    Good morning Therese! This video was very helpful. Thank you for the great ideas! I am ALWAYS looking for better ways to make my craft room more efficient. I started out many years ago with the wooden stacking cubes. I got one with the hanging file folders and ended up using it to keep my paper scraps, each folder for a separate color family. It is right next to my work area and so convenient! It is amazing how often I am looking for a scrap instead of using a whole piece of cardstock. There is nothing like a setup where once you sit down for a project and don't have to keep getting up to go look for something!

    • @lostinpaper
      @lostinpaper  13 дней назад

      That's a great idea! I used to have concertina folders that I kept my scraps in (also in colour families) and this worked a treat for a very long time. I am not exactly sure why I stopped... but having the scraps in with the A4 coordinating colours is working for me so far. But I may revert back in time, I think our craft spaces are never 'finished' they are 'ever-evolving' lol.

    Paper really is the Rabbit Hole. I’ve only been back at card making for a year now but I quickly made the decision to keep the paper under control. But it mysteriously grows! I do like your idea on storing those paper type items that don’t stand up well because that is an issue I haven’t been able to resolve. Will give your storage idea a go. Thanks

    I started out scrapbooking and then added cardmaking. I used to have drawers for my paper but found those 12 x 12 holders and never looked back. I also use those same A4 size for my specialty papers and I have one for each of the different type of scraps. I use the Kmart clear kitchen containers for my design paper. I have to confess I have way too much but what’s a girl to do😄💕

    If I had a nickel for every time I told a creator that their idea was 'brilliant', I'd own the bank, but YOUR IDEA IS *BRILLIANT*! I just moved from one side of the United States to the other and boy oh boy do I have the need for some paper storage! Turning the 12x12 organizational holders on their side is absolutely mind blowing! I purchased a bunch of them from Temu and, like you, found it such a hassle to pull one off the shelf to get a paper or a packet out because I usually had several other things in my hand (I mean, it's not that I'm LAZY or anything 🤔🤨🤭). I'm also going to pull apart all my paper pads and put each one into its own sleeve, as you suggested. In my favor is that I'm not on anyone's design team or anything, so I don't have to keep track of exactly what I'm using. Working against me is the fact that I'm a junk journaler, and WE KEEP EVERYTHING!
    I sincerely thank you for sharing all these ideas. Hugs from the Midwest, USA, MK 🤗 🤗

      I know that you can buy small tabs with adhesive on each side then you can slip in a piece of the cardstock or a label name. They are used on the top of the dividers that you can get for filing cabinets, like these ones here (this is an affiliate link which means if you buy something using it then I get a small commission at no extra cost to you) amzn.to/3DuKFnr
      Or you probably already have everything you need to make a 'homemade' version of this with a strong double sided tape and heavy weight acetate or clear plastic packaging...

    Well, I only have about 10 plastic pockets/envelopes for all of my paper. I made four of my own 12 x 12 pockets out of heavy-ish vinyl and clear tape, and that's been working well for me. The six store-bought ones have snaps like yours, which I don't use either. I had just tucked the flap in behind the paper, but I'm going to go and cut the snaps off right this minute! What a great idea!

    Hello Therese! I love the tour of your paper storage! I also use the dividers on their sides for my A4 color cardstock, but it isn't protected by any package. I've got to get some sleeves! Thank you for that info!! I use large plastic sleeves for my 12x12 patterned cardstock,] which I'm now going to remove the snaps, but the solid 12x12 is again, not protected. It's just on shelves. My big problem is white cardstock and keeping each weight separate. Can't wait to see your space when it's all done.

      Hi Jean, Glad to hear that some of these storage tips will be helpful to you. My white cardstock is kept in 'in trays' (I make sure that they are stackable and have a 'flat' base as I had issues with previous trays that warped my paper. I know which ones are which, but you can't see it in the video but I have a piece of paper with a label to tell me stuck to the inside of the tray. From the top to the bottom - I keep Neenah 80lb | Neenah 110lb | copy paper (to scribble on or to protect work surfaces) | pull out drawer for scraps (mostly it's pieces of white and black cardstock in here) | Crafty Critta Stamping Blending cardstock (it's new to me). You can see it here in the video ruclips.net/video/pAs_rOhoGLk/видео.htmlsi=giFdJeKlVvJwKWPx&t=614 Hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any further questions. Crafty hugs Therese

    Great tips here! I am also of the type that does not like opening & closing flaps. I found some larger storage envelopes on Amazon that work great! Also, a tip I saw from another channel…she ordered dry erase envelopes from Amazon…they are clear envelopes with a colored seam. I store all my scraps by color in the pouches…it works great! Not expensive either. TYFS! New subbie here (Michigan) ❤️🦋💜

      What a fabulous tip Cindy!! Scraps are one of the hardest things to store, and I love the dry erase envelope idea! I used to have concertina folders and keep a section for each family of colours and always went to this first for the colours I needed. For some reason I stopped using it, I think the folder was getting old and I had trouble sourcing a new one, maybe I should look again now that I am die cutting coloured cardstock so much more! PS a HUGE Welcome, I am so happy you are here with me and hope you find more inspiration here AND how cool that you are in Michigan, it must be a great place, because it is where my husband was born!

    I have been reorganizing for almost a year, it's crazy. I loved the tip about the containers you used for the vellum and adhesive. Right now I have my big sheets of adhesive and masking stored on their sides in a plastic bin, along with some other adhesive dots, etc. I needed space to store all of my stuff. I bought the Kallax cube unit from IKEA, actually two, but I don't like everything out and visual. It was too much for my brain. So, I invested in metal locker cabinets. There was a sale at Wafare and they came in all kinds of colors. During the sale there was really only orange and yellow but I was OK with that. They had big tall ones that were wide, and then shorter ones that were that same width. They were easy to put together and they have so much space. I wish you could buy extra shelves for it. Most all of my paper that is A4 size is standing up in IKEA magazine holders. I got some hard plastic ones that work great. I think I am going to use your tip on storing the vellum, etc. I also.invested in carousels from Stamp and Storage for my inks and some for jars. I LOVE them.

    • @lostinpaper
      @lostinpaper  Месяц назад

      I like the idea of using magazine holders for A4 cardstock! Another thing I have found recently is 'pot and pan' organizer racks, they are adjustable and I stand up all of my stamp positioners etc in them... but these could also be used like a magazine rack.
      Did you know that Ikea sells insert 'doors' and 'drawers' for the kallax cubes, they are affordable and it would help you with keeping everything neat and tidy behind closed doors. Thanks for sharing your fabulous ideas with us. AND you have a great name Pamela, it's the same as my Mums!

    You are so lucky to have so much space!! I'm envious! Thanks for all the ideas. As for the bonus idea with the A4 storage I bought two sets from our craft store here in NZ, Spotlight. They were on special and all different rainbow colours in each set of 6. I have found them useful for when I buy occasional craft magazines from the UK which have ephemera, die cuts, papers etc and pop them in the pack. If I get other ephemera that match the set I include them in the storage box. I have written on the edge that shows on the shelf things like Village scene, lavender, summer etc. Sadly I haven't seen these again because I'd be getting more!

    I use magazine holders flipped the long way (like yours) to store my A4 cardstock, in rainbow order of course! The Altenew folders would never work for me as I buy larger packs of paper. My 12x12 cardstock is in divided paper holders that fit into a Kallax unit, similar to the ones that Stamp-n-Storage makes. 12x12 patterned paper is stored in plastic holders like yours and my smaller paper pads are in fridge bins. I…have a lot of paper! I think that I need to part ways with some more of it. Your paper storage looks great! Have a very happy new year Therese! 🇨🇦

    I'm in the process of destashing and reorganising my craft room. There are some good ideas here the A4 clip folders are on my list already. I would just cut out the details from the packaging, which would have the colour , make and shade and put that in the pocket to be honest. Having the speciality glue, vellum etc in one is also going in.

    • @lostinpaper
      @lostinpaper  Месяц назад

      I was thinking of that as an option... but then I get all hoardy and don't want to cut into my cardstock for a swatch.... even though I know I will have to do it anyway lol. I was thinking of getting something together that I don't have to pull out the plastic sleeves to choose the colours, so maybe a swatch ring may work, that way I can flip them around to mix and match.

    I had the same problem with those pockets with snaps. The snaps just took up too much room. I settled on sleeves with two open sides. I have dividers so I can keep them tidy and it's easy to simply transfer the label from the package onto the outside. They hold more than one package which is quite nice. The only paper I don't store this way is the 12x12 and my white cardstock. I use two different brands and store them separately. I do like your idea for the masking/adhesive papers. Currently, I store my masking papers with my stamping platform in a laptop "bag" that also has some other stamping platform items (magnets, angles, etc.) My flat adhesives are just in drawers with the other small tape runners, etc. My adhesive rolls are actually on a paper towel holder.

    • @lostinpaper
      @lostinpaper  Месяц назад

      The open sides sounds like the paper would be easy to get in and out of... do you find that pieces fall out, or do the dividers help with this? LOVE the idea of the paper towel holder for adhesive rolls, do you tear as you go, or is it easy to take the roll off and use it as you need it?

    • @kcinca5410
      @kcinca5410 Месяц назад

      @@lostinpaper The paper towel roll is a stand on the counter one so I just lift them off, storing the widest on the bottom (both foam and regular). I don't have any trouble the paper falling out of the sleeves. It's a great fit (for both US and Euro A4 size) and I just pull them out. If the section is quite tight, I have to take the sleeve all they way out but otherwise I can just get a piece at a time. I store them with the openings in front and on top but they're on a shelf so I don't worry too much about dust getting on them. Plus sometimes I'll put extra ones across the top when I start acquiring too many to fit on the shelf.

    Good ideas. I've been using A4 & 12x12 clear plastic wallets with poppers as cardstock storage for a long time. It works really well for me and keeping it all stored in rainbow order makes it quick to find what you're after. However, it has never occurred to me to cut off the popper so I can increase my already limited storage space! I have tonnes of spare A4 wallets (open at the top with no popper) that I mainly use to store A4/larger size stamp sets and dies. I'm thinking I'll switch my cardstock popper wallets over to these and reclaim some real estate! (Not to mention all the cardstock I've managed to snag in Christmas sales that needs to find a home!!) Thank you. I look forward to more of these organisation videos.

    Great tips. I’m trying to get back into card making again and would love to pre-cut my cards and base papers like you have done. What is the general size that everyone uses please? Also, do you make your own envelopes or buy them. Thank you ❤

    • @lostinpaper
      @lostinpaper  Месяц назад +1

      Hi Judy, I live in Australia, but make US sized A2 card bases. Mostly because the products that I use are from US based stores and are made to fit this size perfectly.
      The US A4 card size is called 'Letter Size' and is 8 1/2" X 11" so when cut in half will make X2 card bases which are 4 1/4 X 5 1/2" finished size when folded.
      OR if you live outside the US then you can use the A4 cardstock available and cut this in half and fold each half to create X2 card bases which are called A6 size - finished size is 10.5 X 14.8cm.
      I buy C6 size envelopes as they are slightly bigger (made to fit the A6 size card) and this means when I add dimension to a card that it will fit into the envelope much easier. I do not usually make my own envelopes, but there are tools available that will do this easily. Hope this helps, please let me know if you have any further questions. Crafty hugs, Therese

      @ Thank you so much for your detailed explanation. I also live in Australia and tend to buy the 12 x 12 Kaisercraft paper or paper pads from K-mart as I also make things on my Cricut. What is the best A4 paper to buy for the card and card base please? It gets so confusing when everything is “Americanised”.

      @@judyhedley3091 Hi Judy, would you prefer to create with US or Aust size A4. I converted to US (A2 4 1/4 X 5 1/2" card bases) many years ago, I found it easier because I was mostly using US products which are made to fit this size. But you can always make them work for an A6 card too.
      I use Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 110lb for bases and the 80lb version for panels and colouring (be careful there are many different versions of these). I buy them from Amazon AU when they are on special or sometimes places like Craft Online & ? Craft Girrafe have them for a good price. I do have my link for this in my videos and on my blog if you want to go directly there to see which one I am talking about.
      Another new cardstock I am loving at the moment is from an Australian company called Crafty Critta - they are defininitely linked at my blog under the heading fave shops and they sell both the US and AU size A4 STamping and blending cardstock, it's a FANtastic ALL purpose cardstock and I have a video sharing my first impressions here. ruclips.net/user/liveH2vVE_BkZ5M?si=yKl-nB3_GE9uwcFn
      Whatever you choose, maybe grab some 'smaller' packs of different cards and find which one you like the best and suits your needs. But, I have found using the same card will mean that you get used to using it and colouring etc gets easier lol. Hope this helps, let me know if you have any further questions. Crafty hugs Therese
