the baby! yes it's a precious, significant amount of time for the baby but the parent is still the same person as compared to the before and after becoming a parent !
    idk what i'm getting to here but thank you so much for the update 🥰
    hope you all are doing amazing during this very alarming situation 💕✨

    These videos help me so much. I was brought up with a very toxic view of having children. Sort of unwittingly taught to believe that having a child is one of the worst decisions you could make. That they ruin your life. But now, at 27, and engaged to a wonderful man, I would like to have a family. But those ingrained ideas are putting up a damn fight to go away, and your videos really help me feel more excited about it instead of horrified. Thank you so very much for sharing all of this.

    • @lynncrf
      @lynncrf 4 года назад +3

      Same, but most people in my generation were taught that from doctors, teachers, school, and sex Ed. It didn't help that our parents also told us that an unplanned pregnancy would be the worst thing ever. We were taught to wait until we were married in our 30s, but the trouble with that is it might be too late if you have fertility challenges (fertility declines in everyone with age, but adding fertility challenges to that natural age related decline is a recipe for disaster). Also you might have serious health challenges then, which will interfere with having kids.
      27 is a great age to consider having kids. I hope you and your future husband can start a family.

      @sanamamood9829 4 года назад +1

      @@nicholemccann5630 you kinda have to put your own wants and feelings aside and think about whether if you bought a child here something that's easy and common and most propel can do can you provide, raise it right, be there regardless of what choice a child chooses to have? I remember that I liked the third trimester during my first pregnancy because my maternity leave started and I could rest as much as I wanted and look forward to the little person, and nest without anyone requiring anything from me. During the second pregnancy I really did not like it because it was almost impossible to have the energy to run after my 2 and a half year old😱 so since you are still working I get that you are exhausted! My pain was so severe that I couldn’t even stand or sit or lie down at all for a long period. It was genuinely awful I had codeine prescribed to try and help me sleep! Im so glad you’re talking about it and that it’s not affecting you too badly. One thing I found to help was to get a scarf and tie it tightly around hips. It didn’t fix it but it helped a little and it’s much cheaper than buying something specific. Good luck And lots of love to you and yours xx

    Mel I have a big recommendation for when the baby's here (not something you need to stress about at the beginning, just look after yourself and Thomas and keep the little nugget alive is all that matters!) I've been loving the Montessori philosophy of parenting. It's like the instruction manual I was craving when my son was born, and now that he just turned 8 months I'm so excited with the direction we're going. I was so interested to hear about the emotional stability you are experiencing, before I was pregnant I was always the emotional one in my friendship group, I’d cry so easily and I’d be up and down a lot. Once I was pregnant, since having my little girl and even now in my second pregnancy everyone says how much happier I am , so much less emotional, I hardly ever cry at unnecessary things anymore and I feel so much happier and chilled out most of the time! I almost feel like it’s because I was alway meant to be a mother 😊

My baby is only 6 weeks, so I didn’t get my period yet, I wonder if all the symptoms will come back, but with the sleep deprivation I do find myself much more emotionally unstable. Try not to want a certain birth too much.. out of 8 ladies on our NCT course only one found the birth not borderline traumatic and we all did the Positive Birth Company course. A lot of us felt robbed of the birth we wanted because we had this vision in mind. I do think you will do great though xx

    One very important thing to think about for ones birth plan!!!! If things go sideways and mama and baby have to be separated for them to get necessary care, where does Dad want to go? Does he want to stay with Mama or go with baby? In my opinion, its a really important thing to think about beforehand rather than have to make that decision in the moment, if it comes to that :)

      I think I will! Some people asked me to make it after I've given birth so I can understand that 'protectiveness' fully so I think I'll upload that later in the year! :) I have no problem with the baby being in the background or in pics with me but I just want it to be unrecognisable so I will be very strategic about what I share - I've seen some creators do a great job of this and I'd never know their kid when out and about, that's the goal! xxx

    So excited for you! I had my first baby in April. I too had planned a super natural, no pain meds birth, but I ended up having to be induced at 36 weeks cause of pre-eclampsia. Went as long as I could without pain meds, but those pitocin contractions are brutal, so I ended up getting an epidural. (would have liked to try gas and air, but i'm in the US, and it isn't really used here for some reason) I think it is important to plan, but also be flexible. Even though things went differently than I planned, I still had a really lovely birth and I'm SO grateful to modern medicine and our amazing drs. and nurses for getting me and baby girl through it safely.

    Thank you so much for sharing your weight gain in this. I thought I’d made peace with the idea of gaining weight in pregnancy, but it starts piling on so much faster in trimester 2, and after my provider told me she wanted me to gain most of my weight in my third trimester, seeing the sudden jump on the scale made me question myself (even though I’ve been SO much more active than I was my first trimester and feel great). This was reassuring since you were on the higher end of the curve as well, and gained a perfectly healthy amount of weight in the end.

    Speaking as a chemist, petrol/kerosene and the like is composed of a number of different "aromatic hydrocarbons". I've always found the smell of fresh petrol fairly pleasant, so I'm guessing that one of these aromatics is what you're attracted to. Given that these type of chemicals can be harmful in "excess" its probably not a great idea to sniff too many firelighters! See this link for more info:

    My older sister did that! The birthing center for my first nephew and a home birth (with midwives from the birthing center) for my second.
    For the first the whole family was there and it was a really great experience. They didn't make everyone cover themselves in scrubs or put her in stirrups. It didn't feel like scary surgery, it was super natural. We got there early, right after her water broke, and they said she had time. They sent us to IHOP to get breakfast for her strength and to walk on the beach and come back when her contractions were closer. Once there it was like hanging out in a house. We watched dvds together for distraction, she moved as much as she needed. She paced outside, sat on a yoga ball, sat in the hot tub, laid sideways on the bed with her legs against the wall. I filmed it. Lol
    For my second nephew the birthing center set up a hot tub/ birthing tub in the backyard of their house and she had a similar experience but at home. I wasn't there for that one but she liked it a lot 👍
    I know not everyone can do that. Some people have risks and complications that make it advisable to be in a hospital. But I also think natural births are great when you can. I'm so glad you're considering one! 💚

    I had vasospasm whilst trying to breastfeed my first baby, they went white and were excruciating! Just make sure you get LOTS of pain management for the start of breastfeeding, my top tip would be apply TONS of nippled cream after every. single. feed even from the first one! If I was still having those and stomach pain I'd feel that my IBS was still hanging about, but my IBS symptoms like gas and whatnot have all fecked off ever since I got pregnant, apparently something to do with the hormones...loads of pregnant people report that it goes away forever for them after pregnancy but others say it gets worse during pregnancy or that, if it goes away, it comes back etc, we're all sooo different!

    Yes! Without trying to be too concern-crazed, you shouldn’t be deliberately inhaling fumes from things like fire-lighters, petrol, paint, exhaust/tail pipes etc. They contain particles known as PM2.5. I’m not sure about the science behind attraction to them but I do know about the harms they cause to your body. Essentially, PM2.5 (particulate matter 2.5μm in diameter or less) are particles so small they can pass through the alveoli in your lungs and end up in your blood stream and exposure to them can do (sorry a bit scary here) serious long-term damage. Things like paint and petrol have a very high concentration of VOCs (volatile organic compounds) which PM2.5 falls under. I would highly recommend reading into it, especially while pregnant and having the baby because it’s one of the lesser-known harmful substances and something that everyone should try their best to actively avoid. A REALLY good resource to get an understanding of what it is and what it can do is the book “Clearing the Air” by Tim Smedley. Here’s a link describing what it can do from the US EPA website: www.epa.gov/pm-pollution/health-and-environmental-effects-particulate-matter-pm. And the WHO: www.who.int/health-topics/air-pollution#tab=tab_1. I’d HIGHLY recommend reading into it and downloading an app that allows you to see PM2.5 levels in your area. I personally use ‘Air Visual’ which is fairly comprehensive and more up to date than most government websites. Don’t let it panic you, it’s scary stuff but there are lots of ways you can minimise your exposure and be more in control of how it affects you ❤️❤️

    How about when your baby kicks right above your bladder and you feel drops of wee coming down? It happened to me in the middle of the street.
    My cousin gave birth to her baby boy in a public hospital in Burnley in April and she sent me videos of the place. To me it seemed like a hotel, they had everything you could possibly dream of, so you can feel as comfortable as possible, plus the midwives offered such great support!
    I had my boy 10 years ago, you made me think about that experience again. I still remember every second of that day.
