    bought a 61 convertible and the guy couldn't get it to run. She wanted to but as soon as he let off the ignition switch, she dies. I was so wrapped up in what he was saying that I never bothered to see if had voltage to the coil after the initial start-up......NOPE!!. After looking at your video, hooked up positive to the coil, and she ran like a champ. Thank you so much for the video!! keep up the great work.

    Love the pertronix stuff ! Throw the points in the trash every time! Good explanation to the people unfamiliar with how the points system work

    I did the same conversion on my '61, and it works great! I would recommend you move your coil though, the stock location is right next to the head and gets awfully hot.

      That is a great idea! Thanks for sharing that and I will move it to the back rail for sure!

    Wonderful my 1962 wagon with my old original set up works fine. Start to write up your set up. Having a hard time starting that’s not good.

    In this video I mistakenly call the distributor a Pertronix distributor. It is NOT a Pertronix distributer, but the coil is a Pertronix Flame Thrower 2. My bad on that. This distributor is purchased from Clark's Corvair Parts and is part number C13260 and the coil is C11403 both on Clark's website I mention in the description. Also, I have covered the end of the connector I ejected from the harness just to be safe.

    I found an old 65 corvair corsa convertible 4 spd triple sierra with 31k in a doctors pole barn and it has a magneto instead of a distributor and a few other odd things going on back there and no windshield squirter system from the factory. I still have it. It just sits in my pole barn now. LOL.

      james hardin thanks so much for your comments! The Corvair has been a fun project. The ignition has been working great. We did also put on a hi torque starter. We were very fortunate that ours was well taken care of and had good documentation with it. Good luck on yours! Go fast, go straight!

    Great video. I'm just now starting on my dad's 65 Monza. It has no spark after sitting for about a year and I was about to install new points and condenser in it but I'm thinking the Pertronix system is the way to go. Could you recommend anywhere in particular I can purchase that exact system?

    Does the bad carburetor still deliver fuel to the 3 cylinders? It idles like it does...
    Don’t know much about carburetors, I was only old enough to play driving my brother’s EM Corvair, in ‘71. One day I will buy one...

    • @KevinWilsonSBC
      @KevinWilsonSBC  4 года назад

      Bullitt Plumbing thanks so much for your comments and question! In our case, the idle circuit was doing ok, but anything that required the main jet to come in just didn't act right and those 3 cylinders were not getting enough fuel. Go fast, go straight! Be Safe!

    Nice job👍 Now may I suggest trashing that dangerous mechanical (push rod operated) fuel pump before it wrecks your engine with an electric pump up front.
