Hey everyone! Today we're reviewing the Ibanez SRD905F, the spiritual successor to the Ibanez SRF705 AKA The Portamento. A lot of features carry over including the ridiculous 30 "fret" fretless neck, super flexible EQ setup, and the ergonomic Sound Gear body. Does the SRD905F offer enough to justify the price bump over the SRF705 Portamento? Let's find out!
This bass and all my other basses with rounds are strung with SIT Foundation Nickel Plated Stainless Steel 45-105(125) unless otherwise noted. Check them out at sitstrings.com/

i love how your bass channel is now a compilation of you getting bullied by your cat.
LMAO
Amazing bass, you're always in tune, perfect intonation! I wish I was that good on my fretless!
It's great but they always ruin otherwise amazing fretless basses because of some marking visual navigation thing.
I find myself looking forward to the Microcosm section of these new reviews, and that fretless sounds spectacular with it.
Thank you! That's my favorite part to film
Okay, utilizing standard, fretted bass dot markers is totally idiotic. I'd also expect that it would use a 35" scale for a little better tension on the low B. I do think lined fret markers and correct-spaced dot markers are a real aid, and concur that some sort of case or bag should be included with this.
I played unlined for years before I ever saw a lined Bass. The front markers would be a problem for me also...
the portamento neck was way better. This bass makes it feel as if they just make a normal neck and just didn't put in frets
Excellent review, really love the attention to detail of your descriptions.
I really like Ibanez, but whoever is in charge of their product names needs to be sent back to marketing class.
The SRF705 is my main bass. I was interested in this, glad you did a review of it. Its a nice looking bass, but I think if the piezo was tuned down some it wouldn't be so harsh. The Nords are really bright. Overall it seems like a brighter tone than the SRF705. Great review Lobster! As a pedalhead I really dig the feature using the pedals, especially the Microcosm. Excellent as always 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Dear Lobster, I often feel letting the strings age a bit would take some zing and handling noise away.
This bass has so much potential for brightness!
Great to have regular low end content from you again
The cat could not be any less impressed....
This has me REALLY considering one. It sounds amazing! Great review as always!
I always though bartolini pickups are a better fit for fretless basses. But those Nordstrands are sounding good.
Sweet looking bass
Im happy to see the new lobster vid!
When is the harley benton pb 50 vid coming out!
Thanks for the review, have always been curious about Ibanez basses.
Sweet
This is not the first time I've seen a fretless come out and be like "did anyone actually try to play on it with this configuration of fret markers?!" It seems so well designed otherwise, that's such a crazy oversight...
P.S. I like the new direction you've taken with the more "produced" jams at the end.
I bought an SRC6NS alst year, and I love it, but like you, I am befudlled by the fact that I paid north of $1K for something, and didn't even get a case. Great review!
I think I would get the old Portamento and then upgrade to Nordies. Or better yet just skip straight to the GWB205. The unlined and unmarked fretless board on that bass looked way more premium and classy. This one just screams "we just defretted a normal SR neck to save money, face markers and all". Also not really a fan of face markers on a fretless, the material and thus the tone changes when a note is stopped on one. And if the wood ever shrinks or swells around them you are all kinds of screwed.
A very versatile fretless. I love it. Panga panga would be a great cat name💁🏼♂️
You hands down have the best channel when showing off new basses and gear. Thank you ❤
You always pick the absolute coolest basses!! I hope you can get your claws on the new Squier 6-string
To me, the inlays make perfect sense. I'm used to the inlays being between the frets
How could 4 string players not listen to this video and not go get yourself a deep barkin' 5 string?
Im interested in the lady lobsters thoughts on new epiphone grabber
I will never stop calling the old basses Portabello
song of storms :O
loved the review!
Love the effect on your bass.
love the crazy cat lady aesthetic
