3:52... When you trim fat off of a working machine it's going to have operational problems... Right now Elon musk trimmed all the fat off of Twitter and now its operating without a massive amount of employees... That is doing the exact same thing as it was before if not better except there's less people involved... That means it's more efficient... Why is this guy making it sound like Twitter is still a problem when after everything was done it was fixed within a week...

Elon is not the only person who has the ability to review and recommend more efficient processes and procedures. You don't even need another department to be created. Get an honest group of financial and managerial accountants/auditors to find the waste and bloated fees, then offer incentives all the way down to the lowest employee to call it out as it is happening. Eliminate abusers from ever having access to government funds again. The incentives given would be far less than the total of the other. Reward good behavior, not bad....duh!!!

Farzad - well done! I’m still perplexed by how people can’t recognize true genius. True genius comes with all the frailties of being human. Unfortunately, with all he has on his unimaginably huge plate, there are things which will slip off and result in a mess. You made a great point that is missed and unappreciated by most - most messes reveal their root causes which can then be identified and remediated. Without the mess, the issues never surface and simply linger on or worse fester and metastasize unnoticed. As a result of your experiences at Tesla, you gained a unique appreciation for Elon’s way of revealing these otherwise hidden weaknesses. You get it! Thanks! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

From what I understand, the Pentagon does not use Starlink, they use Starshield. It is not a rental of the service, they are satellites that have been sold to the Pentagon, and are owned and operated by the Pentagon. Elon does not want Starlink used for military purposes, which would make them military targets. Starlink is only for commercial purposes. So I don’t think that Elon would have to divest from Starlink to serve in government. Starlink doesn’t own the Starshield satellites, they’ve been sold…

In theory it would be great to have Elon or someone cut the waste in government. In practice there’s a reason it don’t happen! I worked for a city for 30 years. Every 4 yrs we got a new mayor and “new ideas” to run the city “like a business” to save money. One real life example of how that worked. Snowplowing. We had a new mayor that vowed to save money and started with snowplowing overtime. We advised him to not implement the plan. He did. He found out that all his people that wanted him to save money DEMANDED that their street be exempted from the plan and be plowed before they needed to leave for work. It took one snowfall for the plan to be abandoned and for him to tell us “go back to the old plan NOW!” Remember that your “waste” is another person’s bread and butter. Not saying it isn’t needed, just that it’s hard. Remember when Elon decided governments should pay tens of thousands for their twitter account? He didn’t think that was waste till the governments said “we out”. Just sayin’.

They said that towards the end of the year the bases would repaint perfectly fine buildings, repair perfectly fine roads, throw away perfectly good tools etc to burn up what money they haven’t used up because if they had left over money then they would get that much less the next year. So they were penalized for saving. Also know someone who was in the army who said they would pile leftover munitions into a hole and blow it up because they didn’t use it all during the year. Part of government efficiency is creating a good positive competitive environment for business, (not price controls), that lowers, not raises, prices. For example, the housing market, lot of financial innovation all geared to raise prices and rents. Mobile home park rents have doubled over last 5-6 years because of corporate buyers of the parks, ditto for houses, apartments and condos.

It is this culture that has kept trying to restrict what and how he should express himself. It is not a surprise to me that he identified a potential existential threat to humanity with the erosion of free speech and focused his "laser" on solving it. it's completely in line with every other thing he has done and is doing in all his other ventures like Spacex, Tesla, Neuralink, Boring co, etc.

You do realize that Elon cut 80% of Twitter employees, and it functions just fine compared to before. I realize you may be for free speech only for what you think, but real Americans and anyone who believes in freedom believe in free speech for everyone, even those you disagree with.
The only reason it doesn't make as much money is because of politics and thank God Elon stands for principle over profit on this one

"Everything" didnt exactly go to sh*t, atleast give him credit for cutting the costs significantly. The goal for government is not to make profit but to reduce spending while getting things done with as little as possible.

Twitter is better than ever right now, more popular, more features, built in fact checking, no more governmental suppression of account and ideas. Try again. Losing a safe space for the far left doesn’t equal turned to shit, it’s fair now, but not everyone can handle fairness.

As to Trump and Elon’s new love affair…
Trump is perfectly transparent, he likes anyone who likes him. Ask Peter Thiel, Brittany Mahomes, or the Proud Boys.
But eventually Trump will do or say something that Elon can’t stand and Elon will tweet something. And then Donald will turn on him. It has happened over and over.

November: The election is over; Trump has won. Elon gets a note from the FAA. "Dear Mister Musk, we have been instructed by DJT that your launch license is now valid and will remain in effect for all future launches if you sign the following document. I. Elon Musk will never post another Tweet for as long as DJT is in office." Sadly, it's the end of SpaceX.

I was going to wait for the MY Juniper but I just can't support this privileged person any longer. The man is a genius in certain areas , but totally lacking in others. This personality imbalance is so typical in some people.

Elon Musk worked extremely hard for what he has and continues to do so in order to make each of his companies a huge success. He’s not afraid to fight for what is right - not just for his Country, but for the entire World. That’s not a personality imbalance. That’s vision. That’s courage. That’s his own style of leadership. That’s genius, the likes of which has never been seen before.

I'm sure at some point they can use some products by Palantir in all aspect of government to fully understand live where the resources goes and you could trim inefficiencies, see bottlenecks and get much better predictions for good resources allocations.
It’s a game of data and I'm sure a lot can be more automated and transparent.
People that think Elon would not help stop the overspending are disillusioned, a lot of what is missing in government is execution, accountability and large multi decades vision which Elon is one of the top mind for all that right now.
