Your crazy quilt and blocks are beautiful I've been making crazy quilt pillows and wallhangings for 5 years I usually do the embroidery embellishments and beads on each block then I sew them together

I stumbled across this today by chance and it's exactly what I needed to see. I was attempting to make my sewing room (where sewing can't happen) functional, at midnight last night. I have boxes and containers of all this stuff. But YES, I need to SEE it. 😊

Ginger, you have such a sweet spirit; and I love how you embellished your crazy quilt! I am also a newbie quilter, and I love quilting. You have definitely inspired me even more to create beautiful quilts! Recently, I've started watching quilt embellishment videos, and they have taken my love for quilting to a whole new level! It's amazing how so many wonderful techniques can be done to beautify a quilt. Thank you so much for sharing this video.♥

Thank you so much for this. When starting some new iteration of crafting, the first thing I do is put together a YT playlist with tutorials. I put yours at the top because the first thing I always want to know is what people *wish* they’d have known to do when starting. This was very inspirational and eye opening. I, too, have a ton of crafting supplies, many of which are bits and bobs that just seemed like they should have a place somewhere in my life.
The tips about storing hankies and bits of linens and such and ways to get inspiration were right on target.
I have a quilting friend that gives me scraps of all shapes and sizes and have wrapped, sorted, and stored them the same way that you do. It’s a WONDERFUL way to see what’s there but I never thought about doing it with bigger pieces on bigger cards stored on bigger boxes. (I’m looking at you, hankie and old embroidery collection!) There’s a stack of foam core boards in the craft room just waiting to be cut to size.
There was more inspiration than I should write here. I got a fresh notebook and started making crazy quilt notes. They started with your ideas for inspiration and storage. Then I noticed that you had some gorgeous embroidery strips that I never thought about, so I sketched those as a reminder to use them some day. My favorite is the yellow roses between the little pearl flowers. The next favorite is the ribbon fastened down with little buttons or whatever those are.
    Thanks again.

As an advid Crazy quilter. You are so brave to remove all the blocks. I don't use a hoop so it doesn't matter. If you use different stitches or placing the embellishments on the seam. the linear lines will be disquised joining seams will disappear. Your work looks lovely. Keep

I guess mine are REALLY crazy! I've been doing them way different - starting in a corner or on a side and going across or up/down. The starting in the middle and going around feels too much like log cabin to me, but maybe that's the way to go. I have to get reeeeeally creative sometimes on getting the blocks together LOL. And all that extra decoration...why didn't I think of that!! Opens up a whole new world in patchwork projects for me.

This all makes sense. But I would not embellish with beads and buttons and such hard items until the quilting has been completed, especially is this will be machine quilted. Same with items like doilies and such. They can be added right before quilting. Leave some areas for the end

Thanks for your feedback. On this quilt I'm trying to stick with the tradition and do it all by hand. Crazy quilt makers in some cases didn't even put a back on their quilts. Some used the tying off method. The crazy quilt in general is way to busy on the front to care about the top stitching patterns on many quilts done by machines today. I'm an older woman and love the old ways. I've done both machine and hand quilting and I like both but for the crazy quilt.. it's all about showing off your embroidery etc. skills. I'm nothing like these Victorian women who excelled at hand stitching but I didn't let that stop me. We will have to see how it goes lol. Thanks for watching and commenting I love it.
